The Big Bang Theory surged to its most watched-season finale ever Thursday night.
In a year where so many shows are scoring their weakest finales yet, CBS’s comedy kingpin went out on top, delivering 16.3 million viewers and a 4.8 rating among adults 18-49 for its seventh season closer. In addition, Big Bang matched last season’s finale in the demo. Big Bang helped pump up the first season finale of renewed freshman comedy The Millers, which climbed 26 percent from last week (the exact same percentage that Big Bang improved from last week). Elementary, however, hit its series low and was down 30 percent from last season’s closer. In case you missed it, here’s the complete fall TV schedule chart which includes Big Bang‘s move to Mondays.
On ABC, Grey’s Anatomy was steady with last week but down 19 percent from last season’s finale. Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen and American Idol climbed from last week. NBC’s Rosemary’s Baby part 2 of 2 did not improve from its weak premiere. The CW’s Vampire Diaries was up 14 percent from last week but down 27 percent from last season’s finale. Reign final was steady. Full chart:
