'Bones' drops out of Comic-Con

Booth and Brennan won’t be sleuthing it out in San Diego this year: EW has confirmed that Fox‘s Bones will no longer have a panel at the 2011 Comic-Con. Stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel were to join creator/exec producer Hart Hanson, and executive producer Stephen Nathan on Friday at 1:45 p.m. in the geek confab’s spacious Ballroom 20, but a rep for the show says Boreanaz and Deschanel pulled out of the panel “for personal reasons.” There will be no replacement panel from Fox.

'Bones' EP Stephen Nathan talks finale's big Brennan twist, teases season 7

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t yet watched the Bones season finale — or been spoiled by a Canadian fan who saw it a day before it aired in the U.S. — then stop reading now. 'Bones' season finale sends Booth and Brennan undercover as a couple -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP

Last week’s episode of Bones had us wondering what Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) did under the covers in his bed. (He just held her after the loss of Mr. Nigel-Murray, right?) Tonight’s season finale (Fox, 9 p.m. ET) sends them undercover in a bowling alley, and we know what they’re doing: posing as a couple to solve a murder. Watch them in action in our exclusive clip below. Previewing the season finale for EW, Deschanel poked fun at her look: ”I’m kinda like the missing member of Quiet Riot or Twisted Sister,” she laughed. “That’s the crazy thing about Bones: It’s like, ‘We’re gonna go undercover!’ and we’re the most conspicuous people in the bowling alley.” Mullet jokes aside, she also gave us a serious piece of advice for the show’s ‘shippers: “People need to watch to the very end of the episode because things are revealed and something changes their relationship forever,” she teased. Is tonight the night they finally become a couple, or are our minds just in the gutter?

We’ll be chatting with executive producer Stephen Nathan after the finale airs on the East Coast, so post your questions for him here by 10:15 p.m. ET. Come back at 1 a.m. ET to read the interview. UPDATE: Let’s keep the comments section spoiler-free, lucky Canadians who’ve already seen the episode. Spoilerphobes, we’d recommend NOT reading the comments on this post, just to be safe. Ryan Cartwright on Vincent Nigel Murray's [SPOILER] last night on 'Bones' -- EXCLUSIVE

SPOILERS AHEAD: Ryan Cartwright was in Toronto when he called EW, almost 16 hours after his character Vincent Nigel Murray took a bullet intended for Booth on Bones. And he was quite cheery for a man who’d just died.

He has every reason to be, though. Not only did his character manage to capture the hearts of fans in just a few spotty episodes, but his Syfy channel pilot, Alphas, ensures that Cartwright (pictured, right) has a place to call home post-Bones. Not to mention, he gets the satisfaction of possibly being the man who is responsible for finally getting Booth and Brennan together. In our exclusive chat, we cover this and more with our dearly departed squintern.  READ FULL STORY

Fox picks up 'Bones' spin-off 'The Finder,' J.J. Abrams 'Alcatraz' to series

UPDATED: Fox just picked up two dramas to series: The Finder, a spin-off of its hit drama Bones starring Geoff Stults, and Alcatraz, the J.J. Abrams mystery featuring Lost co-star Jorge Garcia.

Finder has Stults as a former military policeman whose brain damage from two tours in Iraq have given him the ability to locate anything or anyone. The 13-episode order comes despite the fact that ratings for the backdoor pilot episode of Bones featuring Stults (and costars Saffron Burrows and Michael Clarke Duncan) were down 9 percent from the previous week’s episode.

The Alcatraz pilot had soft industry buzz after its screenings, but Abrams’ pedigree  (and some of that Lost magic?) probably helped it snag a spot on the Fox schedule.

Here are some of the higher profile projects we are hearing that are not expected to be on Fox’s schedule next season: READ FULL STORY

Season finale alert! When to expect goodbye episodes from 'Survivor,' 'Chuck,' and 'Saturday Night Live'

Where did the time ago? It seems like just yesterday that we were anxiously awaiting the start of Lone Star; now we can barely remember that two-timing cad. That’s because it’s season finale time – that heartbreaking period when we bid adieu to nine months of scripted heaven to make way for three months of unscripted hell on the broadcast networks. (Don’t worry, Big Brother: We still adore thee).

Emily Deschanel on her pregnancy being worked into 'Bones': 'I think it's unlikely, but only time will tell'

Ever since Emily Deschanel's
pregnancy was announced in March, Bones fans have been wondering how her fall due date will affect the show. Now that the Fox drama has finally received a season 7 pickup, that's something producers are in the process of deciding -- both in terms of story and production schedule. "I imagine that you're gonna see Brennan behind a microscope a lot next season. I think there's gonna be a lot of close-ups of Brennan. I said I'd work though my hiatus, but we didn't have a pick up until now, and they have to write before we shoot. It's a whole situation," Deschanel tells EW, with a laugh. "They have to see how long it takes them to write episodes. I think we'll have our normal schedule starting in July or something, but I don't know. We just had an email about that [yesterday]

. Like, ‘We don’t know… but these are possibilities.”

The bigger question for viewers, of course, is whether Brennan will become pregnant as well. READ FULL STORY

What’s this?

What’s this?

There are finales everywhere. What’s this?

I can’t believe my eyes; I must be dreaming. Wake up, Sandra, this isn’t fair!

Woah! Musical introduction. This is what the end of the season does to me, folks. I’m losing it. But that also means summer’s on the way, so remember to start sending your scoop requests for summer TV soon! And, as a special treat, please also send your season finale questions as well.

As usual, all queries/suggestions/ponderings get sent to or @EWSandraG. And as a reminder, we’re on summer schedule now. So Spoiler Room will be on Fridays only, until late summer.

Thanks, y’all.

'Bones' renewed for seventh season

David Boreanaz tweeted moments ago that Fox’s Bones has been picked up for a seventh season.

“OT! Orange and Black craziness! Oh, Season 7 is GO for Bones,” he tweeted.

Fox could not immediately confirm, but we’re confident that he’s right.

'Bones' spin-off 'The Finder,' Will Ferrell on 'The Office' dip in ratings

Broadcast ratings dropped sharply Thursday night, which wasn’t great for key episodes of NBC’s The Office and Fox’s Bones.

The Bones spin-off “backdoor pilot” The Finder (11.1 million, 3.2) was down 9 percent from last week’s regular episode. Yet, since its American Idol lead-in (19.6 million, 5.6) fell 13 percent, one could argue Bones retained a slightly larger portion of its lead-in this week.

Over on NBC, The Office (6.8 million, 3.3) dropped 18 percent as Will Ferrell continues as guest star and the show ramps up to Steve Carell’s departure.

The working theory: With the Easter holiday approaching and Spring Break underway, many viewers are traveling and therefore TV viewership is down (one reason why ABC and CBS are staying out of the game and aired repeats last night). READ FULL STORY
