SPOILER ALERT! Who shot J.R? It was his sister-in-law and mistress Kristin Shepard. That may sound a bit ridiculous to offer a spoiler alert for something that aired 34 years ago, but consider that someone once sent an angry letter to EW after I offhandedly mentioned the identity of Rosebud from 1941’s Citizen Kane, a “mistake” I do not plan to make again here. But all of this begs the question: When does a spoiler cease to be a spoiler? And whose responsibility is it to prevent the dissemination of information after it has already been made public: the person that has already watched it, or the person who has yet to see the TV show or movie in question? Modern Family definitely has a gay agenda coming up, but it’s not what you think! We all know that Cameron and Mitchell are preparing for their big wedding day on the ABC sitcom, but before they can make it to the altar, there needs to be a wild and crazy Las Vegas bachelor party! However, as Eric Stonestreet told us when he stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105), it won’t be Cam & Mitchell’s bachelor party. “We just shot an episode that was kind of an anti-bachelor party episode in Vegas,” says the man who plays Cam. “When we get there we run into Langham, Mitchell’s ex played by the great Fred Armisen, and he’s there having his bachelor party. And they say ‘Well, while you’re here, feel free to stop by,’ and he hands me a piece of paper with all the happenings, and I turn and I go, ‘Wow, an actual gay agenda.’ So I sneak off and go and participate in their bachelor party while Mitchell gets a sauna and gets a massage.” READ FULL STORY
No parrots. No peg legs. No eye patches. You will find none of those things in Starz’s new pirate drama Black Sails (which debuts Jan.25). What you will find, however, is a big sweeping adventure in the pursuit of treasure. And leading that pursuit is none other than Toby Stephens, who stopped by the Entertainment Weekly Radio studios (SiriusXM, channel 105) to chat all about it. And he reveals that when he was originally approached about starring on a pirate show, he had no interest. “When my agent sent me the script,” says Stephens, “I just went, ‘forget it.’” But then he finally read the darn thing and enlisted in what has the potential to be Starz’s biggest hit since the dearly departed Spartacus.
You can now hear the entire interview right here on the InsideTV Podcast. Stephens explains about life on the high seas, the pirate code of conduct, and why “they stopped at the teeth” when it came to making him and his shipmates look especially gross and grimy. Stephens also discusses his role in the James Bond universe, not only playing a villain in Die Another Day, but actually playing 007 himself as well. It’s a fun, rollicking chat that somehow manages to completely avoid the words “arrgh,” “matey,” and “scurvy” throughout. Just click the audio player icon below to listen in.
But that’s not all! We also break down all the Golden Globe television category shockers (Brooklyn Nine-Nine?) with Kristen Baldwin while weighing in on all things Jacqueline Bisset. And last, but certainly not least, Tricia Helfer stops by the studio to talk about her new ABC show Killer Women as well as her continuing friendship/partnership with fellow Battlestar Galactica alum Katee Sackhoff. The only question is: How much awesomeness can you handle? Because there is plenty of awesomeness to go around. READ FULL STORY
Rejoice, human beings! Community is back, inching ever closer to actually fulfilling its “six seasons and a movie” destiny. Yet even as rabid as some fans may be, and even as exciting as the news is that show creator Dan Harmon has returned, there are still many who have yet to give the off-the-wall NBC comedy a chance. Rather than conduct an Inspector Spacetime investigation into this ongoing mystery, we enlisted Community cast member Gillian Jacobs to explain exactly why people should be tuning into season 5. And she did just that when she stopped by the Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) studios.
Now you can hear the entire conversation right here on the InsideTV Podcast. Jacobs talks all about the return of fired showrunner Harmon, discusses how her character of Britta has evolved (devolved?) since the show began, and reveals how much she actually understands when she first picks up a Community script. There is also a tangent about “stolen touchdowns” that is most certainly worth your time. It’s a must-listen for any fan of either Community or Torg the troll.
But that’s not all, because we then step into whooooooooose house? Run’s house!!!! (Sorry, 1980s rap reference there.) Rev Run himself stopped by the EW Radio studios with his lovely wife Justine to talk all about their new DIY show, Rev Run’s Renovation. Does the master M.C. know anything about home renovation? And can his marriage survive a house being turned upside down in order to install such things as a princess bed with a slide in his daughter’s room? I chat with hip-hop royalty about all that and more. READ FULL STORY
Paschal English got some company last week when Katie Collins became the second Survivor contestant ever to be ousted from the tribe after a colored-rock pulling tiebreaker. Her exit from Survivor: Blood vs. Water followed last night when she was beaten out by her own mother at Redemption Island. Katie called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) this morning to chat all about her time on the island, including her decision to chance it with the rocks, whether any part of her did not want to give her mother the okay to beat her, and why she is a bit worried about Kat after boyfriend Hayden went on about how “hot” she looked on the jury. And now you can listen to the entire interview right here and right now on the InsideTVPodcast. READ FULL STORY
Vytas Baskuaskas had his spot seemingly secured for another few days on Survivor: Blood vs. Water. Laura Morett had already won the Redemption Island duel, but he was well ahead of Tina Wesson in the loser-is-eliminated battle. Then he tried to sneak a peek at Laura’s completed puzzle. Then Laura blocked and twirled it so he couldn’t. And then she went one step further, giving Tina the answers so she could get her biggest competition out of the game. It was a savvy strategic move, but a brutal way for Vytas to be handed his proverbial walking papers, which explains why he refused the post-duel hug. The ousted Vytas called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) to share his feelings on the controversial move — and those feelings are still conflicted. “I was pretty bummed when it happened,” says Vytas. “It’s Survivor, man. It’s a game of low blows and it was a low blow. And as long as you don’t get called out on it, it’s not against the rules. So kudos to them for taking me out.” READ FULL STORY
As a previous winner of Survivor, Aras Baskauskas knew he would be a target when he returned to play Blood vs. Water. But he didn’t see it coming when he was voted out of the tribe a few weeks back. And he certainly didn’t see being betrayed by one of his closest allies in the game — Gervase. Now that he has been eliminated from the game after losing the duel at Redemption Island, Aras called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) this morning to break down how, why, and where it all went wrong. We have good news if you are a fan of Survivor‘s current Blood vs. Water season that features returning players competing with/against loved ones: There’s more to come. That’s according to Survivor host Jeff Probst, who called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) to chat about the longtime reality hit. And now you can hear the entire conversation right here and right now on the InsideTV Podcast.
When I asked Probst if this Blood vs. Water idea was one we might see again at some point, he wasted no time affirming that this concept will not be a one season and done outing. However, according to Probst, when they do bring it back, there could be a few changes. “Definitely somewhere down the line,” Probst said about another loved ones season. “We’re experimenting now with some casting ideas of how we can do it again and what’s the next version of it. Do you need returning players, or could you bring fresh couples? So we’re looking at all kinds of ideas.” READ FULL STORY
It was double trouble last night on Survivor: Blood vs. Water as two people were eliminated from the game when they lost the final pre-merge duel at Redemption Island. But was that final duel — in which the contestants had to put their feet in tiny footholds while hanging onto a pole to support all their weight for as long as possible — fair? We asked the eliminated man with the size 12-and-a-half feet — John Cody — his thoughts when he called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105), and now you can hear the entire thing on the InsideTV Podcast. InsideTV Podcast: Kat from 'Survivor' says she was 'pissed' Hayden did not take her place at Redemption Island
There was a super awkward scene in last night’s episode of Survivor: Blood vs. Water where Kat Edorrson — who had been voted out of her tribe and was set to compete in a duel to stay alive at Redemption Island — flat out told her boyfriend Hayden that she wanted him to swap spots with her. Only one problem: Hayden didn’t want to. Therefore, he didn’t. So how did Kat feel about that after she was eliminated? “After the game, I was PISSED!” she told Jessica Shaw and me when she called into Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) this morning. Michonne showed up last season on The Walking Dead slicing and dicing with her big katana sword. She was a force of nature, but one with a wall built up around her. Emotions were few and far between. But this season we have been introduced to Michonne 2.0. Instead of merely glaring and brooding, Michonne has actually made connections to people in her community — connections which have led to the most shocking development of all of season 4: Michonne smiling!
