Ausiello: News flash: If you thought the first seven minutes were disturbing/shocking, I strongly suggest you skip the remaining 78-odd minutes. Some seriously dark and depressing s**t goes down in that hospital, and it’s not for the faint of heart. Ausiello: Your timing is impeccable, Maria. As luck would have it, I can’t go another week without giving you some Dexter season 5 scoopage. You’re never going to believe who ends up caring for Dexter’s three motherless children. Go ahead, hazard a guess. Dex’s in-laws, you say? Wrong! It’s Deb! New showrunner Chip Johannessen tells me that in the wake of Rita’s brutal slaying, Dex turns to his sister (played by Michael C. Hall’s real-life bride, Jennifer Carpenter) to help care for the kids. And if that’s not problematic enough, all five of them will move into Dex’s old (and rather teensy) apartment! “It’s partially funny and partially not,” says Johannessen. “Deb is not exactly the most maternal person. Ausiello: I think there’s one coming in the season finale. “The finale is sort of a very unusual circumstance in that it [deals with an emergency] outside of the hospital,” explains exec producer Katie Jacobs. “Every doctor in the area is basically called because it’s a genuine, immediate, tragic situation. Fans can expect to see a heroic House, and that’s not lost on Cuddy at all.”
Question: Please tell me that CSI is taking Catherine/Vartann further. Catherine hasn’t had a stable relationship on the show in 10 years and I really loved their scenes earlier this month. —Steph

Ausiello: Funny story. Just hours before the episode aired, I asked exec producer Shane Brennan if there would be any significant movement on the ‘Tiva’ front in the coming months. Here’s what he said: “I’ll let the ‘Jetlag’ episode answer that, because I think it does. I don’t want to be more specific than that. People should watch that episode and read between the lines.” They so did it it’s not even funny.
