'90210' preview: First Look at Carly Rae Jepsen. Plus, 5 teases for the new season!

A Canadian singer on the brink had her song, “Call Me Maybe,” featured in the season finale of 90210. Just a few short months later, Carly Rae Jepsen, will perform in the show’s fifth season premiere. But now, she’s a superstar.

“I listened to 20 seconds and said “Yea!” It hadn’t even come out yet. But you listened to it and knew it was amazing,” executive producer Lara Olsen recalls. But neither Olsen nor fellow EP Patti Carr could have predicted the success that would come to the singer over the summer, they say, and they consider themselves lucky for scoring the star for a guest spot right in the middle of her meteoric rise to fame.

In the episode, Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) goes to Las Vegas to perform during intermission at Jepsen’s poolside show. And though her speaking parts are brief, Carr says Jepsen earns a lot of credit for playing one of the toughest roles out there — herself. “She was not entirely sure how she would do. She had some trepidation and wanted to make sure this was something she felt comfortable with,” says Carr. “By the end of the day and the end of the takes where she was speaking, it was clear that she is totally comfortable [on camera]. Next time, she can play herself even better and can play it even more!”

Meanwhile, Jepsen is not the only high-profile guest star set for this season, which kicks off Monday. Carr and Olsen opened up about some of the other faces fans will be seeing this season and gave a few choice teases about what to expect: READ FULL STORY

Ryan Lochte books '90210' gig

Ryan Lochte is coming back to TV — but this time Rowdy Gaines won’t be narrating his every move.

The Olympic medalist and grill enthusiast has booked his first scripted TV gig on CW’s 90210. He will make a cameo as a hotel guest in an episode that finds Naomi and Max heading to a resort to strengthen their relationship. It will air Oct. 29.

“When we found out Ryan Lochte was going to be in town and might appear on 90210, we felt like we’d won a gold medal!” executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen said in a statement. “Team USA are all-stars in our book, and we’re so excited he’s making an appearance on the show. We only wish the episode was a surf event so we could have gotten him in the water, but he deserves a little rest on dry land.”

The NCIS team has been through a lot of tough times together — but could the aftermath of last year’s finale explosion include some deep emotional and psychological consequences? That’s what one guest star will be tasked with finding out in the second episode of the upcoming tenth season. “A head-shrinker is coming to assess the mental status of our people,” star Michael Weatherly reveals. “And I don’t think anyone on this team should ever get looked at too closely by a psychiatrist.” READ FULL STORY

Carly Rae Jepsen to guest star on '90210'

We’ve been hearing Carly Rae Jepsen sing “This is crazy / But here’s my number” seemingly everywhere for months, but now we finally have some digits for her – well, a zip code at least. The “Call Me Maybe” singer will make an appearance on the season 5 premiere of The CW’s 90210. CBS Television Studios, which produces the show, announced the news today.

Jepsen will perform a song from her upcoming album and will play herself as the headliner for Adrianna’s Las Vegas show.

“We fell in love with [‘Call Me Maybe’] when we first heard it and used it in last season’s finale before it was a national sensation,” 90210 executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen said in a statement. “We think she’s an exciting artist and are thrilled to be able to have her music on the show again, this time in a live performance in our season premiere.”

The episode will air Monday, Oct. 8.

'90210': Backstreet Boy Nick Carter talks about his guest spot. Plus, an EXCLUSIVE CLIP!

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is going to find himself in the middle of some major drama on 90210.

Playing himself in a cameo on tonight’s episode, Carter winds up at Madison’s (Caitlin Thompson) bachelorette party after Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) develops a scheme to break Madison and Max apart. The best way to do that? Temptation, says Naomi in the exclusive clip below, “and what screams temptation more than a Backstreet Boy with his shirt off?”

For Carter, shirtless or not, he was simply pleased to get back into the acting saddle. “I haven’t done [any acting] in a while because I’ve been touring like crazy,” says the singer, whose band is currently on tour with New Kids on the Block. “So I called up my agent and [asked] if there are any opportunities, and they came back with 90210. Even though it was a cameo and I would have rather played a part — an actual character — I took it up to get my face back out there and get my feet wet again.”

Or in this case, his shirt wet. But that’s far from the only disaster he finds himself in the middle of during the episode. “There definitely was some drama because [Madison and I] are caught in a backroom,” he says. “They bust through the door, take photos, and they expect us to be doing something dirty — but it ends up backfiring.” READ FULL STORY

'90210': Matt Lanter previews Liam and Navid's big fight -- and more to come?

The love triangle of Liam, Silver, and Navid will reach a boiling point in tonight’s episode of 90210.

In Navid’s absence, viewers have seen Liam and Silver develop a bond as Silver dealt with health issues (specifically, whether or not she had the breast cancer gene). They eventually slept together (surprise, surprise!) and seemingly on cue, Navid came back — oblivious to what had gone on. And when the secret comes out tonight, there will be fireworks, says star Matt Lanter.

“Silver is literally and figuratively right in the middle of it,” he says of the big confrontation, which takes place at Liam’s movie premiere. “Pretty much from there, it’s on between the guys. In the next few episodes, you’re going to see a lot of back and forth, insults, bickering and maybe [see them get] to the point of fighting again.”

Silver’s decision is not to be taken lightly, though, he adds. This is more than your average puppy love in her eyes. After learning she is, indeed, a carrier of the gene, she’s having to face big life decisions much sooner than anticipated. “Ultimately, who she chooses is basically [an indication of] her future,” he says. “With her situation, it’s not just, ‘Do I want to date Navid or Liam?’ It’s, if I pick Navid, that means I want to have a baby with him. I want to be with him for the rest of my life. That means he’s the father of my child. Those are huge decisions.”
