Tag: Carson Daly (1-5 of 5)
NBC’s hit singing competition is well known by now for shaking up the rules to keep things fresh, and this season The Voice did just that by introducing the Twitter save feature, a concept that allows fans to get involved and decide the fate of which artist in the bottom three gets to go on to sing another week. With season 6 coming to a close next week, EW caught up with show host and executive producer Carson Daly to find out how he thinks the new feature fared overall during its inaugural season. Just call him Carson Twice-Daly.
The host of NBC’s Last Call — which airs weeknights at 1:35 a.m. Eastern — just snagged himself a morning job. Today has announced that on Sept. 16, Daly will join the show permanently as “the host of our brand new Orange Room,” a sort of digital/social media lounge that “connects the show and the audience like never before.”
In other words: He is to Today as Christina Milian is (was?) to The Voice.
When The Voice first hit the reality-television scene years ago, there were a number of things that set it apart from other singing competitions — including the chemistry between coaches Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton. And now, after a season without Aguilera and Green, the original foursome is reuniting for season 5 … and it feels so good.
In NBC’s newest promo, Levine and Shelton are enjoying a fishing trip together, reminiscing about how much they miss the show’s original divas by singing “Reunited,” when Aguilera and her killer vocals emerge from a critter-filled forest, and Green, who has since become Poseidon, rises from the depths of the sea to join the performance. But how will they get everyone safely to set? Oh, that’s right! Carson Daly has a yacht! As Green put it, “Now that is ridiculous.”

'The Voice': Charlotte Sometimes, Tony Vincent and Jermaine Paul talk battle rounds, coaches, and Purrfect the cat -- VIDEO
Week one of battle rounds may be over, but that doesn’t mean that the remaining artists left on NBC’s The Voice can rest easy. In fact, the pressure is higher than ever, and three of this season’s contestants dropped by EW to talk about just that.
Charlotte Sometimes (Team Blake), Jermaine Paul (Team Blake) and Tony Vincent (Team Cee Lo) — all New York locals — swung by the EW office last week to answer some of the more pressing questions we had (that host Carson Daly doesn’t already answer for us!). How does it feel to be a Twitter trending topic? What’s life like in Cee Lo Land? And have they ever gotten the pleasure – nay, privilege – of encountering Purrfect the cat?
