'Heroes' spoiler alert: The rumors are true

I wasn’t planning to reveal this until after his swan song aired, but outside forces have, um, forced my hand. The rumors are true: Adrian Pasdar is leaving Heroes. And yes, he was the subject of my Oct. 13 blind item.

Okay, show of hands, who guessed correctly?!

Ratings: ABC's 'DWTS' and 'Castle' deliver big to win the night

ABC was the big winner last night with Dancing with the Stars and Castle both seeing boosts from last week’s airings, according to preliminary overnight ratings. Stars nabbed 17.8 million viewers (up from 1.3 million from last week) while Castle hit 11.1 million (up 1.2 million from last week). A possible reason for the uptick in ratings? CBS’ powerful Monday night line-up was all in repeats.

Ratings: 'Dancing With the Stars' waltzes away with another win, 'Gossip Girl' dips

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars once again won the night in total viewers, according to preliminary overnight ratings (Note: Fox’s line-up was affected by a baseball game overrun and true program ratings won’t be available until later today). Dancing averaged 16.5 million viewers for the night. Meanwhile, CBS’ comedy The Big Bang Theory is emerging as a major ratings player in its new, cushy, post-Two and a Half Men time slot. Theory saw 13.1 million viewers last night, a slight dip of 700,000 from its hit lead-in. In less happy news, The CW’s Gossip Girl saw its ratings dip below 2 million viewers last night.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'NCIS,' 'House,' 'Grey's,' 'CSI,' 'Greek,' 'FNL,' and more!

Question: Is it at all possible that Shonda Rhimes would bring Isaiah Washington back to Grey’s Anatomy for even one episode now that T.R. Knight has left the show? —Ben
Ausiello:
Listen to me very carefully, because I’m only going to say this once: Never. Gonna. Happen. But Washington kinda-sorta gets a shout-out in this week’s episode when Owen-lovin’ Cristina utters three shocking words: “I miss Burke.”

Question: Sounds like you’ve already seen this week’s Grey’s, so I’ve got a Q: Any good Mer-Der scenes? —Megan
Ausiello:
Nothing stands out on the Mer-Der front, but there’s a memorable Mer-Cristina-Alex scene at the end that will have you crying and laughing (and in that order).

Question: Any Grey’s scoop? —Sharon
Ausiello:
You already know that someone gets fired in this week’s episode. But what you may not know is that someone gets fired next week, too!

Question: Julie Benz just Twittered a photo of a guy she says will be part of a big reveal in the Dexter season finale. What can you tell us about this? —Matt
Ausiello:
Here’s what I can tell you: If this guy is who I think he is, fans are not going to be happy.

Question: Jenny is so boring on Gossip Girl. Please tell me she will become mean. —Juliana
Ausiello:
Mean enough to drive her BFF away. I hear Jenny and Eric’s relationship will suffer big time due to her new “Queen Bee” status. READ FULL STORY

Question: There’s speculation that Izzie cheats on Alex on Grey’s Anatomy. Is it true? —Molly
Ausiello:
No, but the newlyweds will be dealt a major blow at the end of next week’s episode (the best of the season, IMHO). In fact, the crisis is so big that Izzie disappears for roughly five non-consecutive episodes. BTW, even though I knew Katherine Heigl’s mini-hiatus was coming, Izzie’s exit was no less powerful or emotional. And man, Heigl knocks it out of the park. She can be a real handful (see: Emmygate, 17-hour workdaygate, etc) but girlfriend delivers when it’s called for.

Question: When will Ellen Pompeo’s maternity leave from Grey’s Anatomy kick in on screen? —Zaiver
Ausiello:
Unlike Izzie, Meredith isn’t going anywhere — although we’ll begin to see less of her (literally and figuratively) after this week’s episode. And her diminished screen time will make perfect sense given what happens tonight. READ FULL STORY

'Heroes' sneak peek: Claire unleashes new lesbianac superpower!

In a shameless bid to lure eyeballs to next Monday’s Heroes, NBC has just released a promo pic of Hayden Panettiere “experimenting” with co-star Madeline Zima. In an equally shameless bid to increase traffic to my blog, I’ve attaching said pic after the jump.

Ratings: 'Lie to Me' and 'Trauma' both premiere to weak numbers

One returning and one new series premiered last night with decidedly disappointing results. Fox’s Lie to Me kicked off its second season with 7.7 million viewers, a sharp drop from the 14.5 million who watched lead-in House. Elsewhere, NBC debuted its new drama Trauma, but the first episode only drew a weak 6.9 million viewers. The one silver lining is that it managed to improve upon its lead-in, Heroes, by over a million viewers.

Question: Any more True Blood season 3 casting news? —Richard
Ausiello:
Yes! Alan Ball confirms that he’s currently casting the role of Talbot, “trophy husband” to Denis O’Hare’s same-gender-lovin’ King of Mississippi.

Question: I know I’ve been bombarding you with Heather Locklear questions lately, and I promise to stop after this one: How long will she be staying on Melrose Place? —Sam
Ausiello:
There’s no such thing as too many Heather Locklear questions when it concerns her imminent return to the Place called M. I hear she’s on board for at least seven episodes.

Question: I just finished watching the first three seasons of Dexter and I can’t wait until the season 4 premiere. If you have a scoop, that would be awesome. And if you have more than one scoop — or a scoop-fest, if you will — that would be even more awesome. —Jared
Ausiello:
To quote my onetime Ausiello TV co-star Ana Ortiz, “Oh, I will, honey. You bet your ass I will.” John Lithgow’s Trinity Killer will claim a high-profile victim (a.k.a. significant character) during the first half of the season. READ FULL STORY

Question: Grey’s Anatomy scoop on Owen and Cristina, please! —Jenilee
Ausiello:
They’re headed for a dry spell. In the season premiere, Amy Madigan’s shrink advises Owen against making any further sexy time with Cristina until he can get the voices in his head to shut the hell up. Relax, they’re not breaking up. Just taking things slooooow.

Question: No Grey’s Anatomy scoop in the last Ask Ausiello? Forget trying to get Mark-Lexie scoop, I’ll take anything on Grey’s at this point! —Maddy
Ausiello:
Too bad, because Mark-Lexie scoop is what you’re getting. “They’ve got a lot of challenges coming down the pike,” concedes exec producer Krista Vernoff. “The most consistent challenge is the one that’s built into the fabric of their relationship: He’s pushing 40, she’s in her early 20s.”

Question: What will happen to Patrick Dempsey on Grey’s when Ellen Pompeo heads off on maternity leave? —Jacob

Exclusive: Jayma Mays Trading 'Glee' For 'Heroes'

Heroes-Jayma-Masi_lOh, relax. It’s only for one episode, and it won’t affect Glee at all. In fact, had the actress’ whimsical Fox series not already wrapped production on its initial 13-episode order, she wouldn’t have been available to do it. But it had, so she was.

Anyway, back on Heroes, Mays will reprise her role of Charlie, Hiro’s ill-fated love interest. As the dying time-traveler zips back and forth through the ages to accomplish his bucket list… well, isn’t it safe to assume that saving his almost-sweetheart would be pretty high on the list? That’s what I thought.

What do you think? Does the thought of Mays back on Heroes make you Glee-ful? Sound off below. (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick)
