'Army Wives' star Kim Delaney delivers discombobulated speech

Army Wives star Kim Delaney made headlines on Friday after a video of her appearing disoriented during a public address on Thursday night made its way onto the Internet. From the National Constitution Center’s podium during the presentation of the Liberty Medal Award to former defense secretary Robert Gates, Delaney took frequent pauses and fumbled her words while speaking of her own experiences serving in active military duty and comforting friends who have lost family in wartime. Almost as an after thought, she mentioned that these were not actually her own experiences, but those of her character on Army Wives, confusing the silent crowd. Delaney, who has reportedly battled alcohol addiction in the past, was escorted from the stage before her speech was finished, reported ABC’s local affiliate WPVI Philadelphia.

Delaney’s representatives are not commenting. See the full video below:  READ FULL STORY

Question: I came home for spring break to find that my mother had sold my Smurf collection on eBay. The only thing that could make me feel better is little Glee scoop. —Blake
My partner tried to do the same thing with my collection. He’s now missing something very near and dear to him. Coincidence? I think not. Question: Do you know if True Blood‘s third season will feature Bubba? He’s not exactly a major character in the books, but I still love him. —Kristal
Unfortunately, Alan Ball says he couldn’t figure out a way to introduce Bubba “without it being cheesy,” adding, “I don’t know how to do it without either using an Elvis impersonator, which is cheesy, or having somebody and never seeing their face, just hearing their voice — and to me that sounds equally cheesy. So that’s just one of the casualties of the transfer from book to screen.”

Question: I want some juicy Grey’s Anatomy news, not somewhat juicy, but very juicy. C’mon you can do it! —Sarah
We’ll find out in an upcoming episode that a major character — one of the original Fab Five — grew up in foster care. READ FULL STORY

Exclusive: 'Army Wives' Creator Relieved of Duty

Armywives_lArmy Wives‘ top lieutenant has been discharged. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the creator of Lifetime’s top-rated drama ever, Katherine Fugate, has been shown the door.

Army Wives is a fantastic tribute to the real life heroes serving in our armed forces and I’m so happy to have been a part of it,” Fugate said in a statement. “With the show such an established hit, now seems like a logical time for me to step away and focus on developing new projects.”

Rumors of behind-the-scenes tension between Fugate and the show’s corporate spouses, Lifetime and ABC Studios, have persisted pretty much since day one. As evidence, Wives has weathered three show-runner changes in its two years on the air. The most recent switch came this spring, when Dee Johnson was relieved of duty and replaced by Nick Thiel.

In its own statement, ABC Studios said, “Katherine is incredibly talented and we’re grateful for her work in creating Army Wives. We are very happy to have had the opportunity to work with her.”

What exactly does this mean for Army Wives? Probably not much. Thiel has pretty much been running the show these past few months, and I’m told he’s not going anywhere. Whispers an Army source: “Everyone is very happy with Nick.”
