'Psych': Guest star Christopher Lloyd talks the 'Clue'-inspired 100th episode

Great Scott! Psych has reached episode number 100!

And how better to celebrate the milestone for the oft-’80s-referencing, wacky USA Network show than to salute a wacky ’80s movie? Psych’s 100th episode, which airs tonight, fully embraces its Clue theme, complete with guest stars plucked right from the 1985 film: Lesley Ann Warren (Clue’s Miss Scarlet), Martin Mull (Colonel Mustard), and Christopher Lloyd (Professor Plum).

In Psych’s nod to the cult classic, Shawn and Gus are invited to a mysterious party at a historic Santa Barbara mansion. Not long after they arrive and meet their fellow guests, there’s a deadly crime to solve, and five suspects emerge: the Butler, the Groupie, the Manager, the Author, and the Host.

The Clue theme is a good fit for Psych, not just because the show has mystery-solving and crime-fighting at its core, but because the comedy of each is very similar: farcical, frenetic, somehow pulling off a combo of being both delightfully over-the-top and packed with some solid deadpanning. 'Raising Hope' goes back to the future with Christopher Lloyd -- VIDEO

Back to the Future‘s Christopher Lloyd guest stars on Tuesday’s Raising Hope (Fox, 8 p.m. ET), playing a bank representative who Burt and Virginia must convince to clear Jimmy’s debt (which, because his parents are Burt and Virginia, dates back to his childhood). Even if Burt and Virginia have to give up their new DeLorean for the cause, we hope they get to keep the new DeLorean door they put on their house. Excellent idea.  READ FULL STORY

'Raising Hope' plans 'Back to the Future' episode with Christopher Lloyd -- EXCLUSIVE

Great Scott! Christopher Lloyd is coming to Fox’s Raising Hope.

Not only that, but the actor will appear in a Back to the Future-themed episode of the comedy series.

Lloyd plays a loan collector named Dennis Powers who calls on the Chances for some old debt after Jimmy (Lucas Neff) and Sabrina (Shannon Woodward) consider buying a new car on credit. We’re told you can definitely expect Lloyd (who, of course, played Emmett “Doc” Brown in the time-travel movie trilogy) to end up in the driver’s seat of a DeLorean. Lloyd’s last primetime TV acting gig was an appearance on Fox’s Fringe last year.

Raising Hope airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox. In case you missed it, here’s executive producer Greg Garcia talking to about this season.

Rumor Patrol: 'Fringe,' '90210,' 'Bones,' and more!

True! Back to the Future‘s Doc Brown has been cast as a musical hero of Walter’s who’s been in a nursing home and becomes the subject of a Fringe investigation. “Christopher plays Roscoe Joyce, a keyboardist for Walter’s favorite 1970’s band Violet Sedan Chair,” explains exec producer J.H. Wyman. Fellow EP Jeff Pinkner adds, “The lives of these two men, who have never met before, overlap in strange and unexpected ways.”

A Bones spin-off is in the works
While it’s true that series creator Hart Hanson is developing an offshoot that would revolve around the central character in Walter Sherman’s Locator novels, the new guy — a recluse who can basically find anything — will not be introduced in a December episode of Bones, sources confirm. My guess is we’ll meet him in January or February. READ FULL STORY
