'The Glee Project' Exit Q&A: This week's eliminated contestant admits, 'I had a breakdown'

Andrew Eccles/Oxygen

SPOILER ALERT! If you have not seen last night’s Glee Project: the judges sent home 22 year-old Emily Vasquez after a challenge centered around “Vulnerability.” Each contestant had to reveal something about themselves and New York native Vasquez said that she had been “used” by music producers in the industry. She says that she watched the episode in advance with her parents to prep them for the emotional hour. “I had a breakdown because I was with my family and the reality of my vulnerability,” says Vasquez. “I’m like, What I have I done? I had to. I think it was a good message for young girls especially because there are a lot of sharks out there.” EW talked to Vasquez about the competition and what’s next for the hopeful star.  READ FULL STORY »

'Single Ladies': Watch a clip of guest-star Queen Latifah revealing a sexy secret -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Quantrell D.Colbert/VH1

On the July 4 episode of Vh1′s Single Ladies, Queen Latifah will pop up as Sharon Love, an old college roommate of Val (Stacey Dash). Sharon is now a TV anchor and reveals a very surprising secret about Val on air (Latifah then returns for the July 11 episode). “I don’t wanna give it away too much,” says series creator Stacy A. Littlejohn. “I will say it’s the concept of ‘What happens in college, stays in college.’ So I think you can read between the lines there. But we thought it would be fun to have her come on and make a big splash on the show.” Latifah told EW in April that her guest-spot was, “gonna be a little controversial and very funny.”

Hmmm. Interesting. While Littlejohn and Latifah are coy about the big reveal, watch this exclusive promo below to find out the provocative Single Ladies twist… READ FULL STORY »

Ryan Murphy on his new pilot 'American Horror Story' and adapting 'The Normal Heart'

Glee‘s Ryan Murphy is a busy guy. Not only is he about to begin prepping season 3 of his Fox hit, but he also just finished directing the pilot for American Horror Story, which he wrote with Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk. The show, which stars Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, and Jessica Lange and would air on FX, has been shrouded in secrecy, and Murphy is mum on details. “It’s a genre piece and it has creatures in it,” says Murphy. “But [it] is also really about things that we in our day-to-day American society right now find scary. So the edict in the writers room is, let’s write about scares us. What scares you? What scares me? So it’s really about paranoia and suspicion. It’s very sexual between Connie and Dylan. It’s about infidelity. It’s really cool. I’m really proud of it.”

Murphy also has been contemplating bringing Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, currently on Broadway in a critically acclaimed production, to the big screen with Mark Ruffalo potentially starring. “I am moving forward with it,” says Murphy. “I have a couple great casting ideas. I’m having a big meeting with CAA about it, about where to do it, how to do it. I love Larry’s play. I’m so thrilled that he and the play finally got all this recognition. I think it’s a story that needs to be told. It’s a beautiful love story.”

'Jersey Shore': MTV responds to recasting rumors

MTV

Reports hit the web this morning that MTV was planning on replacing the original cast of its phenom Jersey Shore in season 6 due to the cast’s pricey salaries. But, in a statement to EW, a network rep denied such claims: “We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show.” The fourth season of Jersey Shore, filmed in Florence, Italy, will premiere on MTV on Aug. 4.

'Glee' scoop: Ryan Murphy reveals season 3 secrets, talks 'The Glee Project' winner

It’s only been a little over a month since Glee‘s season 2 has ended. But co-creator Ryan Murphy and his team, which now includes a brand-spankin’-new writing staff including Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Marti Noxon, have already begun thinking about the third season of the Fox hit. “Officially, we start on Monday, but we’ve broken a lot already,” says Murphy. “We know where we’re headed. We know what some of the arcs are.” One definite plot point this coming season will be the introduction of the winner of Oxygen’s The Glee Project, which airs Sundays at 9 p.m., and boasts Murphy as a judge and executive producer. “The person that we found is so perfect,” reveals Murphy. “I think the person is going to be a huge star in the tradition of Lea Michele and Darren Criss and Chris Colfer.” EW pressed Murphy for more details on what would happen in Glee‘s third season, who Sue will target next, and what graduation day means for the characters.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY:  Your comments to Ryan Seacrest about the New Directions teens graduating created quite a stir.
RYAN MURPHY: Which I find strange because I’ve been saying it for years. Maybe because the moment has come and people are like, “Wait! No!”

So the ENTIRE class will graduate by the end? READ FULL STORY »

'The Glee Project' Exit Q&A: Ellis talks about tension with her fellow castmates

Oxygen’s The Glee Project said goodbye to its second contestant last night, the youthful-looking Ellis Wylie. The 19 year-old from Grayslake, Ill. was sent home after performing in the bottom three with Matheus and McKynleigh. “It was weird to watch it and to see how things got edited and how things work out because we have to cram so much into one show,” Ellis tells EW. “It was weird to watch yourself leave! But it was overall just a great experience and loads and loads of fun.” EW talked with Ellis about fighting with fellow contestant, Lindsay, and what’s next for her.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: The judges seemed to think your attitude wouldn’t change and you would still be negative. What did you think of that? Did you think you’d be able to change?
ELLIS WYLIE: Well yeah, because I’m mostly not like that on a regular basis at all. I was really upset the first week. I was very depressed because my voice was down and I was sick. Part of my negativity is that I apologize a lot and that was something I think was getting on people’s nerves. So I think they really saw that. It’s unfortunate that I had this sad thing going for me. I didn’t really realize it but I was just in such a stressful position. I’m really not like that all the time. I understand where they’re coming from.  READ FULL STORY »

'Glee' scoop: Ryan Murphy says he's planning for the show's characters to graduate this season

Could some of Glee‘s most popular characters, like Lea Michele’s Rachel and Cory Monteith’s Finn, be seeing their final season on the Fox hit? Apparently so, according to an interview that series co-creator Ryan Murphy gave to Ryan Seacrest on Friday. There have been rumblings that the show’s seniors would indeed graduate from McKinley High at the end of season 3 and Murphy seemed to confirm that. Said Murphy, “That is true. I don’t think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing. Because I think the thing about this cast is people love them and they are incredibly talented. They’ve left sort of an indelible mark.” He added, “The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years. We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline.” READ FULL STORY »

'Damages': Watch the season 4 teaser -- VIDEO

Craig Blankenhorn/FX

Twisty legal drama Damages is returning for its fourth season on DirecTV, which inherits the series from FX. This time, Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) and Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) team up to take down a private military contractor headed by CEO Howard T. Erickson, played by John Goodman. But expect big surprises — after all, this is Damages. In fact, Close says she was even in the dark about how it would all be resolved in the end. “[The writers] gave me broad strokes about my son Michael, the case and my relationship with Ellen,” says the Emmy-winning actress. “But how it actually gets worked out, I don’t know.” Damages new season premieres July 13. 'The Glee Project' Exit Q&A: Bryce talks about being the first contestant to leave

Oxygen’s The Glee Project said goodbye to its first casualty last night: deep-voiced Bryce, who clashed with choreographer Zach Woodlee. “I know that Zach felt like I was trying to clash with him which I didn’t mean to,” says Bryce. “But I know when you’re working and you’re trying to get stuff done and you’re the choreographer, any kind of alternative suggestion seems like someone trying to go against what you say. I didn’t see that in the show — I didn’t see the attitude part they were talking about. I did see how it could be annoying to have somebody change the part that you’ve put together.” EW chatted with the 22 year-old about the experience, bonding with the contestants, and what’s next for him.  READ FULL STORY »

'Awkward': Watch the trailer for MTV's new scripted comedy series -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

MTV is dipping into the scripted series waters again, and EW has an exclusive look at the trailer for the network’s comedy series, Awkward, which premieres on July 19 at 11 p.m. after Teen Mom. Created by Lauren Iungerich, Awkward is about teenager Jenna Hamilton (One Tree Hill‘s Ashley Rickards) who becomes a school celebrity after people mistakenly think she attempted suicide. “It’s got a really unique and completely contemporary point of view about growing up female in today’s day and age,” says MTV’s Head of Programming David Janollari. “The show really embodies our internal mantra of ‘Our lives amplified.’ In this case, it’s a teenage girl who goes from, as she describes herself, ‘almost invisible’ to completely visible and famous in her school because of this misunderstanding of epic proportions.”
