Question: Okay, so in order for me to make it till Thursday, I need some Grey’s Anatomy scoop—specifically on Mer-Der. —Olivia
By the time Meredith tells Derek about her pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage in next week’s episode, she will have kept both secrets for a grand total of three months. Why wait so long? “The man was shot, and he’s already feeling [responsible] for getting a bunch of people killed,” explains series creator Shonda Rhimes. “So for her to tell him that the shooting also caused her miscarriage seems a little bit cruel. He doesn’t need one more thing to worry about.” Makes sense to me!

Question: I’d love a little Grey’s Anatomy scoopbit. —Christine
Yet another Buffy grad is checking into Seattle Grace. Amber Benson (ex-Tara) will guest-star in this season’s seventh episode as the estranged daughter of one of Cristina’s patients.

Question: Any scoop on Ziva’s story line on NCIS? —Jennifer
During November sweeps, Ziva “comes face-to-face with her father for the first time since her return from Israel,” reveals exec producer Shane Brennan. “It’s an emotion-charged reunion in a two-part episode that also reveals much about the enigmatic Eli David and one of the other team members.” READ FULL STORY

Question: I know you are busy and all with getting your fall season tactics together, but can you please give me some Private Practice scoop? —Vernice
Fall season tactics? You tickle me, Vernice. Let’s grab a drink sometime. Here’s your Private spoiler: Something tragic will happen to a major character during November sweeps. It’s probably the darkest story PP has ever tackled—and this show has tackled some dark stories. Consider yourself warned.

Question: Seriously, no Fringe scoop last week? Why do I even bother to read this column? —Brett
That’s between you, your therapist, and the lovely people at CVS. If it’s any consolation, I have Fringe scoop this week. Actually, I’ve got a few Fringe scoops. The first one comes courtesy of John Noble, who reveals exactly how Walternate plans to pull Peter’s strings from the alt-universe. “[Walternate] has to ensure that [Peter] continues to work on our side,” says Noble, “and he’ll do that through alt-Olivia.” Okay, I’ll bite: How exactly will Bolivia manipulate Peter? Noble hesitates before whispering, “She seduces him… Did I just say that? Did I just drop a big teaser?” I believe you did, sir!

Question: Does the fact that Fringe is setting every other episode “over there” mean that we’re going to see more of Charlie this season? —Melissa
That’s precisely what that means. Charlie remains active in the alt-world’s Fringe division, so look for him to appear in multiple episodes—beginning with next Thursday’s season premiere.

Question: Can I get some good Grey’s Anatomy news regarding Der and Mer? —Betsy
Among the manifestations of Derek’s post-bloodbath adrenaline junkie phase will be an increased sexual appetite. “[There’s] a lot of sex,” says series creator Shonda Rhimes. “He’s on the high that a person gets when they face death and survive it.” READ FULL STORY

Question: Have you seen the House premiere? If so, thoughts? —Robin
Yes, I’ve seen it—it’s the reason this column arrived a little late. If you’re a Huddy fan, you’re going to swoon yourself silly. The Sept. 20 opener features the star-crossed lovers cuddling, bathing, massaging, champagne-toasting, and—of course—kissing. I think I counted a dozen smooches in the first 15 minutes alone. The episode will also answer the burning question “What does Hugh Laurie look like wearing nothing but a laptop?”

Question: Should we read anything into the fact that Chase is touching Thirteen’s shoulder in House‘s season 7 key art? —Nina
After watching the premiere, I would have to say HELL YES, YOU SHOULD.

Question: How does House’s team—specifically Chase, Taub, and Foreman—react to House and Cuddy being an item? —Brandon
To quote Dr. Crankenstein in episode 2, one is “in favor,” another is “indignant,” and a third is “indifferent.” Now head to the comments and match the adjective with the character! But first, repeat after me: “Games are fun.” READ FULL STORY

Emmy Video: 'FNL' stars Chandler and Britton on 'satisfying' fifth season and a possible sixth!

fnlI rarely let my emotions get the best of me, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little verklempt by the sight of Friday Night Lights‘ long overdue Emmy contenders Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton walking the red carpet yesterday as full-fledged nominees. So they didn’t win. Big deal. The positive buzz surrounding FNL‘s fifth and final season all but ensures they’ll be in the running again next year. But back to this year’s event, watch what went down on the red carpet with Britton and Chandler before the ceremony (hint: lots of silliness, an impromptu purse search, and talk of a possible—make that impossible—sixth season). EW Emmy Party video: Connie Britton previews acceptance speech, teases final 'FNL' scene EVER

emmy-party-2010What was Connie Britton’s reaction upon learning that I pegged her as the dark horse to win the lead actress Emmy? “That’s just silly,” she guffawed at Entertainment Weekly‘s pre-Emmy bash last night in West Hollywood. Silly or not, the radiant Friday Night Lights all-star confessed that she has given some thought to what she would say should her name be called out Sunday night. (I’ve given some thought to what I’d say too, and it goes something like this: Sweet Jesus almighty, God is good!) Britton also handed me some scoop on her final FNL scene and the latest on those Prime Suspect ‘talks.’ READ FULL STORY

ausiello-emmy-predixImage Credit: Mike Yarish/AMC; Carin Baer/Fox; Bob D'Amico/ABC; Mario Perez/ABCWe’re in the homestretch! The 2010 Emmy Awards are this Sunday—my tux is scheduled to arrive from Filene’s Basement Paris tomorrow morning!—and I’ve got two categories left to handicap: Best drama and comedy series. Emmy predix: Who will win best guest actor/actress in comedy/drama

ausiello-predixImage Credit: Michael Yarish/Fox; Dana Edelson/NBC; Randy Tepper/Showtime;The proliferation of stunt casting has turned the typically mundane guest-acting races into major Emmy spectacles. To wit, for the first time in history I’m handicapping all four of the categories! It’s a date I’m anticipating with both excitement and dread: Sources confirm to me exclusively that Friday Night Lights‘ fifth and final season is slated to debut on DirecTV on Oct. 27. Someone hold me.

'Friday Night Lights' Emmy nominees Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton reflect on first impressions, lasting friendship, and saying goodbye

friday-night-lightsImage Credit: Justin Stephens/NBCNine words I hoped I’d never have to say: Eric and Tami Taylor have gone their separate ways. I’m not talking about the ironclad couple at the heart of Friday Night Lights but rather their exceptional portrayers, Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. Although the show’s fifth and final season has yet to air (it premieres on DirecTV this fall), the cast and crew wrapped weeks ago in Austin, at which point Britton moved back to Los Angeles, leaving Chandler behind in Texas with his wife and their two daughters. Here, in their first interview together since production ended, the actors look back on their five-year work marriage, reveal the secret behind that groundbreaking onscreen relationship, and argue over whom they’re rooting for most come Emmy night. Question: As of today, I have officially seen every single episode of Grey’s Anatomy, and now I don’t know what to do with myself! Grey’s scoop, please! —Bea
Even though nearly two months will have passed since the shooting rampage, Derek will still be in pretty bad shape when the season starts. And I’m not talking physically.

Question: What can you tell us about the Grey’s Anatomy premiere? —Claudia
A major character will be sent directly to jail by the end of the episode. Hint: This person has already been name-checked in this week’s AA.

Question: Do you know if NCIS will deal more with what happened to Ziva in Somalia? —Carlee
Funny you should ask. Exec producer Shane Brennan just told me the following: “In November sweeps, we dip again into a story that perhaps everyone thought was played out. It involves Ziva.” READ FULL STORY
