American Horror Story returns later this year with Freak Show, the latest installment in Ryan Murphy’s ongoing effort to wrap all of American history up into a beautiful, bizarro-kinky bow. The new season of everyone’s favorite Jessica Lange Bitchface Delivery System will feature a carnivalesque crew of characters, and the moody first teaser presents a Fallen Angel and the devil(ish clown) on her shoulder.
UPDATE: Turns out the teaser was actually a fan-made video and not an official American Horror Story release. The video has been removed from YouTube. READ FULL STORY
Wes Bentley has gone from an American Beauty to an American Horror Story.
The Hunger Games actor will once again show off his dark side in the two-part Halloween episode of the upcoming season of FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show. EW has confirmed that Bentley will play Eddie, a shady figure from Kathy Bates’ character’s past seeking revenge. The project reunites Bentley with show cocreator Ryan Murphy after working together on the HBO pilot Open.
The FX anthology hit’s fourth season will center around on the last American freak show in 1950s Florida with returning stars to the series Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy and Bates as well as newcomer to the group, Michael Chiklis.
Something wicked must be brewing in San Diego, as Fox Television has promised a first-time appearance from FX series American Horror Story during Comic-Con. In fact, the members of last season’s coven—including Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates, through to Sarah Paulson and Emma Roberts—will make an appearance.
In a press release, Fox also promised 24‘s Kiefer Sutherland, who will arrive for a 24 retrospective, as well as more first-time witchery from Salem and Witches of East End.
Sarah Paulson gave American Horror Story fans an exciting glimpse at the characters she will be playing on the upcoming Freak Show season. Yes, characters.
Paulson tweeted out a picture revealing that she would be playing both Bette and Dot, who appear to be siamese twins and likely an attraction at the 1950s Florida freak show run by Jessica Lange’s character. READ FULL STORY
'American Horror Story: Freak Show': A bearded lady? A scary clown? Details on the new season -- EXCLUSIVE
FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show, about a 1950s Florida freak show run by a German (Jessica Lange, naturally), won’t premiere until later this year — but co-creator Ryan Murphy is revealing some more details on what he and the writers have in store for the series’ fourth iteration.
“It was always a concept that Jessica and I talked about really early on,” says Murphy of Freak Show. “It was always her favorite one, which I thought was funny. I’ve had many different versions that I’ve run by her. I just love it. It feels really right. I thought it was going to be light but it’s turning out to be quite terrifyingly dark, which it feels much more like the Asylum season. But look — if you have a character named the Clown Killer, it’s going to be dark.” READ FULL STORY
Michael Chiklis is making a freaky return to television.
The Emmy-winning actor has joined the cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show. The announcement was made onstage at the final night of this year’s PaleyFest during the American Horror Story: Coven panel. Chiklis is new to the Ryan Murphy world of actors and will join previous Horror Story regulars Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Basset and Frances Conroy in the fourth season of the franchise.
Murphy revealed that Chiklis will be playing Evan Peters’ character’s father and Kathy Bates’ ex-husband. As previously reported exclusively on EW, Freak Show will be set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950 and feature Lange as a German ex-pat managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.
Fans have been hoping that the new season of American Horror Story would be set at a carnival, and they’re not soooo far off. Co-creator Ryan Murphy announced via his Twitter account that season 4 will be called Freak Show. But what does that mean exactly? EW has uncovered exclusive new details about the secretive season.
Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S. Her group of “unusuals”? Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy all play performers whom Lange’s character has rescued; Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return. Freak Show’s 13 episodes will track this group as they do anything to keep their business around.
