Question: It’s great to see Jesse Spencer getting a powerful storyline on House. Any news on how he’ll cope without Cameron? —Angela
Ausiello:
Not well. In the Nov. 23 episode — the first sans Jennifer Morrison as Cameron — he loses it and punches House in the face! “Chase is very clearly off his game,” says a House insider, “and struggling with the loss of Cameron.” What prompts the fisticuffs? Apparently, Doc Crankypants unfavorably compares him to his far prettier, smarter wife, and Chase blows his top and decks him!

Question: Jesse Spencer has been amazing in the current arc on House, but I’m worried this storyline is setting up his eventual exit from the show a la Jennifer Morrison. Any word from your mole? —Carol
Ausiello:
My mole assures me that you’re just being paranoid. Jesse’s staying put. (For now at least.) READ FULL STORY »

This just in: 'Chuck' wants Connie Britton!

If you’re thinking the above headline is too good to be true, well, you’re right. But this should still send a tingle down your spine: Chuck is looking for an actress to play the guest star role of Kathleen McHugh, an attractive, strong and independent woman. The prototype Josh Schwartz and Co. are asking agents and casting directors to use? You guessed it: Connie Britton.

Love. It.

Question: Is Emilie de Ravin going to be back on Lost for the whole season or just a few episodes? And will we get to see what happened to her? —Jared
Ausiello:
The answer to both of your questions is a resounding yeppers. Better prepare yourself though. My Lost mole says season 6 will showcase “a version of Claire we’ve never seen before — a Rousseau-esque version.” We’ll be in need of a Rousseau fix since the real version will be MIA. According to a Lost insider, the French Lady’s portrayer, Mira Furlan, turned down the show’s request to return for the final season due to a “prior overseas commitment.” Anyone know how you say “big bag-o-nuts” in français?

Question: I’m tired of people bitching about Gossip Girl being in a creative slump. I’m loving this season. Got scoop? —Alex
Ausiello:
I’m (mostly) loving this season, too. The Chuck-Blair stuff continues to be immensely satisfying. And Hilary Duff isn’t nearly as annoying as I thought she’d be. On the scoop front, there’s a big Blair-Serena blow-up coming. The frenemies will definitely be on the outs for a little bit. READ FULL STORY »

'Friday Night Lights' scoop: Aimee Teegarden takes over as coach!

I just realized that headline is a tiny bit intentionally bait-and-switchy misleading. What I meant to say is Aimee Teegarden is taking over as my acting coach. Allow me to explain: Among the things I gained a greater appreciation for during my visit to Friday Night Lights‘ Austin-based set last week was the difficult job the show’s bleacher babes have pretend-reacting to what they’re being told is happening on the field. Over and over and over again. As you’ll see in the below video, Teegarden graciously agreed to teach me some of her signature moves, including “The Touchdown,” “The Injury,” and, “The Tornado.” I think we can all agree I’m a pretty fast learner. (BTW, look for more video from my FNL set visit — including interviews with Kyle Chandler and Jesse Plemons — early next week.)

Question: Is it at all possible that Shonda Rhimes would bring Isaiah Washington back to Grey’s Anatomy for even one episode now that T.R. Knight has left the show? —Ben
Ausiello:
Listen to me very carefully, because I’m only going to say this once: Never. Gonna. Happen. But Washington kinda-sorta gets a shout-out in this week’s episode when Owen-lovin’ Cristina utters three shocking words: “I miss Burke.”

Question: Sounds like you’ve already seen this week’s Grey’s, so I’ve got a Q: Any good Mer-Der scenes? —Megan
Ausiello:
Nothing stands out on the Mer-Der front, but there’s a memorable Mer-Cristina-Alex scene at the end that will have you crying and laughing (and in that order).

Question: Any Grey’s scoop? —Sharon
Ausiello:
You already know that someone gets fired in this week’s episode. But what you may not know is that someone gets fired next week, too!

Question: Julie Benz just Twittered a photo of a guy she says will be part of a big reveal in the Dexter season finale. What can you tell us about this? —Matt
Ausiello:
Here’s what I can tell you: If this guy is who I think he is, fans are not going to be happy.

Question: Jenny is so boring on Gossip Girl. Please tell me she will become mean. —Juliana
Ausiello:
Mean enough to drive her BFF away. I hear Jenny and Eric’s relationship will suffer big time due to her new “Queen Bee” status. READ FULL STORY »

'Dollhouse' and 'FNL' scoop: Look who's returning!

I like to think of myself as a fairly plugged-in individual, but I have to admit I had no clue Friday Night Lights‘ Adrianne Palicki and Dollhouse‘s Alan Tudyk were a couple. At least I had no clue until they strolled into Entertainment Weekly‘s pre-Emmy party last night hand-in-hand. Well, good for them. And good for me since it meant I got two spoilery interviews for the price of one! Speaking of which, if you want to know when Tyra and Alpha are returning to FNL and Dollhouse respectively, there’s some embedded video with your name on it after the jump… READ FULL STORY »

Question: Grey’s Anatomy scoop on Owen and Cristina, please! —Jenilee
Ausiello:
They’re headed for a dry spell. In the season premiere, Amy Madigan’s shrink advises Owen against making any further sexy time with Cristina until he can get the voices in his head to shut the hell up. Relax, they’re not breaking up. Just taking things slooooow.

Question: No Grey’s Anatomy scoop in the last Ask Ausiello? Forget trying to get Mark-Lexie scoop, I’ll take anything on Grey’s at this point! —Maddy
Ausiello:
Too bad, because Mark-Lexie scoop is what you’re getting. “They’ve got a lot of challenges coming down the pike,” concedes exec producer Krista Vernoff. “The most consistent challenge is the one that’s built into the fabric of their relationship: He’s pushing 40, she’s in her early 20s.”

Question: What will happen to Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s when Ellen Pompeo heads off on maternity leave? —Jacob
Ausiello:
He’ll get some much-needed alone time. As exec producer Krista Vernoff explains, READ FULL STORY »

Question: Give us a House spoiler, please! —Zachary
Ausiello:
Cuddy knows that House made imaginary love to her last May. “It’s referenced in an upcoming episode,” House boss David Shore tells me. “She’s aware of it and she confronts him. She wants to know where all that stands.” That makes two of us.

Question: How long will Cameron and Chase hang on to their old jobs on House? —Jeff
Ausiello:
“We don’t have a specific end in mind,” says Shore. “It appears to be temporary, but [there's] no specific end date.”

Exclusive: 'Friday Night Lights' drafts Michael Jordan!

Michael-B-Jordan_lNo, not hoops legend Michael Jordan. Up-and-coming actor Michael B. Jordan!

The alum of All My Children and The Wire is joining Friday Night Lights as Vince, East Dillon’s resident troublemaker. Although charming at times, the junior running back can be dangerous and menacing—a result of his crime-riddled upbringing. He quickly finds himself at odds with the team’s new pretty boy Luke (played by the just-cast Matt Lauria).

Like Lauria, Jordan is a series regular.

Thoughts?

Exclusive: 'Friday Night Lights' recruits 'Lipstick Jungle' hottie

Matt-Lauria_lHas Friday Night Lights found its next Tim Riggins?

Lipstick Jungle‘s Matt Lauria—he played Lindsay Price’s gay assistant on the late NBC soap—is joining the season 4 cast in the series regular role of Luke, a charming yet cocky junior who reluctantly finds himself playing for Coach Taylor’s East Dillon squad.

Luke is one of four new characters being introduced to help fill the void left by Adrianne Palicki, Minka Kelly, and Zach Gilford (who’ll now be returning for seven episodes.)

FNL’s 13-episode fourth season debuts Oct. 28 on DirecTV.

So, has Friday Night Lights found its next Tim Riggins? Sound off below!

THIS JUST IN: Find out who’ll be playing Lauria’s on-screen nemesis!

'Friday Night Lights' exclusive: Matt's stay extended!

Zach-Gilford_lZach Gilford has scored more playing time on Friday Night Lights. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the actor’s season 4 farewell arc as Matt has been expanded from five to seven episodes.

According to my Panthers mole, Gilford’s run will likely fall during the first half of FNL‘s 13-episode fourth season, which premieres on DirecTV Oct. 28 with an episode directed by series creator Peter Berg.

Does this news make you more or less pumped for FNL‘s new season? I pretty much know the answer to that question but I figured I’d ask it anyway. Oh, and this seems like a good time to plug my recent interview with Gilford’s FNL leading lady, Aimee Teegarden (below). There’s some good Matt-Julie stuff in it!

'Friday Night Lights' scoop: Is it over for Matt and Julie?

Not according to Aimee Teegarden, who told me at NBC’s press tour bash last night that not even Zach Gilford’s reduced role on Friday Night Lights this season can keep Matt and Julie apart. “It’s Matt and Julie,” she professed, “it’s forever-after love.” My entire red carpet run-in with Teegarden is below.

To see all my interviews from Wednesday's NBC shindig, including my revealing chats with Mercy's Michelle Trachtenberg, Heroes' Greg Grunberg and Adrian Pasdar, and Southland's Ben Mackenzie, head over to the Ausiello TV hub!
