'Happy Endings': Watch Dave's musical massacre in the season premiere -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Happy-Endings

If you don’t want to wait until Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. to get Happy, when the ABC comedy returns for a second season, simply direct your attention to the “below” part of your screen. In this clip from the episode — which is a half-hour spectacle featuring nasty jambalaya, frolf (frisbee golf), too many cats, and a Roaring Twenties party — an attempt by Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and altar-abandoned fiancé Dave (Zachary Knighton) to strengthen their friendship with more honesty has gone sour, which will result in partygoers being subjected to a performance of Dave’s awesomely terrible ballad “Love to the Power of Love.”  READ FULL STORY »

'Parks and Recreation': A celebration of every ill-fated exploit of Jerry Gergich

Jim-OHeir-Parks

In just a few short hours, Parks and Recreation will return to NBC with its fourth season premiere, which means, to borrow a phrase from Leslie Knope, “Yay! Making fun of Jerry is back!” Indeed, one of the many reasons to love this underdog local-government comedy lies in the portrayal of Jerry Gergich (played to resigned perfection by Jim O’Heir*), a human punching bag who has a true talent for botching words (“murinal”), bumbling into trouble (coffee, meet face), and just being the wrong person at the wrong time.

Perhaps it’s little surprise to learn that the Parks department employee who once bent over during a presentation to find his misplaced glasses, only to wind up splitting his pants and farting, serves as prime humor fodder for the show’s writers. “Jim is a very likable actor, so it’s endlessly fun to take a completely inoffensive person and turn them into an object of complete and utter ridicule,” shares executive producer Mike Schur. “More than any other kind of joke, we’ve had to take ‘Jerry is a moron’ jokes out of our scripts because it’s just too easy to write them. If we had allowed every Jerry joke we’ve ever written to be in the script, the show would be called Screw You, Jerry.”  READ FULL STORY »

Community-Jeong

Before the always-inventive Community unveils its season 3 premiere tonight at 8 p.m. on NBC, creator Dan Harmon would like to make this pledge to you. “We’re going to be weird in ways that addict you to the show,” he says. “We’re going to be weird in insanely grounded, clever ways — not weird in ways that make [NBC parent company] Comcast go, ‘Isn’t that the show where everyone’s dressed like a Viking?’” Herewith, your cheat sheet to the new season of the community college-set comedy, as graciously provided by Professor Harmon.

'Parks and Recreation': See April counsel Andy in tomorrow's season premiere! -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

If you’re a fan of Parks and Recreation and are eagerly awaiting tomorrow’s season 4 premiere (NBC, 8:30 p.m.), then we literally have the perfect gift for you. Yes, it’s a scene from that episode, featuring one of TV’s funniest couples, April (Aubrey Plaza) and Andy (Chris Pratt). Press play to see April juggle jobs as acting manager of the Parks department and life manager for Andy, as he tries to figure out whether he should go work for Tom (Aziz Ansari) at 720 Entertainment. 'Parks and Recreation': Exec producer Mike Schur gives you a season 4 preview!

Scramble up some pre-birds, assemble a tray of zerts, and grab a couple of food rakes: It’s finally time to dig into the fourth season of Parks and Recreation. But before you reconnect with your favorite local government employees this Thursday at 8:30 p.m., check out what exec producer Mike Schur revealed to EW about the upcoming action.

• Leslie must choose between two loves.

“Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) realize that if she’s running for office and anyone in town finds out that she’s sleeping with Ben, who’s essentially her boss, that’s the kind of thing that can really sink a campaign. She attacks the problem from every angle and comes to the conclusion that there’s no way to have a relationship and to follow her dream of running for office. So, the premiere is about her trying to make a decision about which one she wants to do. The first half of the year is about her living with that decision and trying to imagine the road not taken…. The last scene in the premiere is the everything-comes-to-a-head scene with Ben and Leslie. It’s a very interesting, fraught scene. And it was Grade-A acting on both of their parts.  I’m really excited to see how people react.” READ FULL STORY »

'Simpsons': See Kiefer Sutherland go all Jack Bauer on Sunday's season premiere! Plus, Comic Book Guy on Nedna -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

The clouds are parting and the angels are singing: Season 23 of The Simpsons is almost upon us! In the premiere, “The Falcon and The D’ohman,” Homer will buddy up to Wayne (returning guest voice/24 vet Kiefer Sutherland), the new security guard at the power plant who is actually an ex-CIA agent haunted by violent flashbacks. But why wait until this Sunday to see Sutherland in Springfield? Below is an exclusive clip from the episode, which shows off Wayne’s egg-cellent superspy skills. And given that this episode also reveals the fate of Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel as a couple (which was determined by a fan vote), we’ve also included the stakes-setting opening moment, which stars the show’s most romantic character, Comic Book Guy. Fred Savage to direct and guest star in episode of 'Happy Endings' -- EXCLUSIVE

Fred-Savage

Image Credit: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images

Fred Savage will be busy behind and in front of the camera on the Happy Endings set next week: EW has learned that he is not only directing his second episode of the sophomore ABC comedy, this time he’ll be making a rare onscreen appearance, guest starring as himself. (We can’t give away too much, but let’s just say involves a bad date, Elisha Cuthbert’s Alex, and Savage providing live commentary for The Princess Bride.)

The former Wonder Years star reinvented himself as TV director years ago, helming episodes of such series as Modern Family, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Ugly Betty. Savage’s episode is slated to air sometime this fall, while season 2 of Happy Endings debuts Sept. 28.

'Amazing Race': Check out this first look at the new season!

One week from Sunday, host Phil Keoghan will drop his hand for the 19th time and kick off a new season of Amazing Race. What can you expect in this go-around (the world)? Apparently the most “X-treme” race yet, complete with car squealing, intense paddling, bungee jumping, and spelunking. Your contestants include: Zac Sunderland, the first person under the age of 18 to solo-sail around the world, and his father; Survivor winners Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca; and Olympic snowboarders Andy Finch and Tommy Czeschin. “Plus,” as the announcer adds, “twins! A brother and sister! Flight attendants! Las Vegas showgirls! A former NFL star… and his wife!” Get in the game by pressing play: READ FULL STORY »

Did you know 'Community' season 2 was really a moody psycho-sexual thriller? -- VIDEO

Thought you were watching a fun, lighthearted romp last season on Community? Maybe you should re-think that drink. As you can see in this film trailer montage video below, courtesy of NBC.com, there are deep, dark tensions snaking through the Greendale campus, thanks to the three-headed serpent named Jeff-Annie-Britta. Was this Fatal Attraction-like video a hint about the psycho-sexual direction of the new season (which starts next Thursday, by the way)? Consider this: When Joel McHale was asked in last week’s issue of EW whom Jeff would romantically target next, he answered, “It’s going back to Annie. That said, because Jeff and Britta have had secret sex for a year, it’s not as simple as you think.” Press play and remember: People aren’t playthings.  READ FULL STORY »

Zooey Deschanel on her 'New Girl' role: 'If I had read this character in a movie script, I would've jumped on board immediately'

If you were five-alarm charmed by Zooey Deschanel in (500) Days of Summer, there’s one day on the fall calendar you might want to circle: Sept. 20, when New Girl debuts on Fox. (For the more impatient, you can download the first episode from iTunes for free right now.) The blue-eyed indie film vet stars as Jess, a freshly dumped but adorable she-nerd who moves in with a trio of dudes, and it turns out everyone has a lot of learning to do about the opposite sex.
