'Awake' series finale will be satisfying, Jason Isaacs and Kyle Killen promise

Jason Isaacs admits he finds it “strangely ironic and amusing” to be promoting tonight’s season finale of NBC’s Awake (10 p.m. ET), given that the show has been canceled. But receiving so many calls after the first hour of the two-part finale aired last week — and ended with his Det. Michael Britten shot in the reality in which his wife survived the fatal car accident, and placed in a police holding cell in the reality in which his son lived — recharged him. “I think we burned briefly but brightly,” he tells EW. “The fact that we’re not coming back for a second season doesn’t in any way diminish what we managed to do in one season. Some really smart people put their heads together and came up with something different. NBC was very brave to make it and very supportive while we were on.” He’s proud of tonight’s episode. “We left nothing off the table. It feels like a real ending. Nobody who’s watched the show is going to come up and want their money back in the street.”  READ FULL STORY »

'Deadliest Catch': Coast Guard medevac on the Wizard -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP

On last week’s Deadliest Catch, viewers watched as Wizard greenhorn Chris Scambler went into convulsions in the gear room and Capt. Keith Colburn made the decision to call the Coast Guard. In Tuesday’s episode (Discovery, 9 p.m. ET), we’ll see the actual rescue. Watch an exclusive preview below. “We train and we drill — we do all kinds of things for man overboard, abandon ship, fire drills, oil spill response drills, it goes on and on and on. We do them all the time. We don’t have a drill for evacuating a guy off the boat,” Colburn tells EW. “My guys stepped right in and did exactly what they needed to do from the second that Chris collapsed to the moment he was lifted off the boat and out of our control. I can’t tell you enough what a great group of guys I have on my boat. To face an emergency of that caliber, to have everybody totally focused on the objective and getting it done, as a captain, it made me really proud. And hopefully, the show shows it.”  READ FULL STORY »

'The Bachelorette': Chris Harrison discusses this season's drama

Tonight, Emily Maynard’s journey on The Bachelorette continues and, if the highlight reel we saw after last week’s season premiere is any indication, we’re in for another emotional ride. “The guys quickly fall for her, and when they realize she wants more — she wants a family and wants it pretty quickly — that changes everything,” host Chris Harrison says. “So when we get deeper into this — the breakups and the heartache — there’s so much more on the line than there normally would be, that the drama’s different. It almost doesn’t even do it justice to call it drama because it’s so much more heartfelt.”

As Harrison says in the video interview below, the show may have catered to Maynard, a single mother to 6-year-old daughter Ricki, by moving production to Charlotte and allowing her to stay in her own home for the start of the season, but one thing won’t change: She’ll still have to deal with fantasy suite cards. “Just like everybody else, she will have that dilemma. What she chooses to do in that moment, and who she chooses to do it with, is completely up to her,” Harrison says. “That, to me, is a great dynamic and a great social issue of our show. We all get to sit at home at the edge of our seat, and be like What’s she gonna do? Is she even gonna offer it to him? Where will it go? Ricki’s a big part of this show, on her mind and in her life. How do you want to be seen? How do you portray this? It was totally up to her.” READ FULL STORY »

'Scandal': Kerry Washington teases tonight's season finale

SCANDAL

Tonight, ABC’s Scandal concludes its first season (10 p.m. ET). After last week’s steamy episode, which flashed back to the start of Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) affair with President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) during his campaign before showing them officially saying goodbye (again) in the present day, the stakes couldn’t be higher. As we see in the promo below, the Vice President’s chief of staff Billy Chambers (Matt Letsche) takes his accusation that the president abused his power to take sexual advantage of White House aide Amanda Tanner (Liza Weil) public — and the audio sex tape that Billy wants people to think is with Amanda but is actually with Olivia gets out as well. Of course, viewers know that Billy was the father of Amanda’s baby and set her presidential tryst and this brewing scandal in motion. But now that Billy has killed reporter Gideon (Brendan Hines), the only one who’d figured out Billy’s connection, what happens? Will Olivia have to admit it’s her on the tape to save the president? Or will she and Cyrus (Jeff Perry) come up with a brilliant move to save both Fitz and Olivia? “I’m always terrified in interviews that I’m gonna say something that’s gonna really get me in trouble with Shonda [Rhimes],” Washington says, laughing. “I will say that when I read the episode, it was a real roller coaster. The thing about managing a crisis in today’s world [versus] 10 years ago, is that there’s so much more intensity because news is so much more immediate, and you have a sense of that in this episode, which is exciting — how quickly the stories change and evolve, and so how quickly your tactic and plan has to change and evolve.” (That tells us nothing, so Shonda should be happy!) 'Deadliest Catch': Greenhorn medical emergency on the Wizard -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Last week on Discovery’s Deadliest Catch, viewers met Chris Scambler, a young dad who took a job on the Wizard to provide for his family despite the fact that he’d never seen the ocean before, let alone the Bering Sea in a storm. Halfway through his first shift, he told Capt. Keith Colburn that he was “terrified” and the job wasn’t for him. Colburn, having seen countless exhausted greenhorns come into his wheelhouse and threaten to quit, asked Chris if that’s the example he wanted to set for his daughters. Chris, to his credit, went back on deck. But in the next two weeks, we’ll see the dramatic turn his story takes. In Tuesday’s episode, he goes into convulsions, which the crew assumes is from severe dehydration. “They have a lot of footage of what happened, if they play it exactly the way it occurred, you’ll see, it’s like one second the deck is working fine — everyone is movin’ and grovin’ and doin’ what they’re doin’ — and the next second, I see Chris and my deck boss Soper waving at me in the window, and I could just tell something was wrong,” Colburn tells EW. “I said, ‘Bring him in the gear room,’ which is about a 50-foot walk from the deck into the house of the Wizard. I ran down to the gear room, and by the time I got there, he was already on his back, going into convulsions. It happened that quickly.” Watch exclusive clips below.

'Suits': Sneak peek at the season 2 premiere -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

suits_180.jpg

USA’s Suits returns for its second season on June 14, and whether you already know the joy of viewing the artwork on the walls of Harvey Specter’s office or not, the video below is for you. It begins with a recap of season 1 for the newbies, and shows you how Mike Ross (SAG Award nominee Patrick J. Adams), a man with a photographic memory but no law degree, ended up being hired by Specter — one of New York’s best and best-dressed legal closers played by Gabriel Macht — to work at a firm that only employs Harvard alums. It also reminds you of the big cliffhanger — Mike’s pissed off, former best friend Trevor (Tom Lipinski) showing up unannounced to inform Mike’s boss Jessica (Gina Torres) that he needs to tell her something about Mike that Harvey hasn’t. Then, we all get a sneak peek at scenes from the season 2 premiere. We learn that Jessica will ask Mike to dinner, which obviously makes both Mike and Harvey nervous. Harvey, unable to get a straight answer out of Jessica about her sudden interest in Mike, does something brilliant: He tells his rival Louis (Rick Hoffman) about it — we suspect so Louis will do some snooping. (I didn’t realize how much I’d missed Hoffman’s delivery.) READ FULL STORY »

'Missing' star Keith Carradine teases what's to come

MISSING

With only two episodes left in its first season, ABC’s Missing will keep the twists coming. Last week, we found out Martin (Keith Carradine) is actually the elusive Suspect Zero, the leader of an international group of rogue former operatives (including one Sean Bean’s Paul was investigating before his faux death) and the man behind Michael’s kidnapping. “There will be more reveals, for sure,” Carradine says, assuring us Martin’s motives will begin to become clear in tonight’s episode. Is there any chance he’s not as bad as we think he is? “Well, no one’s all bad, now are they?” Carradine says, with a laugh. “Listen, he does really care about Becca [Ashley Judd], and he has a real love for his godson. It’s complicated.” We’ve seen that Becca likes to handle betrayal with a little butt-kicking. Should we be bracing for a battle when she catches up to him? “Well, that’s certainly within the realm of possibility. Becca’s a pretty handy lady,” Carradine says. “Martin certainly has many years of experience in this game of intrigue and violence. So anything could happen.” (The photo of Martin pictured is from next week’s season finale.)

Fire at 'Vampire Diaries' location won't affect show

A lot of drama has gone down on The Vampire Diaries at the Mystic Grill, but the real-life fire this morning at the location used for the restaurant’s facade won’t impact the show. Capt. Tony Smith, assistant fire marshal in Covington, Ga., confirms to EW that a call was received at 6:40 a.m. reporting a down power line and a possible transformer on fire. When firemen got to the location, they noticed heavy smoke coming out of the building at 116 Clark St., which houses CPA and law offices, and more units were dispatched. No injuries were reported. Significant fire damage was found in the CPA side of the building and the second story, Smith says. Exterior structural damage is very minimal. “The front door had to be replaced,” Smith says. “I don’t think it would interrupt any filming they had in the near future.”

The interior of the Mystic Grill is actually a set on the show’s stages in Decatur, Ga.

The Vampire Diaries airs its season 3 finale tonight on The CW. The cast is now on hiatus. The show received an early renewal.
