'Survivor' host Jeff Probst grills 'Millers' writer John Cochran -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

First, John Cochran won Survivor. Then, he moved to L.A. to write for The Millers. And now, we’ve got an exclusive look at another installment of Surviving L.A., a four-part behind-the-scenes look at Cochran’s transition from island champion to Hollywood writer.

In the latest installment, Cochran meets the cast, forms his “main alliance” with Millers star Beau Bridges, and gets quizzed by Survivor host Jeff Probst. Cochran admits he uses the same “selfish instinct” in the writers’ room as he did on the island and says he has Survivor to thank for his success. Probst and Cochran then briefly geek out about Cheers co-creator James Burrows directing an episode of The Millers before Probst has to be on his way … leaving only his Probstégé behind.

Check in on how Cochran’s new life is treating him in the video below:

Winning Survivor comes with many perks — including the opportunity to become … a comedy writer?

It’s true! Survivor‘s John Cochran — also an EW contributor — is now working on CBS’ new comedy The Millers. To prepare for the show’s premiere, CBS is releasing four installments of behind-the-scenes footage to document Cochran’s journey from the island to the writers’ room.

EW has an exclusive look at the first installment, which shows Cochran talking about his sudden move to L.A. (with his mother, of course) and how life continues now that he considers himself a “Probstégé,” a noun defined as “an individual who is guided and supported by a successful TV host and personality,” such as the one-and-only Jeff Probst.
