'Community' survival update: Hulu odds shrink (yet hope remains)

The odds of Community surviving its NBC axing have gotten a little smaller: Hulu talks have largely stalled on picking up the show for a sixth season, sources confirm.

Community studio Sony Pictures Television has been shopping the cult-fave comedy, trying to find a buyer after NBC declined to continue the series beyond its recent fifth season. Talks have stumbled at the most promising distributor, the streaming outlet Hulu. But we’re told Sony has another undisclosed buyer interested in the show and that Hulu still “wants to be part of the conversation,” so don’t give up hope yet.

As first reported by TV Line, Sony is continuing its efforts to find the show a home, but the deadline for a rescue is quickly approaching—actor contracts expire on June 30, which will then release the cast to pursue other projects (like, say, a talk show?).
