'America's Got Talent' return crushes fake Prince Harry

NBC’s America’s Got Talent managed to do what many other reality shows can’t pull off: Return to the air with nearly the exact same rating as last year.

The two-hour AGT debut Tuesday night had 11.9 million viewers and a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49, just off a tenth from last year’s premiere in early June. This is the talent competition’s lowest-rated premiere yet — but that’s pretty much to be expected, given the show has been around for nine seasons. Lead-out The Night Shift had the network’s best rating for a summer drama premiere in nearly five years.

Another nearly brand new reality show had a very different fate: Fox’s I Wanna Marry Harry dove 43 percent from last week’s abysmal premiere to tie a repeat of The CW’s Supernatural in the demo for the hour. Last week Harry had an American Idol lead-in, though. Full chart:
