'How I Met Your Mother' scoop: Barney, Robin, Ted storyline will 'take a few episodes to explode,' says boss

Don’t call it a love triangle just yet.

The final moments of Monday’s How I Met Your Mother could have been interpreted many ways. As Victoria boarded a bus out of Ted’s life, she left him with parting words, “There is a reason it didn’t work out between you and me. It’s Robin. She’s so much bigger in your world than you realize.”

Your post-episode confusion is exactly what creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas intended.  READ FULL STORY

'HIMYM' producers to create sitcom for Fox

After a fierce bidding war, Fox nabbed the next comedy from the How I Met Your Mother producers — a single camera laugher about three siblings who reconnect after their dad dies.

Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, along with Chris Harris, will exec produce a put pilot called The Goodwin Games for fall 2012 consideration. A put pilot comes with severe financial penalties if Fox doesn’t air it, which all but assures its pickup for next season.

And yes, Fox still has many shows yet to debut this season (tonight’s Terra Nova, for one!) but it, like the other broadcast nets, are already focused on next fall’s lineup.

'Grey's Anatomy,' 'How I Met Your Mother,' 'House': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Welcome to Spoiler Room: Jen’s Edition. Kidding. But also not really. After wrapping up today’s column, I realized I chose four questions from people named Jen. I promise you, this is not an act of favoritism. But now I’m really curious how many of you are out there.

Regardless, if you ask, I’ll answer. So get askin’! Send your questions, ponderings, new show scoop requests, and post-premiere reactions to spoilerroom@ew.com. And if many of your names happen to be Jen, fantastic. (Your move, Sarahs.)

‘GREY’S ANATOMY’: FINALLY SOME MER/DER FOR YOU

I can’t tell you how often I get harassed lovingly asked for Meredith and Derek scoop, and after sitting through next week’s two-hour premiere with my mouth hanging open for 80 minutes (two hours, minus commercials), here’s what you’re going to get out of me on Mer/Der, Crowen, and Alex (who is sans nickname because he’s all alone. Poor Alex). READ FULL STORY

'How I Met Your Mother': Will the season premiere feature a big hook-up? -- VIDEO

The headline above is not meant to be misleading. It’s genuinely the question that’s raised in the just-released promo for the new season (embedded below).

And I’m inclined to think it will feature a buzzy little hook-up for two reasons: 1) It’s a one-hour premiere. And how better to cap off an gift like that than a little buzz-worthy hanky-panky? (Forgive my language. I’m apparently eight years old…but I’m not changing it.) 2) It SAYS so in the promo. Ominous Voice Man says “WHO will hook up?” not “WILL there be a hook up?” I could also be reading into this too much.

Regardless, take a peek below and tell me what you think. Would a Robin-Barney hook up send the season into a crazy tailspin? Is that something you’d like to see? And do you love Lily just a little more after her Lion King impersonation?  READ FULL STORY

'Fringe,' 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Castle,' 'Community': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Did you know the first 100 words of this column are the last 100 words I write every week? I say this for two reasons: 1) If you’ve ever noticed the coherency of this column increases as you work your way through it, you now know why. 2) You now also have an incentive to click to the second page of this column. (Yes! I’m paginated now! << I don’t know if that statement is the “Spoiler Room” speaking or yours truly. I’m going to say it’s the “room” since I, in fact, am not paginated.)

At any rate, take note of the little number “2″ because it’s your path 2 more scoop. (See what I did there.) Hey, I warned you just one paragraph ago…

Remember to send scoop requests to spoilerroom@ew.com (note to the two smooshed “r”s) and follow me on Twitter for more things that don’t make a lot of sense and a few things that do (like TV scoop!). @EWSandraG READ FULL STORY

'How I Met Your Mother': Barney and Robin get close in first photos of new season

As I’ve already told you, Barney and Robin share a lovely dance in this episode at Punchy’s wedding in Cleveland, and by the looks it, it’s going to be a lovely affair. More importantly, look at the way those two are looking at each other! Ehem. I’m fine. Totally composed. Promise.

'Vampire Diaries,' 'Bones,' 'How I Met Your Mother,' 'NCIS,': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

It’s beginning to look a lot like fall TV time! And I’m so excited, I could scream! But that would be really awkward for the person in the office next to me, I imagine.

Instead, I’ll sit here and wait for your questions to pop up in the Spoiler Room inbox (spoilerroom@ew.com).

Clearly my brain is fried. So I’ll leave you to read. Remember to send in your inquiries and follow me on Twitter for more awkward thoughts (and maybe some scoop): @EWSandraG.

‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’: EP TEASES MATT’S PAINFUL ROAD AHEAD

We wouldn’t wish suffering on anyone… except for maybe The Vampire Diaries’ Matt Donovan. But that’s only because actor Zach Roerig guts us when he gets teary. TVD exec producer Julie Plec almost got our eyes wet describing how Matt will figure into the season 3 story line that has Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) seeing the ghosts of his dead exes — including Matt’s late sister Vicki (Kayla Ewell). READ FULL STORY

'How I Met Your Mother' scoop: Robin and Barney will [SPOILER!] in the season premiere

The soul-crushing cab scene in the season finale of How I Met Your Mother, where Robin (Cobie Smulders) came to the realization that she still has feelings for Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), certainly set up the pair for a little drama this season. And it all kicks off in the season premiere… READ FULL STORY

'The Vampire Diaries,' 'White Collar,' 'Supernatural,' 'Raising Hope': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Hey, Roomies. I missed you during my travels! But your letters and questions kept me warm last week in San Diego during Comic-Con. (No, seriously, they made me sleep outside and I used them as a blanket. I’m kidding… probably.)

So, here we are, on the doorstep of fall TV, and we’re knocking hard until we get all the info we crave. Let’s get to it.

Remember to keep those queries coming! Mail them to spoilerroom@ew.com or tweet them to me @EWSandraG. Also, if you have a little time, send me your thoughts on Comic-Con. What you liked (videos?), what you didn’t like (the stupid faces I apparently make when I get really excited), and tell me if your scoop appetite was fed to your satisfaction. We have 360-ish days to work on it, and we’d like to start now. Love you like nerds love Mrs. Fields and overpriced memorabilia! Till next week.

‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’: KLAUS AND ELENA DISH!
There’s so much to look forward to on this season of The Vampire Diaries. Elena’s 18th birthday, bad Stefan, and soapy Damon. But when prompted for his outlook for the season, Joseph Morgan says he’s most excited to meet Klaus’ family. “We get a chance to go back and see the point where they became vampires and where the curse was placed on Klaus to suppress his hybrid nature, his hybrid side,” he told a roundtable. “It’ll be interesting when we introduce other originals who are possibly equally as powerful or have some sort of emotional hold over Klaus … to see what that brings out of him.” READ FULL STORY

'How I Met Your Mother': Why are ads for new movies in old reruns? -- PHOTO

If you’ve watched syndicated reruns of sitcom How I Met Your Mother lately, you might have been startled to see advertisements for very current movies such as Bad Teacher and Zookeeper in episodes that originally aired as early as 2006, long before those flicks were made. The photos here, for instance, are from the second-season episode titled “Swarley,” which originally aired Nov. 6, 2006 — more than four years before Bad Teacher hit theaters. So… what exactly is going with this phenomenon? EW investigated, and here’s the scoop.

'HIMYM': Carter Bays talks new cast member Martin Short and what else is in store for season 7 (more Nora!)

The good news for Marshall Eriksen just keeps rolling in. Jason Segel’s character — who had a tumultuous year last season with the shocking passing of his father, not to mention work and fertility woes — will be gainfully employed in the seventh season… and by none other than Martin Short.

How I Met Your Mother creator and writer Carter Bays confirmed to EW that Short will be joining the cast as Marshall’s new boss. “We had a meeting with him a couple months ago and he was up for doing something fun,” says Bays of the star, who was last seen on Damages. READ FULL STORY

'Mad Men,' 'Modern Family,' John Noble, and Christina Hendricks among Critics' Choice Award winners

The Critics’ Choice Television Awards — created by the recently established Broadcast Television Critics Association — were designed in part to be a counterpoint to the annual Emmy Awards (and the more established TCA Awards). The winners of the first annual CCTAs, however, echoed several Emmy winners of the recent past: AMC’s Mad Men took home Best Drama; ABC’s Modern Family won Best Comedy; Best Actress in a Comedy went to 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey; and The Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons earned Best Actor in a Comedy.

The majority of winners, however, have not snagged an Emmy award — or, in some cases, even a nomination — but remain long-standing fan favorites.  READ FULL STORY
