'Grey's Anatomy' boss: Callie and Arizona have a '50/50 chance' of staying together

It may be the year of Meredith, but she isn’t the only Grey Sloan doc with a tough season ahead of them on Grey’s Anatomy.

For several seasons now, Callie and Arizona’s relationship has been on a rough roller coaster—and we’re not just talking about the latter’s infidelity. The couple separated in season 7 when Arizona left for Africa, during which time Callie got knocked up by Sloan. Then, of course, there was Callie’s car accident, and Arizona losing her leg as a result of the plane crash, culminating in the formerly bubbly peds doc cheating on her wife. They did eventually get back together, move into a new home and decide to have a child via surrogacy, but those are just another series of Band-Aids that the duo have been placing on their damaged relationship. Can they really survive? Or will this new journey finally be the breaking point?

Grey’s Anatomy fans might not believe it, but Sandra Oh’s last season on set wasn’t overflowing with “remember when” stories and goodbyes. Before season 10’s DVD release Sept. 2, we’ve got an exclusive first look at its gag reel—in which Oh may or may not fire someone. (Spoiler: She’s kidding.) READ FULL STORY

Can you tease how Amelia will fit in on Grey’s Anatomy next season? — Carla
How she’ll fit into Grey Sloan will all depend on whether or not Derek takes the D.C. job, which causes some “frustrating complications,” executive producer Shonda Rhimes tells me. But Amelia will make a surprising connection at the hospital, just not with who you’d think. “There’s a moment early on when she finds herself the keeper of some secrets that Richard didn’t necessarily want her to know by being at an AA meeting that he didn’t know she was at,” Rhimes says. “It draws her into the world in a deeper way than she anticipated.” Hmm, I wonder what that secret could be.

See how ABC is promoting Shonda Rhimes' Thursday takeover

As if the one-two punch of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal on one night wasn’t enough, this fall Shondaland will air three shows on Thursdays—otherwise known as “TGIT.”

In a new promo for the all-Shonda Rhimes night of television, ABC uses the casts of Grey’s, Scandal, and new drama How to Get Away with Murder to tout the block’s new slogan: Thank God It’s Thursday. It’s a nice nod to the network’s old Friday night TGIF block and even NBC’s former Thursday night domination with Must-See TV.

Meredith can't move to Washington, D.C. on 'Grey's Anatomy' because...

Now that most of the Fab Five have left Grey Sloan Memorial, it seems the time could be ripe for Meredith to finally move on from the hospital she’s called home for the last 10 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy—despite telling Derek she didn’t want to move to Washington, D.C. in the season finale. However, Ellen Pompeo thinks there’s a very plausible reason why Meredith cannot follow her husband to Capitol Hill.

'Grey's Anatomy': Are Meredith and Derek headed for divorce?

Could Mer and Der be on the road to a huge breakup?

When we left the couple in the last Grey’s Anatomy finale, Meredith finally stood up for herself, telling Derek that she doesn’t want to move to Washington, D.C.—where he had been offered a full-time position by POTUS. (Not Scandal’s Fitz, but we can still dream!)

And in season 11—being dubbed “The Year of Meredith”—the stalwart doc will no longer take a backseat to her husband’s career, which may cause strife in their relationship. However, executive producer Shonda Rhimes promises that this doesn’t mean the end of everyone’s favorite McCouple.

Geena Davis cast in major 'Grey's Anatomy' role

Geena Davis is checking into Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

The Academy Award winner has signed on for a “major guest arc” in season 11 of Grey’s Anatomy, ABC confirms. She will play a surgeon at the hospital.

Season 11 premieres Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Kate Burton returning to 'Grey's Anatomy' as Ellis Grey

Grey’s Anatomy fans had a love-hate (but mostly hate) relationship with Meredith’s mother, Ellis Grey. On the one hand, we had her to thank for the fact that Meredith was dark and twisty in the first place, not to mention the great drama that came along with her Alzheimer’s, generally crappy parenting, and, of course, her love affair with Richard. But in season three, both fans and Meredith let go of Ellis for good when she died, met up with Meredith in the afterlife, and finally approved of her daughter. So you can imagine our surprise when we found out that we’ll be seeing Ellis again fairly soon.

EW has confirmed that Kate Burton will reprise her role as Ellis Grey in the upcoming season 11 premiere of Grey’s. According to TV Guide, Ellis will appear in flashbacks. And based on the fact that the season 10 finale introduced a new head of cardio who also just happened to be Richard and Ellis’ long-lost love child, it’s possible the flashbacks will have something to do with new doc Margaret Pierce (played by Kelly McCreary).

Grey’s Anatomy returns Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
