House of Cards and Blacklist alum Rachel Brosnahan has joined the cast of the CBS miniseries The Dovekeepers, EW has learned.

Based on Alice Hoffman’s novel, the four-part miniseries tells the story of four women whose lives intersect as they fight for survival when 900 Jews are besieged for months in a fortress at Masada.

Brosnahan, who currently stars on Manhattan, will play Yael, a fearless woman whose mother died in childbirth—a tragedy that her father blames her for. During the dangerous journey through the desert, Yael has a whirlwind romance that will haunt her after they arrive in Masada. But she’ll find comfort in her warrior brother (Diego Boneta) and her fellow dovekeeper, Shirah (Cote de Pablo), as they try to stay alive.

“It gives me such excitement to announce that Rachel Brosnahan will play the fierce and beautiful Yael in The Dovekeepers,” executive producer Roma Downey said in a statement. “I really admire Rachel’s work and find her to be one of the most exciting young actresses of our time. I have no doubt that she will bring courage and dignity to this unique character.”

The Dovekeepers, also executive produced by Mark Burnett, will air in 2015.
