'The Good Wife' guest stars Dylan Baker and Laura Benanti set to return

A fan-favorite (alleged) lady-killer is coming back to The Good Wife.

Dylan Baker’s wonderfully creepy Colin Sweeney will return for a season-six episode airing in 2015. Here’s what co-creator Robert King says: “Colin Sweeney wants the firm to sue a TV show for defamation after the show steals his character, and makes it look like he killed his first wife. Laura Benanti also returns as his estranged third wife, Renata, who decides to testify against him in court.”

Baker earned his third Emmy nomination earlier this year for his portrayal of Sweeney. The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on CBS.

Lily Rabe to appear on 'American Horror Story: Freak Show,' reprise 'Asylum' role

The American Horror Story installments of Asylum and Freak Show just became even more connected: EW has exclusively learned that Lily Rabe will be appearing on Freak Show and reprising her Asylum role as nun Sister Mary Eunice. The actress, who has appeared in every season of AHS and is currently starring in the ABC midseason series The Whispers, will shoot her spot this weekend.

The reason for Sister Mary’s return involves Pepper (Naomi Grossman) and how she ended up going from the freak show to Asylum‘s titular institution, Briarcliff. Rabe’s appearance will be on AHS‘ 10th episode, which is their big winter cliffhanger.

EW has also confirmed reports that Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka, will indeed appear on Freak Show this season but in separate episodes.

'Sleepy Hollow' casts 'Tudors' alum in mysterious role

Max-Brown

Fox’s Sleepy Hollow is getting another infusion of British talent: EW has learned exclusively that Yorkshire native Max Brown has been cast in a pivotal role.

Brown may be best known for playing medical examiner Evan Marks on The CW’s Beauty and the Beast and Edward Seymour, brother of King Henry VIII’s third wife Jane, on Showtime’s The Tudors. (He was also set to star as a thief named Ambrose in Hieroglyph, Fox’s splashy Ancient Egypt-set series—which was canceled before it even had a chance to premiere.) On Sleepy Hollow, Fox says he’ll portray “a powerful and mysterious new ally known, at first, only as Orion—a charismatic soldier who possesses a game changing weapon.”

Brown’s first episode is slated to air after Sleepy returns from its winter hiatus in January. The drama airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.

'Battlestar Galactica' star Jamie Bamber joins The CW's 'The Messengers'

The Messengers, one of the CW’s midseason shows, tells the story of five strangers affected when a mysterious object hits Earth. After collapsing, all five individuals come back to life just hours later with inexplicable powers, including strength and the power to heal. But once things begin to become more clear, those affected realize that they might be Earth’s only hope for stopping the Rapture … or perhaps, they’re causing it.

The Messengers currently stars Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-D’Elia, JD Pardo, Joel Courtney, Anna Diop, and Diogo Morgado. And now, EW has learned exclusively that two others have joined the mix.

NBC is getting a little slap-happy.

The network has added Thandie Newton and Melissa George to its upcoming miniseries, The Slap, which is based on the 2011 Australian project of the same name. Written by Jon Robin Baitz (The West Wing), The Slap is described as “a complex family drama that explodes from one small incident where a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child.” From there, secrets are exposed, a lawsuit is filed, and all kinds of drama ensues in the miniseries, which has an eight-episode order.

New 'AHS: Freak Show' details: Who plays who? What's the plot?

For months we’ve gotten little tidbits on the latest season of American Horror Story, like the character names and guest stars. Now, in EW’s Fall TV Preview, readers get to see behind the curtain of Freak Show.

This latest installment of AHS is about a titular group of misfit performers, led by former German cabaret star Elsa Mars (Emmy winner Jessica Lange), who arrive in the small town of Jupiter, Florida.”My character is very manipulative,” says Lange. “She understands what’s needed and she provides it. However the thing I want to be very clear that Elsa really loves these people. She truly cares for them in her own selfish narcissistic way. It’s not just exploitation.” READ FULL STORY

Matt Bomer to guest star on 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

There will be nothing white collar — or normal — about Matt Bomer’s next TV gig.

EW has learned that the Emmy nominee will guest star on one episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show. Creator Ryan Murphy broke the news himself at EW’s Emmy Party saying he’s excited to reunite once again with the “amazing” actor, who is nominated this year for his performance in The Normal Heart, also directed by Murphy.

“I try to get him to do everything for me,” Murphy told EW. “I sent him a text that said, ‘First right of refusal, here’s the role.’ It’s very…warped.” Murphy said he had to work around Bomer’s schedule filming Magic Mike 2 in order to make the appearance work.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on FX on Wednesday, October 8th.

Paul Reubens to play bad on 'The Blacklist'

The guest list for NBC’s The Blacklist continues to grow: Paul Reubens has been cast as Mr. Vargas, a dapper, finicky “muscle” who handles delicate situations in the criminal underworld, EW has learned exclusively. He’ll first appear in season two’s third episode, with the arc slated for at least two episodes. “We’re forgoing the bow tie and the bicycle, and it’s going to be something totally different, and it’s gonna be awesome,” executive producer Jon Bokenkamp says. “It can’t get strange enough for me. One of the most fun things is being able to write for actors who I’ve admired and think are interesting and try to play against expectations. I think this will be a fun one. I’d say he’s gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red’s orbit.”

“It started with the character,” he says. “We knew what he would feel like and sound like, and then as we started kicking around names, Paul’s name came up as, ‘Well, that would be cool. That will never happen, but we might as well ask.’”

Reubens started work on the show Friday. Other guest stars in season two include Mary-Louise Parker, Lee Tergesen, and Krysten Ritter. Peter Stormare will, of course, return as Berlin.

Kyle MacLachlan joins 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' as Skye's father

Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first premiered, the show has been hinting at the identity of Skye’s parents. It’s been an ongoing topic of discussion between May and Coulson, and one that climaxed in the season 1 finale, when Raina handed an unknown person a photo of Skye claiming that she’d found his daughter.

Although we don’t know how he will fit into the context of the show, Skye’s father will definitely enter the mix in season 2. Sources confirm that Kyle MacLachlan has been cast in the role, though there’s no word yet on how long he’ll be sticking around.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m ET on ABC.
