'How I Met Your Mother' awesomeness: 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' pair to reunite on screen!

That sound you hear is my inner nerd crying out in glee.

EW has confirmed news –  first posted on HIMYM’s Twitter account — that Seth Green, who played Alyson Hannigan’s on-screen romance Oz on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will guest in an upcoming episode.

Green will play Daryl LaCoutre, a man who considered Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Hannigan) among his best friends in college. The problem? They barely remember him! That makes things interesting when they cross paths with him 12 years after they last saw him and find that he’s still living in their college town and, according to casting scoop, is “creepily obsessed with having them in his life.”

The news comes just weeks before another highly anticipated guest star, Joe Manganiello, is set to begin his two-episode arc on Nov. 12. Just yesterday, EW had the first look at his appearance, which you can see here.

Green’s episode is tentatively scheduled to air Dec. 10, but until then, let’s just stare at the photo above.

'How I Met Your Mother': Joe Manganiello returns (and he doesn't look how you'd expect) -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO

Brad…my, how you’ve changed!

In the Nov. 12 episode of How I Met Your Mother, Joe Manganiello returns as Marshall’s old law school buddy, but as you’ll see from this exclusive first look, he’s looking a little unkempt.

Though definitely not the norm for the True Blood star, it got nothing but praise from Jason Segel, who applauded the actor’s willingness to play the HIMYM way. “Just knowing that Joe has that crazy body underneath that fake gut that we put on him — it’s just hilarious to me. He has no sense of vanity despite having every right to have one,” he told EW.

'HIMYM' star Josh Radnor: Don't stunt cast the mother!

How I Met Your Mother is getting closer to the moment when Ted will meet his wife-to-be and fans will finally see the face of the woman who’s been skirting the camera for several seasons. While series creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays know the details of the fateful meeting, the show’s stars are very much in the dark about what’s “a little further down the road.”

But that doesn’t mean the actors don’t have their opinions about casting.

“I don’t think it should be any sort of stunt casting,” Josh Radnor told EW while we were on set last week. “I think it would be more interesting to have this fresh, exciting face that Ted has never seen before and neither have people who watch the show.”

'Arrow,' 'American Horror Story,' 'Person of Interest,' 'The Walking Dead': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

There are two positives about Mondays: 1) I know an entire week of good TV programming awaits me. And 2) I know it’s the day I answer your questions! Yes, it’s actually fun.

So keep ‘em coming: spoilerroom@ew.com and follow me on Twitter for interview alerts, news, and Halloween candy rants. (@EWSandraG)

‘ARROW’ DISH!
The Arrow cast was out in full force during New York Comic-Con this weekend. (Also, this sizzle reel? AWESOME!) And I was lucky enough to snag a few minutes backstage with Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy so they could answer a few questions for fans who made the premiere a record-breaker.

Will we see some Laurel/Oliver flashbacks any time soon? — Joy
“You’ll definitely get to see more of the history between Laurel and Oliver, and where they come from,” assures Cassidy, who adds that she loves playing a character with “a huge heart.” Which is also something that likely endears her to Oliver. “Laurel lost her sister because her boyfriend had an affair and invited her [on the boat]. It’s basically his fault. And I think if any man did this to me and my sisters, I would never forgive that person,” she says. “I feel like she has a lot of soul, and she’s clearly very strong because she tries to see the best in everyone. I think that says a lot about her.”

Sandra, can we please get Revenge/Arrow crossover? I think Emily and Oliver would make amazing partners! — Leslie
…And have amazingly beautiful justice-seeking babies! Ehem. No spoiler here because this is a crazy bananas idea. But, for the record, Amell is on board: “Let’s cross pollinate. Let’s do it. I don’t understand why we wouldn’t. Maybe ABC and CW would have issues, but that’s not for me to discuss. But in a perfect world, we would just do it.”

Sandra, please tell me we’re going to see that ladder thing on Arrow again. Please. Please. – Kristine
As I reported in this post-premiere scoop, no salmon ladder again any time soon. (Sniff.) But if it’s action you like, I hear there’s some very impressive machete stunts in this week’s episode (not to mention, a Kardashian joke). And in the seventh episode, there’s a fight scene that Amell is “very proud of” against a character that “D.C. comics fans will recognize.” “It’s another fight in my plain clothes and when I’m in my plain clothes, it has to be only me because I don’t have a hood on; you can’t hide my face,” he said. “It got a really nice reception from the crew after we shot it.”

'How I Met Your Mother,' 'Fringe,' 'Supernatural,' 'Gossip Girl': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

It’s October!! Holy muffins. How did that happen?

It’s been a busy couple of weeks on my end. First, there was the Emmys, immediately followed by a series of set visits in Vancouver that sucked the life out of me in the best way possible. Now I’m back in New York, fall is in full swing, new shows are beginning to stick (and others, not so much), and hopefully we’re all enjoying having DVRs full of goodness. I know I am.

So let’s get to it. Remember to be sending me your scoop requests (spoilerroom@ew.com) and follow me on Twitter for witty commentary and TV news. Also, if you’re emailing, take a second to tell me your favorite new show of the fall. This is an informal poll, but I’m really curious what scoop you might be craving in the near future. Time for some dish. Nom. Nom. Nom.

‘FRINGE’: FOUR TEASES FROM THE SET
There’s no place as wonderfully warm and weird as the set of Fringe. A few journos and I had the pleasure of visiting the gang in Vancouver last week, and when I wasn’t handing out EWwy awards, I was gathering some fun little intel for fans of the mind-bending cult fave. (If you haven’t read the post-mortem from Friday, head here.) READ FULL STORY

'How I Met Your Mother': Showrunners talk about the (possible) beginning of the end

It’s the beginning of the end, How I Met Your Mother fans – or it might be. Anyone who has watched the season 8 premiere may have seen the last season opener of Ted Mosby’s televised journey toward finding the mother of his children.

The CBS show’s writers approached tonight’s episode, “Farhampton,” like it was the beginning of the show’s final season.

“We sort of come in every day and go, ‘This is the last season of How I Met Your Mother’ until we hear different… We really feel like this launches the last season,” co-creator Craig Thomas told reporters last week. Still no definitive word on whether a ninth season is on the horizon.

So right now, the writers are going full speed ahead to the reveal of the mother, with a Plan B in place in the instance the show is renewed. Thomas and fellow showrunner Carter Bays revealed more about their plans for season 8 and about was going on in tonight’s episode. Fair warning: SPOILERS AHEAD about tonight’s episode and the fate of Ted Mosby and the mother. READ FULL STORY

Joe Lo Truglio to guest star in 'How I Met Your Mother'

With the season 8 premiere of How I Met Your Mother just one week away, some more casting news for the CBS show is trickling in. Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad, Pineapple Express) has signed on for two episodes of the show, executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas told reporters this morning. The actor will play another partner in Marshall’s law firm.

Lo Truglio was already one degree of separation away from How I Met Your Mother — he guest starred on short-lived TV show Mad Love, with Sarah Chalke, who of course played Ted’s former flame Stella. But now he’s officially in the HIMYM circle, set to appear in episodes 7 and 8 this season.

Season 8 will also feature the return of previous guest stars, including Joe Manganiello and Michael Trucco as Robin’s crush (who finally gets a first name in next week’s premiere!). Since we know Robin is bound for a wedding with Barney, Thomas did assure us that “[Trucco's character's] relationship with Robin will delightfully implode during ‘break-up month.’” READ FULL STORY

'Glee,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' '90210,' 'Bones,' 'NCIS': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

We’re only one week into season/series premieres and I want to share some embarrassing figures:

4: Number of times I cried during Parenthood‘s premiere.
3: Number of dinners eaten straight out of a container/box because I was too lazy/tired to cook.
1: Times I teared up during Glee (Lea Michele’s phone call KILLED me.)
4: Times I shouted at the TV during Sons of Anarchy‘s premiere.
~22: Number of times I laughed out loud during the New Normal. (I’m guessing it was once per minute)

My point? The fall TV season is already starting off AMAZING, and it’s only going to go up from here. Can’t wait? Not to worry; I have some nice scoop to hold you over until then. Enjoy!

(And don’t forget to keep in touch! E -mail questions to spoilerroom@ew.com or on Twitter @EWSandraG. Also, if you’re so inclined, share some numbers of your own below. Purely for my entertainment, of course.)

‘GLEE’: FIVE MINI-SCOOPS

From what I can tell, Glee fans seem a little split on the new season. (Also, the Grand Canyon is a kinda big and cookies are sorta delicious.) So, in an effort to please as many people as possible, I’ve included a little scoop for everyone below. For more, check out this Glee post from earlier this week. Enjoy (and play nice, please)!

+ WHERE’S MS. PILLSBURY!? Around. And we’ll see her quite soon, Matthew Morrison promises. In fact, he says, we’ll be seeing a lot more of Will and Emma’s home life than you might think based on the first episode. “We have never seen them actually living together, and now they’re living together this season, cohabitating under one roof,” he says. “It should be interesting. It’s not as easy as I think he thought it was going to be!”

+ SKIN ALERT: Chord Overstreet claims he has a shirtless scene in episode 3. You’re welcome.

+ MORE BIEBER ON THE WAY? It’s no secret that I fell deeply in love with Overstreet’s version of “Baby.” And he says there’s a good chance there’s more Bieber in the works! “I’m a big fan of ‘As Long As You Love Me’ right now. [I] may be doing a couple of mash-ups of some different stuff — and maybe some acoustic stuff,” he says.

+ WHEN THE TWO PUCKERMANS MEET…expect fireworks. “It’s definitely kind of shocking for them both initially,” says Jacob Artist, who says we’ll soon see Puck come face-to-face with his half-brother. “Puck has never met [my character], and I’ve never met Puck. Obviously, the confrontation — there’s a lot of tension going on…it’s definitely a touchy moment for the both of them. [The outcome] definitely affects them.”

+ LOVE TRIANGLE NO. 100000000 Glee loves love triangles. I love a good one, too. And it sounds like Puck Jr. could be involved in one of the many we’ll see this season. “Jake is definitely going to have some romantic drama going on. He’s interested in the new ladies,” Artist says. “I think [he's looking] for somebody that can balance him out. He can be a little crass — so I think [he wants] somebody that can balance him [out].” Any guesses, gang?

’90210′: 100th EPISODE SCOOP!
90210 will hit a big milestone this year — 100 episodes! That’s no small feat in TV land, and what better way to mark the occasion than with Homecoming Weekend! Showrunners Patti Carr and Lara Olsen recently gushed to me about this super-packed episode when we hopped on the phone ahead of the show’s upcoming premiere on Oct. 8.

“We get to go back and re-live a few memories.” Carr said. “And we also have things getting bigger and more out of hand. We got to the Playboy mansion, we have musical performers, and some very revealing moments for our cast.” Also expect some “fan favorites” to pop up.

But, adds Carr: “It’s not just the clip show where they all remember and come out of it unaffected. They’re all profoundly affected by what happens.”

Another treat? Denise Richards, who, as EW previously reported, will appear as an alum-turned-socialite. “There’s so much happening in the 100th episode, I don’t know how we’re going to fit it all in one episode,” says Olsen. Carr jokes: “Maybe it will be a two-part 100th episode — 99.5/100.”

‘GREY’S ANATOMY’: QUICK HITS FROM KEVIN MCKIDD
True story: I adore Kevin McKidd. Not only is he a hard-working guy — currently, he’s editing the fourth episode of the season, which he directed — but he’s a massively good teaser. And while I’m going to wait to share our full convo with you, here are some really tasty bits from our chat. (And, yes, this is a totally mean way for me to do this. But, you have to admit, it’s also a little fun — for me):

SG: Is the cheating issue from last season still hanging over Owen and Cristina this season?
KM: I think we’ve kind of blown past that in a way because the cataclysmic events of what happened, especially everything with Cristina. It’s going to come back and affect Owen as well — even though he wasn’t on the plane. In retrospect, it’s going to come back and really affect him in a big way too and in a way that we don’t expect.

SG: We know that not all of the doctors are going to be working at Seattle Grace in the first episode (which is a flashforward). Obviously you can’t say who, but is it safe to assume that Owen and Christina are still in the same place working on these issues together?
KM: That is not safe to assume…[truncated]

SG: Let’s talk about the flashbacks.
KM: I can’t really say too much because that would be giving stuff away. Flashbacks are featured heavily in episode two and may appear in other ones.

SG: Did any of the characters reactions to the crash surprise you?
KM:…the writers have kind of turned everything on its head and under duress and under stress people do act in a way out of character…

Look for my full chat with McKidd, where he talks about directing and the new season, on Sept. 27, the day of the big season premiere!

This could possibly be the most impressive Neil Patrick Harris scene ever.

Watch Barnacle try to explain it all to Quinn in this exclusive clip below. Then, let us marvel together at NPH’s mad fast-talking skills in the comments.

'HIMYM': Go behind the scenes on Barney and Robin's wedding day -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

We know from the finale of How I Met Your Mother‘s seventh season that Barney and Robin get hitched — but, when, how, and who gets cold feet are questions that are all still up in the air. EW was on set for the shoot of the first episode of season 8 — titled “Farhampton” — which opens with Robin and Ted back in the bridal suite where we left them. We also got a sneak peek at the second episode of the season, “The Pre-nup” where we see Barney discussing the legal aspects of his upcoming nuptials (with Quinn this time, of course, — not Robin!).

“We like to play with the timeline on our show,” Cobie Smulders told EW. “We’re shooting this scene at the beginning for the first episode, but it’s going to continue at the very end of the season. I feel like the wedding is going to come back at the end of the season, but am I walking down the aisle? I don’t know.”

Check out what Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, and Josh Radnor had to say about coming back to set and what we can expect in season 8 in the exclusive video below.

'How I Met Your Mother' promo: Barney makes a run for it and Lily lets a secret slip -- VIDEO

We’re just a few weeks away from the Sept. 24 season premiere of How I Met Your Mother, and if you’re not excited, get there. Here are a few reasons:

1. As the brand new promo shows, we’re going to see much more from Robin and Barney’s wedding day, which hopefully doesn’t end with Barney on the run. (Though, Barney, I agree that cornflower blue was a better choice.)
2. We get to see Thomas Lennon as Klaus!
3. And “We’re going to show the fans a glimpse of something that we hope will blow their minds,” executive producer Craig Thomas promises. If the answer isn’t “grizzly bear in a tux,” my mind whirls with exciting possibilities.

'How I Met Your Mother' casting: Abby Elliott scores first post-'SNL' gig -- EXCLUSIVE

SNL‘s loss is How I Met Your Mother‘s gain.

EW has learned exclusively that exiting SNL cast member Abby Elliott has scored a multi-episode arc on the upcoming season of HIMYM, which kicks off Sept. 24.

“We’re thrilled to have the hilarious Abby Elliot joining us in an arc as Janeane, the craziest girl the HIMYM gang has ever encountered. And the strange, inexplicable phenomenon is: the crazier Janeane gets, the more attractive one of the gang finds her,” executive producer Craig Thomas tell us. “It doesn’t end well.”
