'SHIELD' pilot screens at Comic-Con: Here's what we thought

The room exploded. When Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb revealed the “clip” of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the entire pilot, Ballroom 20 broke into cheers. Comic-Con got to be the first audience to watch the eagerly awaited show’s first episode, a pilot that even industry reporters and many Hollywood insiders had not yet viewed.

So how was it?

In a way, judging a pilot from this screening is really tough. Because there is arguably no better audience for S.H.I.E.L.D. than this crowd. As I’ve pointed out before, the action-drama seems like it was conceived by fans waiting in line at Hall H — Marvel comics plus hit movie franchise plus Joss Whedon plus, uh, let’s resurrect Agent Coulson!

Peter Jackson says he is still interested in directing an episode of 'Doctor Who' (and names his fee) -- EXCLUSIVE

Peter Jackson has exclusively confirmed that he is still interested in directing an episode of Doctor Who. The Lord of the Rings filmmaker has also named his fee: a Dalek. The offer came in the course of Jackson’s appreciation of the British science fiction show that appears in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.

Jackson is a diehard Who fan who has been watching the 50-year-old series almost since it began broadcasting and who first expressed his willingness to direct an episode last year. In the EW article, he reveals that he met current Who executive producer Steven Moffat over Christmas and assured him he wasn’t joking. “They don’t even have to pay me,” Jackson writes. Reece Shearsmith cast as Patrick Troughton in 'Doctor Who' origins movie 'An Adventure in Space and Time'

Reece Shearsmith has been cast as actor Patrick Troughton in the TV movie An Adventure in Space and Time, which details the creation of Doctor Who. Troughton was the second actor to play the Time Lord in the long-running time travel show, taking over the role from William Hartnell in 1966. As previously announced, Harry Potter actor David Bradley has been cast as Hartnell.

'Harry Potter' actor cast as William Hartnell in 'Doctor Who' movie 'An Adventure in Space and Time'

Hogwarts will meet Who in the forthcoming TV movie An Adventure in Space and Time, which details the creation of the 50-year-old British science-fiction show Doctor Who. It has been announced that Harry Potter actor David Bradley, who played Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch in the beloved film series, will portray “First Doctor” William Hartnell in the TV movie.

Meanwhile, Brian Cox (The Bourne Identity) is set to portray BBC Head of Drama Sydney Newman and Jessica Raine has been cast as Doctor Who producer Verity Lambert. BBC America — which is co-producing the film with BBC Cymru Wales — will premiere the movie in the U.S. later this year.
