'How I Met Your Mother,' 'Criminal Minds,' 'Gossip Girl,' 'The Office': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Hello from, L.A.!

The sun is shining, the Television Critics Association press tour is in full swing, there’s a party with Fox network stars tonight, I’m in the pacific time zone — which means this column is only an hour late — and I ate my weight in french fries from a food truck last night on Melrose Ave. I’m feelin’ pretty damn good, Roomies. And I hope you feel the same after reading this week’s scoop!

If not, you should probably e-mail me scoop requests to spoilerroom@EW.com. We’ll try again next week. And yes, this intro is particularly sunny because I’m hoping that will stop people from e-mailing me spam for Zoloft. If this doesn’t do the trick, I don’t know what will.

‘HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’: NOW THAT’S A WEDDING!

True to their word, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas confirmed that this upcoming season’s first episode takes place at Punchy’s wedding in Cleveland a few days after the finale. But what’s the gang going through exactly? Well, in Lily’s case, she’s finds herself struggling to keep her and Marshall’s big announcement a secret. READ FULL STORY

Guess who's returning to 'Gossip Girl'? -- EXCLUSIVE

simon_miller

The season premiere of The CW’s Gossip Girl will return a familiar face to the show: Simon Miller is coming back for one episode.

Miller appeared in two previous episodes as an actor who’s famous for playing vampires. His character was caught in a love triangle between Olivia (Hilary Duff) and Dan (Penn Badgley). Since then he’s appeared on another CW hit, Vampire Diaries.

The CW just picked up two more episodes of Gossip Girl for next season, along with additional hours of three other shows (find out which here). Gossip returns Monday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m., leading into new CW drama Hart of Dixie.

'The Vampire Diaries,' 'White Collar,' 'Supernatural,' 'Raising Hope': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Hey, Roomies. I missed you during my travels! But your letters and questions kept me warm last week in San Diego during Comic-Con. (No, seriously, they made me sleep outside and I used them as a blanket. I’m kidding… probably.)

So, here we are, on the doorstep of fall TV, and we’re knocking hard until we get all the info we crave. Let’s get to it.

Remember to keep those queries coming! Mail them to spoilerroom@ew.com or tweet them to me @EWSandraG. Also, if you have a little time, send me your thoughts on Comic-Con. What you liked (videos?), what you didn’t like (the stupid faces I apparently make when I get really excited), and tell me if your scoop appetite was fed to your satisfaction. We have 360-ish days to work on it, and we’d like to start now. Love you like nerds love Mrs. Fields and overpriced memorabilia! Till next week.

‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’: KLAUS AND ELENA DISH!
There’s so much to look forward to on this season of The Vampire Diaries. Elena’s 18th birthday, bad Stefan, and soapy Damon. But when prompted for his outlook for the season, Joseph Morgan says he’s most excited to meet Klaus’ family. “We get a chance to go back and see the point where they became vampires and where the curse was placed on Klaus to suppress his hybrid nature, his hybrid side,” he told a roundtable. “It’ll be interesting when we introduce other originals who are possibly equally as powerful or have some sort of emotional hold over Klaus … to see what that brings out of him.” READ FULL STORY

Jessica Szohr and Taylor Momsen will not appear as regulars on season 5 of 'Gossip Girl.' Plus, Kaylee DeFer promoted

After lengthy absences throughout this current season, Jessica Szohr and Taylor Momsen will not be returning as series regulars on Gossip Girl next season, sources confirm to EW. (TVLine first reported the news.) Newbie Kaylee DeFer, who spoke with us last month before her debut on the show, is also being bumped to series regular.

Momsen’s Jenny Humphrey has been largely absent since the end of last season when her character was banished from Manhattan after sleeping with Chuck. (But has anyone really missed her?) READ FULL STORY

Season finale alert! When to expect goodbye episodes from 'Survivor,' 'Chuck,' and 'Saturday Night Live'

Where did the time ago? It seems like just yesterday that we were anxiously awaiting the start of Lone Star; now we can barely remember that two-timing cad. That’s because it’s season finale time – that heartbreaking period when we bid adieu to nine months of scripted heaven to make way for three months of unscripted hell on the broadcast networks. (Don’t worry, Big Brother: We still adore thee).

Fire up your DVR playlists, kids … here are all the broadcast net finales. READ FULL STORY

'Gossip Girl': Blair eats a tart, and Prince Louis wants to discuss something... important -- EXCLUSIVE CLIP

Impatience is not a virtue, but it runs rampant on the Upper East Side. I understand this. Thus, enjoy this clip from tonight’s new episode.

In it, Blair’s fawning over Prince Louis, Serena’s showing personal growth by acting mature (you’re not fooling anyone, S!), and Blair’s eating a tart (the dessert, not Dan Humphrey). But ponder with me, gang: Sounds like the Prince has a very important matter to talk to Blair about. Could this be…what we think it is?

Excitement and intrigue abounds.  READ FULL STORY

The CW renews 'Supernatural,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Gossip Girl' and two more!

The CW just announced early renewals of five shows for next season. Ready?

Gossip Girl, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and 90210 are all coming back, along with a first-ever all-star edition of America’s Next Top Model.

All will return next fall. None are huge surprises — Vampire Diaries is the network’s biggest hit, Gossip and 90210 are solid-ish and Friday’s Supernatural has helped keep the network strong on TV’s toughest night. Doing an all-star edition of veteran Top Model also makes sense as a way to potentially boost its numbers after 16 cycles. As for the shows that were not renewed… READ FULL STORY

'Smallville,' 'Supernatural,' 'Burn Notice,' 'The Killing': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

What a lovely day it is for television news, Roomies!

I’ll keep today’s usually-rambly intro short: You want scoop? Ask! All you have to do is email me at spoilerroom@ew.com or find me on Twitter (@EWSandraG), where you will see I’ve already started celebrating Supernatural‘s upcoming Western episode (see below for scoop!). Don’t see yours below? Come back Friday; there’s a good chance it might be there then.

‘SMALLVILLE’: BOOSTER GOLD’S BIG ARRIVAL … AND BIG EGO

Smallville‘s better-than-ever farewell season continues Friday with the appearance of Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle/Jaime Reyes in an episode that will have both fans of the mythology and beloved Clois squealing in delight. As teased in previews, the episode indeed features an iconic phonebooth transformation (but not into the full tights-and-cape). The moment is all you’d hope it to be, but what got this nerd really excited? The steps that were taken toward creating a critical part of mythology: our hero’s name. Also great: Lois’ interactions with Jaime, Clark’s almost child-like reaction to Booster douche (who is actually as frustrating as he his hilarious), and the arrival of clumsy Kent. Take it all in, Smallville fans, because we’re in the homestretch. Luckily, the show’s been making it more than worth the 10-year investment. READ FULL STORY

'Gossip Girl': Billy Baldwin on the return of Serena's father, how Lily reminds him of his mother-in-law

The return of Dr. William van der Woodsen (Billy Baldwin) can mean only a few things: 1) He wants something, 2) He’s back to hit on Lily some more, or 3) He’s there to put out a fire. In tonight’s episode, it’s likely all three.

“He’s returned to help put out some of the family fires regarding Lily and Serena and the entangled webs they’ve woven,” Baldwin teases to EW. “It’s causing some tension because Rufus would like to step up and be a man of the house. [But] when it comes to van der Woodsen dysfunction and crisis, I think the family generally recognizes it’s best placed in William’s hands — at least, that’s William’s take on it.”  READ FULL STORY

'Gossip Girl' scoop: Meet Serena's cousin, Charlie

Giovanni Rufino/The CW

Tonight, Gossip Girl finally returns from its winter hiatus and will finish out the season with five new episodes full of bitchery and bling. Debuting this week is Serena’s cousin, Charlie, played by Kaylee DeFer (The War at Home). Charlie, who’s real name is Charlotte, is the daughter of Lily’s estranged sister Carol, played in season two’s GG flashback episode by Krysten Ritter but now in the present by Sheila Kelley. So where have these two ladies been throughout the past four seasons? “They’ve been in Florida,” says executive producer Stephanie Savage. “As you may recall from the pilot, Lily’s original lie was that Eric was with Aunt Carol in Miami.”

But things have not been so sunny in Florida for Charlie and her mom. “Basically, I’m pretty lonely and my mom has told me the van der Woodsens are these horrible people,” says DeFer, who will appear in the remainder of GG‘s episodes and possibly return next season. “I’ve been told my whole life that my family is awful. I decide I’d like to meet them.” READ FULL STORY
