'How I Met Your Mother' stars recall the time they rhymed all their lines: A 'Bedtime Stories' preview

The ninth and final season of How I Met Your Mother has been all about stretching the sitcom limits: All 24 episodes take place over the course of one wedding weekend, and in another narrative twist, Monday night’s half-hour (8 p.m. ET on CBS) will play out entirely in rhyme.

Last week, EW was on the set of the show’s 200th episode — premiering at the end of January — and we had to ask a few questions about the clever concept. So far, we know that the episode (titled “Bedtime Stories”) has Marshall (Jason Segel) trying to get baby Marvin to sleep with some very personal nursery rhymes.

“The structure of the flashbacks are that Marshall is recounting crazy things that happened to each one of us,” Neil Patrick Harris told EW on set, adding that two of the three acts involve Barney and his fiancée Robin (Cobie Smulders). “There’s a great adventure that Robin tells about this crazy night where she had superhuman powers, and then Barney recounts this dream tale of how he is the ultimate player in New York City.”

Alyson Hannigan pitches a 'How I Met Your Mother' spin-off and talks J.J. Abrams, 'Buffy,' and 'Star Wars'. (How's that for a headline?)

Alyson Hannigan who plays Lily on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother doesn’t want the fun to end, even though CBS announced the series would sign off after 9 seasons this spring. “I’m trying to convince [Jason] Segel to do the spin-off,” says Hannigan. “He said he’ll do it if it’s called, Out By Lunch and we can get out by lunch everyday and we only work a couple days a week. I’m like, ‘I’m in.’ We can do it—we work really quickly together.” READ FULL STORY

'How I Met Your Mother' stars tear up at Comic-Con over final season -- VIDEO

We didn’t mean to make them cry!

The How I Met Your Mother cast — Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, and Jason Segel — sat down with EW’s Laura Hertzfeld at Comic-Con, and what started as a lighthearted interview (“Kiefer Sutherland is the mom!”) turned emotional when we asked what the actors will miss most after their ninth and final season.

See the clearly tight-knit cast (the five of them even shared one couch that would barely fit Segel by himself) open up in the video below:

Seth Green teases 'Robot Chicken' Christmas special, reunion with Alyson Hannigan on 'How I Met Your Mother'

Christmas comes early for fans of Seth Green this year: On Sunday, Robot Chicken’s ATM Christmas Special premieres (Adult Swim, midnight ET), and on Monday, he reunites with his Buffy the Vampire Slayer costar Alyson Hannigan on How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8 p.m. ET).

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: This is your first time acting opposite Alyson on-screen since Buffy.

SETH GREEN: Since then, yes. But Aly and I have worked together since we were teenagers. I think she was 11 or 12, and I was like 13 when we met. We did a movie called My Stepmother is an Alien [1988], and then she made another TV show called Free Spirit and I did a guest spot on that, and then Buffy. She actually jokes that the only thing in her career that I haven’t been a part of is the American Pie movies. [Laughs]

Perhaps you’ll get your chance.

Well, we’ll see. That reunion seemed to tie it all up. READ FULL STORY
