'Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous' axed

Zach Stone is most definitely not going to be famous. (Low-hanging fruit, I know.)

MTV has decided not to pick up another season of its freshman comedy Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, starring comedian Bo Burnham, who played a teen who tries to become a reality TV star by hiring his own camera crew.

Proving that his sense of humor remains intact, however, Burnham began tweeting popular fast food restaurant chains, asking if they were hiring. The good news: Someone replied! See below.

'Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous' review: Rising above the superficial, one-joke premise

Zach Stone just graduated from high school. He lives with his parents. He works part-time at a grocery store. And he has no plans for college. Instead, he chose to spend his savings on a camera crew to film a reality show about his life. He’s convinced he’s going to be famous.

MTV’s latest half-hour scripted sitcom, Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous, is a meta-takedown of the “anyone can be famous” mold of reality television. As the show’s co-creator and star,┬áBo Burnham brings manic irreverence to the character of Zach Stone while trying to make his life more interesting than it is, much to the annoyance and bewilderment of everyone around him.

Sneak a peek at Bo Burnham's MTV comedy 'Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

How can I increase my number of Twitter followers? Am I making too much of a duck face in this profile pic? I could totally be a reality star, right? These are the questions of our times, and the last of them is at the heart of MTV’s Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous. The half-hour scripted comedy stars comedian Bo Burnham as Zach Stone, a self-absorbed dude with no discernible talents who has just graduated from high school. Instead of expanding his mind in college, he decides to expand his ego by trying to become a reality star and hires a camera crew to record his daily life for TV. This show is the result.

Check out the trailer below, and get your first glimpse of “the pre-celebrity” who is either going to wind up as a “famous writer, producer, actor, director, dancer, crab fisherman, slut,” or just plain broke. (Plus, Biff from Back to the Future as his dad!) READ FULL STORY
