Question: Thanks for all the True Blood casting news! Do you have any other scoop on season 3? –JKH
Ausiello: It’s happening: Lafayette is getting a boyfriend! A True insider tells me that Alan Ball is quietly searching for a sexy Latino actor in his 30s to play a lust interest for everyone’s favorite same-gender-lovin’ blood dealer. (Over the summer, Ball confirmed that viewers would see a more “vulnerable” Lafayette in season 3.) Got casting tips? Head to the comments! Here’s one to get you started: Um, Adam Rodriguez, hello.
Question: What else can you tell us about the Grey’s Anatomy-Private Practice crossover on Jan. 14? –Sarah

Question: The latest we’ve heard about Tony and Ziva on NCIS is Shane Brennan stating that their relationship will remain status quo. Please tell me they’re not ending Tiva? —Jamie
Ausiello: Strange. That seems to contradict what I’m hearing. According to my hairy NCIS mole, the Jan. 26 episode finds Tony and Ziva hopping a plane to the City of Love. That’s right, Tiva takes on Paris! And would you believe the hotel screws up their reservation and they end up sharing a room together? What are the odds?!
Question: Your Bones scoop last week was crap. The promos already gave away Booth’s nude scene. Got any legitimate scoop? —Barry
Ausiello: When the show returns on Jan. 14, someone must contend with a positive pregnancy test. Legitimate enough for you?! READ FULL STORY »
Eric’s getting a new boyfriend on Gossip Girl! At least that’s the conclusion I’m drawing based on the following just-released casting intel for the role of…
ELLIOT: Attractive, upscale, scruffy 16-year-old. He lives in Eric’s building. Possible recurring.

Question: Stop beating around the bush about Mark and Addison. What exactly goes on between them during the Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover next month? —Carrie
Ausiello: Ever heard of the phrase, “Knocking boots ’til the cows come home”?
Question: Can we get some Mark and Lexie scoop? Seriously, we’ve heard everything about everyone on Grey’s except them. —Sophie
Ausiello: Ever heard of the phrase, “Deep doo-doo”? That’s pretty much where their relationship is headed. Let’s just say Mark may not be the only one doing a little two-timing in the Jan. 14 crossover. READ FULL STORY »

Question: Are you planning to do an Ask Ausiello this week given the whole Thanksgiving thing? —Jennifer
Ausiello: I haven’t decided yet. Can I get back to you?
Question: There’s a clip making the rounds from the Christmas dinner scene on the Dec. 10 episode of Bones where people are talking about a kiss. What do you know about it? Is it a Booth/Brennan kiss? —Penelope
Ausiello: That’s a really good question. It’s so good that I’m not even going to try to answer it myself. “The Christmas episode is special — it’s Christmas after all,” responds exec producer Stephen Nathan. “But a kiss? With all of the squints and family there? That seems a bit too forward for Brennan and Booth, doesn’t it?” Damn you and your trick questions, Nathan! READ FULL STORY »
The first episode of CBS’ much-hyped, three-night CSI crossover scored, according to preliminary overnight ratings. Guest star Laurence Fishburne helped CSI: Miami earn 13.8 million viewers, a boost of 1.3 million from last week’s episode. Elsewhere, it was a pretty standard Monday night with ABC’s Dancing with the Stars dominating with 17.6 million viewers. Over on The CW, the controversial threesome episode of Gossip Girl (2.3 million) gave the series only a slight boost from last week’s 2 million.

Tantalizing promos that tease a possible sexual threesome during the Nov. 9 episode of Gossip Girl may have ticked off the Parents Television Councilbut it seems unlikely the CW will give the advocacy group anything to complain about to the FCC. Though the CW wouldn’t comment on next week’s episode, those familiar with the network’s standards and practices procedures say the infamous Without a Trace teen orgy scene on CBS had a big impact on how the CW depicts sexual intercourse between teen characters, especially on Gossip Girl.
In 2006, the FCC fined 111 CBS affiliates a record $3.6 million for airing what it viewed was an indecent depiction of teenage sex in December 2004. The scene, which CBS said appeared in the final half-hour of primetime and offered a socially relevant storyline for parents, involved teenage boys and girls engaged in a bacchanal. Since then, the CW has attempted to refrain from showing any sexual act between two characters if they are not over the age 18. In simpler terms: there’s always lots of talk but zero visuals. So even if most of the lead characters on Gossip Girl are out of high school, it’s likely the show will play it safe. “They’ll infer stuff but not get real explicit,” according to an industry observer with key knowledge of the CW’s standards. “I’d be surprised if there’s anything real explicit in the Gossip Girl episode.”
As for advertisers, there’s always the chance that action taken by the Parents Television Council could prevent some companies from airing commercials during shows like Gossip Girl. But the broadcast networks — unlike most, if not all, of the cable nets — allow their clients to screen any episode that may be deemed inappropriate before they buy the commercial time. That’s what happened when Microsoft decided to pull its sponsorship of “Family Guy Presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show” that will air Nov. 8 on Fox; representatives of the company actually attended the show’s taping and saw what was in store. Even then, Microsoft’s decision seemed odd when Family Guy has a long and well-documented history of pushing the envelope (the show, no surprise, has been targeted by the Parents Television Council, as well). The special has since lureda new sponsor: Warner Bros’ upcoming movie Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr.
Fox’s airing of Game 5 of the World Series proved no match for ABC’s Dancing with the Stars last night, according to preliminary overnight ratings. The Yankees/Phillies match-up yielded 15.5 million viewers compared to Stars‘ 16.2 million during the 8-10pm slot. Elsewhere, CBS’ comedy block performed solidly, particularly Two and a Half Men (13.6 million) and The Big Bang Theory (12.7 million).

Question: G’day! How about you share some Glee scoop? —Vivian
Ausiello: Okay, mate. There’s a crazy-ass rumor going around that Will will discover Terri’s faux baby plot, dump her, and then, in a moment of passion, get her pregnant for real! The really crazy-ass part? Sources confirm that two of those three things are true! And the other one? Not so much.
Question: I loved the Rachel-Puck hook-up in last week’s Glee! Is this something that the show may continue in the future? —Tiana
Ausiello: Not in the immediate future. In the immediate future, Puck is mostly into Quinn. Which is sweet considering he knocked her up and all.
Question: I have a really fun assignment for you, Aus. Create a chart listing every Lost alum there ever was, and then next to their names, tell us where things stand in terms of them returning for the final season. I just know how much you love to make lists. —Steven
Ausiello: I have a better idea: Let’s scrap the chart and forget we ever had this conversation. In return, I’ll share this Lost nugget with you: I hear Team Darlton will give us the answer to one of Lost‘s oldest and most confounding mysteries. And I’m pretty sure it’s an answer none of us expected to get. READ FULL STORY »
ABC was the big winner last night with Dancing with the Stars and Castle both seeing boosts from last week’s airings, according to preliminary overnight ratings. Stars nabbed 17.8 million viewers (up from 1.3 million from last week) while Castle hit 11.1 million (up 1.2 million from last week). A possible reason for the uptick in ratings? CBS’ powerful Monday night line-up was all in repeats.

Question: Is Emilie de Ravin going to be back on Lost for the whole season or just a few episodes? And will we get to see what happened to her? —Jared
Ausiello: The answer to both of your questions is a resounding yeppers. Better prepare yourself though. My Lost mole says season 6 will showcase “a version of Claire we’ve never seen before — a Rousseau-esque version.” We’ll be in need of a Rousseau fix since the real version will be MIA. According to a Lost insider, the French Lady’s portrayer, Mira Furlan, turned down the show’s request to return for the final season due to a “prior overseas commitment.” Anyone know how you say “big bag-o-nuts” in français?
Question: I’m tired of people bitching about Gossip Girl being in a creative slump. I’m loving this season. Got scoop? —Alex
Ausiello: I’m (mostly) loving this season, too. The Chuck-Blair stuff continues to be immensely satisfying. And Hilary Duff isn’t nearly as annoying as I thought she’d be. On the scoop front, there’s a big Blair-Serena blow-up coming. The frenemies will definitely be on the outs for a little bit. READ FULL STORY »
