Comedy Central just gave Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele a very “nooice” deal.

The stars of Key & Peele are developing an animated spinoff for the network, featuring their Critiquer’s Corner characters Vandaveon and Mike, while also seeing season 4 of their sketch comedy series expanded to 22 episodes.

The popular Vandaveon and Mike characters were first introduced in an add-on web series providing commentary on Key & Peele; the comedians played fans offering humorous, often crude ways to improve each episode. The potential animated series will follow 12-year-old Vandaveon and Mike as hall monitors navigating their way through middle school.

In the meantime, Vandaveon and Mike will have 22 more episodes of Key & Peele to critique when the series returns for its fourth season this fall. The renewal order is for 20 originals plus two “best of” episodes. The series closed its third season in December, averaging two million total viewers each week and ranking No. 1 in cable in its Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. timeslot with men 18-34. It also ranked in the top five with key adults 18-49.

Key & Peele is a Comedy Central standout for both its ratings success and viral dominance — not to mention its popularity with President Obama. The sketch “Obama Loses His S**t” launched the duo (and anger translator Luther) into mainstream stardom. Key & Peele videos have generated over 500 million total streams, with nine of the top 10 clips on the Comedy Central YouTube channel coming from the series. The sketch “Substitute Teacher” alone has over 44 million streams to date, making it the No. 1 clip on the channel.
