Get ready to fear your shower all again: It’s time to check back in to the Bates Motel. But don’t get scared at the prospect of another tired Psycho movie remake just yet. A&E announced today that, in conjunction with Universal Television, they’ll resurrect cinema’s most iconic lodge for a new scripted series called Bates Motel. The cable network is currently in script development for the series (the script was written by Anthony Cipriano), which according to a statement “will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted back story and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.” READ FULL STORY »

'SNL' impression master Jay Pharoah on Jay-Z's big week, Daniel Radcliffe, and Justin Bieber -- VIDEO

He’s the man of 1,000 impressions, and Saturday Night Live funny guy Jay Pharoah said he has at least 80 more on deck (Richard Pryor and Jamie Foxx, to name a few) when he talked with EW this week. Pharoah admitted he’s been blown away by the Boy Formerly Known as Harry Potter, a.k.a. Daniel Radcliffe, who makes his hosting debut tomorrow, then quipped, “I felt like a proud father!”

In a bit we’re hoping will make its way to “Weekend Update,” Pharoah whipped out his dead-on Jay-Z impression to give a hilarious take on how HOVA may have responded to the record-selling, Internet-busting birth of Blue Ivy Carter, the rapper’s daughter with Beyoncé. Most surprisingly, Pharoah name-checked an upcoming host (who’s performed on the show before) as the person he’s most looking forward to working with this spring. It is not who you’d expect. Find out after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

'Good Wife' star Graham Phillips talks Zach's love life, his Sundance movie, and the costar who wrote him a college recommendation letter

GRAHAM-PHILLIPS

This Sunday’s episode of The Good Wife reveals something even 18-year-old actor Graham Phillips, who plays Alicia and Peter’s son Zach, didn’t know about his character: He’s been dating Nisa (guest star Rachel Hilson) all this time. Sorry, Marissa Gold (Sarah Steele)! Both Alicia and Jackie will grow concerned that Zach has been spending too much time with Nisa and suggest the teens slow down. “He reminds me a lot of Peter in this episode, in the way that he’s very manipulative,” Phillips says. “He pits Jackie and Alicia against each other, and he uses their mutual hatred. You get a glimpse of his sort of Machiavellian way of getting his way. It’s kinda fun to see Zach play the system.”  READ FULL STORY »

'Secret Circle' star Britt Robertson: 'I don't want Cassie to be fully evil'

The-Secret-Circle-Robertson

Veering into the darker corners of Cassie’s powers has been a welcome challenge for former Life Unexpected star Britt Robertson. Last week’s new episode turned up the evil volume as viewers got a chance to see the teen witch in action — once with a dream sequence and again in a tense scene that almost resulted in Adam’s strangulation. But while playing the darker moments have been fun, Robertson admits it’s not something she’d want to see take over her character’s life. “It’s cool to see every now and then. Of course, I don’t want Cassie to be fully evil,” she says. “It’s difficult because you don’t want to shock the audience with something that’s completely out of left field. So there has to be a gradual build.”

And build it has — with more to come. “At this point, she’s been given the opportunity and power and she can’t deny that. It’s something she has to take on from this point forward and she’ll have to take on that responsibility. But it will be a struggle for sure,” she says.

She can be certain that Adam, one of two of her character’s love interests on the show, will be by her side — despite his near-death experience at her hands. “You’ve seen him be an outstanding guy. I know he really cares about Cassie, but there will be that tinge of, ‘Who is she?’ ‘What’s going on with her?’ I think he really wants to figure out what’s going on inside of her and he’ll help her figure that out. But in reality, he cares about her and wants to be with her kind of. And he’ll help her out more than be afraid of her.”

Tonight’s episode will be a prime example of his helpful ways, adds Robertson, as Adam helps her look into the past as the Circle continues to become aware of her capabilities. “It’s an exciting episode. You’ll ge to see Faye and her discovery of Cassie getting to take on this dark power,” she says. “You’ll get to see the two of them go head-to-head and battle it out a little bit. And you’ll get to see the Circle together doing things as a group again.”

Then there’s Jake, who at the end of the last episode was seen lurking outside Cassie’s window.  “There’s definitely no homecoming party for Jake,” she says of Chris Zylka’s character’s return. “Cassie will have difficulty trusting him again and he makes his grand entrance in a very interesting way. He’s in this episode in a way audiences won’t expect.”

It seems as though even Vampire Barbie has her dark days. And tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries will find poor Caroline having one of her darkest days yet as her 18th birthday approaches. The small issues that has the birthday girl down in the dumps? Vampires don’t have birthdays.

“This is Caroline’s first realization that she will never be normal and there are a lot of things that she will ever be a part of — and one of them is her 18th birthday,” says Candice Accola. “I think a lot of people look forward to their 18th birthday, and I think it’s a year that marks when you’re an adult. And so it kind of is also a realization she will always be a teenager — a young teenager forever.” READ FULL STORY »

'The Finder': Star Geoff Stults, creator Hart Hanson on what to expect from the 'Bones' pseudo-spin-off

Finder-Stults

Tonight, after the long-awaited winter finale of Bones treats us to a new big bad, Fox debuts The Finder. If you saw the Bones episode last spring that introduced us to Walter Sherman (Happy Town‘s Geoff Stults), you’ll recall that he’s a former military policeman who believes the brain damage he suffered in Iraq is responsible for the nonlinear thinking that now allows him to find anything and anyone (guest star John Fogerty’s guitar and a downed pilot, in the premiere). ”It’s got elements of The Fall Guy, The Rockford Files, and Magnum, P.I.,” Stults says. ”I’ve been flying ultralights. I’ve been underwater. I’ve gotten beat up by contortionists. My whole goal is that it’s an hour of fun.” What else awaits us? Here’s what Stults and creator Hart Hanson had to say:

• Partial nudity: ”It seems like every episode they’re finding ways to make Walter take his clothes off. It’s ridiculous. He’s definitely pre- and post-coitus,” Stults says. Walter has an on-again, off-again relationship with Deputy U.S. Marshal Isabel Zambada (Mercedes Masöhn), with whom he trades information. “What else does he do… He’s on a jet ski. He’s running. It’s Miami, it’s hot. So he’s always got a reason to have his shirt off. Sometimes I’ll look at a script, I’ll read it real quickly, and go, ‘Alright, good. I don’t have to take my shirt off. I don’t have to work out.’ And then I’ll realize that I never read the fine print, and I’m like, ‘Ah, son of a bitch.’ Then I gotta run in the other room to do push-ups or something.”  READ FULL STORY »
