Greg Kinnear coming to 'Modern Family' as Phil's new... -- EXCLUSIVE

GREG-KINNEAR

Top-rated comedy Modern Family has landed a major-name talent for a key guest role: Greg Kinnear is coming to the hit ABC series this season.

In his first TV sitcom gig since he appeared on NBC’s Friends in 2003, Kinnear will play Tad — Phil Dunphy’s new business partner. Tad is described as a successful and athletic real estate broker, and Phil is extremely impressed by him. But Claire has quite the opposite impression of Tad (hmm, wonder why… ). Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen and Kinnear playing off each other on Modern Family? That sounds as good as it gets…

There’s no airdate for the episode yet, but it will run sometime next year. Best known in recent years for films like Little Miss Sunshine and Baby Mama, Kinnear recently starred in the cable miniseries The Kennedys. Meanwhile, last night’s Modern Family was easily Wednesday highest-rated show.

Saturday Night Live veteran Nora Dunn is stopping by ABC’s Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

Dunn will play tough financial businesswoman Joyce Barron who hires Apartment 23 star Dreama Walker’s character June as her intern. Dunn’s ultra demanding boss “sleeps standing up, like a cow” and June struggles to live up to her expectations.

ABC hasn’t yet announced its midseason schedule, but you can expect Apartment 23 to be a major title for the network in the coming months. CBS’ 2 Broke Girls and Fox’s New Girl have simiar concepts — new roommates living and loving in the big city — and the Apartment 23 pilot is just as witty as either, if not more so. Ashley-Greene

Welcome to the ’60s, Alice Cullen!

EW has learned exclusively that Ashley Greene (Alice from the Twilight franchise) has booked a three-episode arc on ABC’s period drama.

She’ll play a debutante with a past connection to Ted (Michael Mosley). She’ll appear in the episode titled “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” that’ll air Dec. 4.

Breaking Dawn, the next installment in the Twilight franchise, opens Nov. 18.

Unlike some of ABC’s other freshman shows, Pan Am (8.25 million, 2.7 rating/7 in adults 18-49) has yet to receive a full season pickup. ABC has ordered more scripts for the show, but has been holding off on a pickup. But there’s a new showrunner at the helm and the show is doing well overseas.

'Two and a Half Men' scoop: Jon Cryer loses it, becomes Charlie Sheen's character -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO

Remember months ago when Jon Cryer teased that one character on Two and a Half Men would be institutionalized this season?

As it turns out, that character is…

Cryer’s own Alan Harper. And he goes looney in a really wild way that brings the ghost of Charlie Sheen’s deceased character back into the show.

You see, Alan hasn’t really dealt with the death of his brother Charlie yet. In Monday’s episode (SPOILER ALERT), Walden (Ashton Kutcher) donates Charlie’s piano to under-privileged kids. At first, Alan seems fine with the decision. But the shock of the piano vanishing from the house triggers Alan’s grief and he completely loses it. In fact, Alan thinks he IS Charlie Harper.

So in the episode, it seems we’re going to get to see Jon Cryer imitating Charlie Sheen playing Charlie Harper. (UPDATE: Video of Cryer playing Harper here).

And what does Alan thinking he’s become his hedonistic brother look like? It looks like this: READ FULL STORY »

The former Freddy Krueger will join the list of actors who have played members of the Bickerman clan in the Lake Placid franchise. Syfy says Englund will headline a new movie titled Lake Placid: The Final Chapter (and, yes, this film is supposed to mark the conclusion of the series).

Englund will play Jim Bickerman, a poacher caught up in the film’s latest giant croc attack. Elisabeth Rohm (Law and Order) and Yancy Butler (Kick-Ass) co-star. The film is shooting in Bulgaria for a 2012 release. Englund’s been a busy actor recently, having just appeared in episodes of Hawaii Five-0, Supernatural, Chuck and Bones over the past year.

Tonight was the wrap-up to American Horror Story’s two-part Halloween installment, and viewers learned more about the dark past of Tate (Evan Peters). Plus, Constance (Jessica Lange) admitted to Violet that Tate was one of her children! EW talked to co-creator Ryan Murphy about tonight’s episode, and what’s in store for next week’s hour, titled “Piggy Piggy.” I’m scared already.  READ FULL STORY »

Tags: , , News, Scoop

Carrie-Anne Moss makes her big debut on NBC’s Chuck on Friday and EW has two first-look action photos, plus a few words from the former Ms. Trinity herself.

As fans know, the actress is joining the show as Gertrude Verbanski, a former spy who now runs Verbanski Corp., the chief rival of Chuck’s new spy company Carmichael Industries.
