'X Factor': 10 things we learned from the judges, hosts, and eliminated contestants after the show

The X Factor has wrapped up its first week of live shows, and all of the talent involved had plenty to divulge about the experience. After Thursday’s show, judges, hosts, and recently eliminated contestants made the rounds in the press lounge, which is lined with portraits of this season’s contestants and video screens displaying the show’s familiar turquoise-and-pink ‘X’ logo. EW has already told you what Simon Cowell and Khloé Kardashian had to say about the unexpectedly sheer top she wore on Wednesday night’s show. Here are 10 more things we learned on the scene about the road to unveiling the Top 12.

1. The judges tend to open up more in the press room about their elimination decision, where it’s surely easier to be honest about their decision than when they’re talking directly to the artist they’re sending home on live TV. L.A. Reid told reporters he opted to keep flamboyant Jason Brock in the competition instead of edgy David Correy because “Jason just really makes me smile. It’s fun to me. David is really strong also but just a little bit predictable kind of try-hard. I like genuine fun. I like it when people just lose themselves in their little moment.” Was it tough to make that decision? “The politically correct answer would be yes. The truth is no,” Reid admitted. READ FULL STORY

“I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that,” Couric reveals on the show, according to the New York Post. “And I know this rigidity, this feeling that if you eat one thing that’s wrong, you’re full of self-loathing and then you punish yourself, whether it’s one cookie or a stick of gum that isn’t sugarless, that I would sometimes beat myself up for that.

“How do you have a healthy relationship with food, and say, ‘You know what, I can have one cookie and it’s OK?’” she continues. “That is such a huge thing for people who wrestle with this.”

'The X Factor' promo: Demi Lovato insulted by contestant

The X Factor is set to return on Wednesday night, and fans are curious to see what new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato bring to the table. Fox decided to whet our appetites with a new clip that doesn’t flinch from saying what some might be thinking.

In the promo, a contestant insists that he’s worked “way too frickin’ hard” to hear any criticism from the four judges. New addition Demi Lovato tries to calm him down, saying: “A lot of people work really, really hard for their dreams, but it’s not meant for everybody.”

The contestant snaps back: “That’s why you use auto-tune and I don’t.” Me-ow!

Britney Spears, showcasing her surprisingly vocal side, tells him: “I want to know who let you on stage. I feel uncomfortable with you even staring at me.” (And the tunes of Spears’ “Toxic” play in the background for added effect.)

At that, the contestant storms off, retorting: “You know what? I don’t need this either.”

Check out the clip below, which includes an hysterical moment in which Simon Cowell almost chokes on his Pepsi: READ FULL STORY

'The X Factor': Simon Cowell on new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato

, so I didn’t feel that this was someone just taking a check. In the auditions, she couldn’t care less about saying no to someone. Over time that shyness, which was there at the beginning, started to go away. We’ll find out how good she is or isn’t when we go into the live shows. Demi, to me, has been a revelation. She’s hilarious. It’s like having a bratty younger sister.” As long as they don’t suddenly turn wishy-washy in front of a live audience like Paula and Nicole (remember the Rachel Crow fiasco?), we’re more than willing to give them a chance.

'How To Rock' star Cymphonique Miller spills on Cee Lo, Demi Lovato, and her famous family

The Voice‘s zaniest coach Cee Lo Green is given to rocking jumpsuits that look like they’re made of Muppets and stroking his stuffed cat Purrfect. Does that make him crazy? Possibly. But when Green showed up for a guest stint on Nick’s How to Rock (airing tonight at 8 p.m. ET), he was surprisingly understated, donning a plain black T-shirt and relatively few flashes of bling. “I’m used to seeing him in big, colorful feathers and all these crazy outfits,” laughs the show’s 15-year-old star Cymphonique Miller, “and he was really down-to-earth with his outfits when he came on set.”

Green’s no-nonsense air didn’t end with his ensemble, says Miller. “Whenever I work with an artist or someone from the music industry [who comes] into the acting world, it’s always interesting to see if they memorize lines or take the acting seriously,” she notes, adding happily that Green was “really cool and professional…. He really brought his own flavor to the role.” Green also brought his family, a fact Miller appreciated given her own famous pedigree — she’s the daughter of Master P and sister to the artist formerly known as Lil’ Romeo. Below, Miller dishes on what exactly she is doing on stage with Green, another exciting star cameo to come, and the best advice she got from upcoming X Factor judge Demi Lovato.
