'Friends with Better Lives' could use better ratings

Friends with Better Lives is the latest sitcom vying for a semi-permanent slot in the CBS Monday night block now that How I Met Your Mother has departed, but so far, it’s not impressing in the ratings.

The second episode last night of the new show starring James Van Der Beek and Brooklyn Decker was down 31 percent from its premiere preview two weeks ago. Meanwhile, CBS’ fellow freshman Mom finished up its first season run with an equally modest number. The network also tried shifting 2 Broke Girls to 8 p.m. to try kick starting the night in the old HIMYM slot, and it actually held up pretty well — only down a tenth of a point from its last original at 8:30 p.m. (though it was also down 35 percent from the HIMYM average, but given 2 Broke is replacing CBS’ best-rated Monday comedy, that’s not too shabby). Lindsay Lohan guest starred on last night’s 2 Broke Girls, but given her OWN reality show’s ratings, could that really have helped?

Meanwhile a repeat of the NBC’s The Blacklist managed to beat every other drama on Monday night. Fueled by its top-rated Voice lead-in, The Blacklist both won 10 p.m. against repeats on ABC and CBS, plus topped Fox’s original episodes of Bones and The Following (and, of course, The CW’s shows as well).

Other notable points in the data: Voice hit its lowest Monday of this cycle, The CW’s Tomorrow People was down 20 percent, and Fox’s Bones was down 13 percent. Full chart:
