'New Girl': Adam Brody on playing one of Jess' 'Exes' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Fresh off the steam of New Girl‘s most-watched ever post-Super Bowl episode featuring Prince, the show is back with another high-profile guest star. In addition to the always welcome return of Nick’s former live-in love Caroline (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), “Exes” also introduces Jess’ old beau Berkley (Adam Brody).

In an exclusive First Look at tonight’s installment, the O.G. O.C. geek crush talks about his hippie-dippie stay-at-home dad character, who at first appears to have remained besties with Jess (watch out for granolicious inside jokes!). But, as much as Brody himself had an easy time filming with stars Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson, the end of the clip shows a touch of friction that implies things don’t quite go according to the adorkable plan. Check it out below, then begin your rampant speculation! READ FULL STORY

Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, talked with EW about the Artist Once Again Known As Prince, promising he will play a central role in another step forward for live-in lovahs Nick and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) — and that’s before the guest headliner performs a new original song to close out the episode.

'New Girl': Schmidt and Cece reunite(!)... just not on purpose -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

The weeks since New Girl‘s Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) broke up have not been kind. When we pick back up in the Halloween-themed episode, “Keaton,” the former fat kid is mainlining mayonnaise, and the despondent model looks like Friends‘ Dirty Girl Cheryl has taken over her apartment.

Still basking in their coupled-up bliss, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) decide to cheer up their pals with a costume party and… Michael Keaton? So how exactly does the titular Batman star get roped into the loftmates’ shenanigans? And how will bitter exes Schmidt and Cece react when they see each other for the first time since their split? Find out the exclusive clip below. READ FULL STORY

'New Girl': True American gets a theme song and season 2 was 'Full of Schmidt' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Jess and Nick may have driven to Mexico and back since season 3 began, but that doesn’t mean all the great times that brought them together should be left in the rearview. As New Girl: The Complete Second Season comes out on DVD and Blu-ray today, EW can exclusively offer up an outtake from “Cooler” that shows the whole gang rockin’ the game of True American that led to THAT KISS. Who knew the country’s favorite rule-free drinking game had a theme song? Ringtone, please!

'New Girl' is back, beach! -- EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK VIDEO

As New Girl‘s third season kicks off, all the loftmates are involved in passionate affairs: Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) with each other, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) with both Cece (Hannah Simone) and Elizabeth (Merritt Wever), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) with… a puzzle.

A new behind-the-scenes video shows the whole gang picking up “exactly where [the finale] left off,” as Deschanel teases. Roomfriends Nick and Jess have driven into the night — and off to Mexico, where their budding courtship is, predictably, not all wine and roses. As resort-crashing and scavenged umbrella cocktails? New Girl‘s got you covered!

Meanwhile, Schmidt isn’t exactly happy about his roommates’ new relationship, but he’s got bigger fish to fry since he still can’t make a decision between his two big-love exes. Rounding things out, Winston has gotten really into jigsaw puzzles — like, composing-an-impromptu-puzzling-theme-song-into-them. Nice to know the blood loss from that badger bite isn’t affecting his mental acuity.

Check out the exclusive video below to hear Winston’s original composition, see several steamy Jess-Nick kisses, and get the inside scoop from the cast members themselves.

'New Girl': Jake Johnson talks to 'The Writer's Room' about that kiss -- VIDEO

New-Girl-Writers-Room.jpg

Tonight’s episode of Entertainment Weekly and Sundance Channel’s series The Writer’s Room sits down with New Girl creator Liz Meriwether, star Jake Johnson, and executive producers Brett Baer and Dave Finkel.

Talking about the first kiss between Nick (Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) in Jan. 29 episode, “Cooler,” Meriwether says, “We wanted it to be messy,” and Johnson himself admits that he was surprised the two characters’ showmance heated up as quickly as it did. But which of the loftmates was originally slated to kiss Jess at the end of a drunken night of True American? Find out in the video below! READ FULL STORY

'New Girl' stars cuddle up for fall promo poster, behind-the-scenes video -- FIRST LOOK

Oh, loftmates, we’ve missed you so! Fox rolls out its new key art for New Girl‘s third season tomorrow, and the bright-and-bubbly image is emblazoned with the cheeky slogan, “Friends don’t let friends do friends.” That would be in reference, of course, to the burgeoning romance between Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson). Perhaps the new couple’s friends are still adjusting, but we couldn’t be happier to find out where the “roomfriends”‘ relationship will lead.

The key art is fun, eye-popping, and chock full o’ personality (hey there, Nick’s turtle face!), hinting at the dynamics set to play out this fall. Winston (Lamorne Morris) looks particularly happy… perhaps he’s still loopy on meds after being mauled by Bucky the Badger? Cece (Hannah Simone) doesn’t seem too upset that Schmidt (Max Greenfield) literally ran away from her after she called off her wedding on his account — though they do appear to be keeping their distance.

That’s all speculation, of course. What we can tell you for sure, though, is what went down at the cast’s recent photo shoot. Scored to Cut One & Bamyasi’s “Always Looked So Blue,” this exclusive behind-the-scenes video is worth watching if only for a glimpse of Johnson leaning in to steal a kiss from his onscreen sweetie. Dennis Farina: Jake Johnson 'looked up to' his 'New Girl' dad

In a very sad case of life imitating art, actor Dennis Farina died Monday at age 69 just months after his New Girl character was laid to rest on TV.

In the March 26 episode “Chicago,” Nick Miller (Jake Johnson) and his roommates head to Nick’s hometown for the funeral of Walt Miller (Farina). Johnson clearly had a soft spot for his TV dad, sending this statement to EW on Monday:

Taylor Swift says 'I do' to 'New Girl' -- EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK

Who’s that girl? It’s Swift!

For New Girl‘s relationship-centric May 14 finale, who better to cameo as a wedding guest than Taylor Swift (right, with star Zooey Deschanel) — the music megastar who wrote the (song)book on love, break-ups, and everything in between? Swift cameos as a woman named Elaine. Though showrunner Liz Meriwether remains coy about what exactly brings Elaine to the nuptials of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), she admits the casting was no coincidence. “I’m a huge fan of hers,” she says. “I was fully geeking out about meeting [Taylor]. I didn’t go to meet her right away because I kind of had to compose myself — there’s a 14-year-old girl inside of me.” Apparently the feeling was mutual, Meriwether recalls: “She was quoting lines to us from the show. It was a really exciting night.” READ FULL STORY
