Snooki on how her pregnancy will affect her new spin-off and the next season of 'Jersey Shore'

Her baby bump may be keeping her from drinking and partying, but it’s certainly not going to dampen the drama on Snooki’s new MTV spin-off series, Snooki & JWoww, which premieres this summer.

“We’re nut-jobs sober,” the Jersey Shore star told reporters at a pre-MTV Upfront event Thursday afternoon. “When we’re drunk, we’re actually normal people.” Pal Jwoww added: “When I’m drunk, I’m kind of calm.”

Snooki also confirmed that her fiance Jionni will be a major presence on the show and teased plenty of relationship-related drama.

As for her how pregnancy will affect the next season of Jersey Shore, which is slated to pick back up in Seaside, New Jersey…well, you can expect the former party girl to sit out the crazy nights at Karma.

“As of this point, I have no interest in going to a club or anything because my life is totally changing, and I’ve been going to the clubs since I was like 10, so I’m over it,” Snooki said. “Usually Jersey Shore you party and go crazy, because it’s summer, but this time around it’s just like, normal everyday life for me.”

Though the reality star isn’t expecting her roommates to give up fist-pumping into the wee hours of the night (“Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean everyone has to be with me.”), co-star Pauly D said her pregnancy will certainly impact how he treats her on the show.

“I’m definitely going to be a little more protective over her than I normally am,” said Pauly, who added he’s ready and willing to babysit. “We’re all going to take a part in this baby, I think. We’re all having it. It’s the first Jersey Shore baby, and she’s been with us since day one and we’ve seen everything she went through, and we see how happy she is now so we’re happy for her.”

But will viewers get to partake in the baby fun if the show gets picked up for a seventh season? Snooki says she’s not sure yet, but seemed to leave the door open.

“I mean, I go down to the Shore every summer anyway, so we’ll see,” she said.

MTV’s revival of Punk’d and the debut of its first Jersey Shore spin-off launched to strong numbers Thursday night, though fell shy of the standards set by hits like Shore and the Teen Mom franchise.

Punk’d delivered 3.2 million viewers at 10 p.m., while Pauly D had 2.9 million viewers. Both were the night’s top show in MTV’s target 12-34 year-old demographic. By (perhaps unfair) comparison, Teen Mom has clocked 4 million viewers and Thursday night mainstay Shore has delivered over 8 million.

There will be a 'Jersey Shore' season 6 with the entire cast... including pregnant Snooki

Dr-situation

We all knew there would be a sixth season of Jersey Shore. Even though the ratings have declined over the last two seasons — seasons which were mainly memorable for their ongoing portrait of The Situation’s transformation from John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever into Daniel Day-Lewis at the end of There Will Be Blood — the show remains one of MTV’s biggest hits ever. But in the wake of Snooki’s announcement about her impending pregnancy (and nuptials), it seemed unlikely that the whole cast would be back for another go-round. However, MTV announced today that season 6 of Jersey Shore will commence filming this summer in Seaside Heights… and everyone will be back. “MTV gets ready for fist pumps and baby bumps,” says a press release, noting that “America’s favorite housemates will all return … and the house dynamic is headed into unchartered territory.” READ FULL STORY »

'Jersey Shore' sets season 5 premiere date -- VIDEO

The Jersey Shore gang’s return to Seaside now has a premiere date.

The MTV hit will return to its roots on Jan. 5 in its usual Thursdays at 10 p.m. time slot. Last season in Italy averaged an incredible 9.4 million viewers, including those who watched DVR. The audience declined for the first time, however, for the season finale. (More on that here.) Will a return to Jersey resume the show’s amazing ratings Karma?

Here’s a video preview of season five where Paulie has a tanning accident (hey, it’s that kind of show): READ FULL STORY »

Are you bored of 'Jersey Shore'? Season 4 finale ratings down for first time

Jersey-SHore-Vinny-Pauly

As the Jersey Shore cast wrapped its drunken scream-filled vacation in Italy, the show’s ratings concluded lower than the previous season for the first time.

Shore delivered 6.6 million viewers for its season 4 finale, down 13 percent from season 3′s closer. That downturn is despite the season launching higher than ever, with a spectacular 8.8 million blowout that was MTV’s most-watched series premiere ever. So far Shore finales have clocked 4.8 million for season one, 6.1 million for season two, 7.6 million for season three and, now, reversing down to 6.6 million.

So the Italy adventure began more popular than ever, yet the finale dipped for the first time. Why?

Fans of the show can probably give a few reasons: READ FULL STORY »

'Jersey Shore' star to appear on '90210'

Vinny-Guadagnino

A little bit of the Jersey Shore will come to the CW’s 90210 this autumn. EW has learned that Vinny Guadagnino has been cast in an episode that will air in November.

Guadagnino will portray a celebrity who plays in a high stakes poker game with Liam (Matt Lanter) when the cast heads to Las Vegas. He won’t play himself, however: He’ll depict a “young and gregarious” celebrity who “enjoys the fruits of fame.” Earlier this month, the show put out a search for a celeb who “could be anybody from an upcoming movie star to a well-known reality TV personality.”

90210 wanted casting agents to submit well-known names only — thus, the arrival of Vinny!

VMA ratings: Biggest MTV audience ever

Bruno-Mars-VMA

Lady Gaga is going to have to host the show next year to top this. MTV’s annual Video Music Awards just scored its biggest audience ever last night — 12.4 million viewers.

Not only are those record-setting numbers for the VMAs, but last night’s show was also the most-watched single telecast in MTV’s history. The viewership is up 9 percent from last year’s show and stands as the most-watched non-sports cable telecast of the year (VMA winners and losers here).

UPDATE: Jersey Shore, which served as a lead in (recap here), netted a good — but not record setting — 8 million viewers. The pilot preview of I Want My Pants Back (exclusive trailer here) landed 5.1 million viewers after the show — though quite a drop off from the VMAs, that’s still a strong sampling for MTV, especially for a scripted show. The comedy is set to debut Jan. 2012.

Cable shows: Hottest program this summer was...

Situation-Snooki-fight

Who cared about broadcast shows like America’s Got Talent or So You Think You Can Dance? Cable programs had no trouble drumming up the eyeballs this summer, which is probably why viewership levels were up year-to-year among ad-supported basic nets like TNT, USA, History and MTV (4 percent) versus what the Big Four broadcasters were attracting (down 3 percent).

Did your favorite ad-supported cable show make the top 10 cut? (We’re talking just the nets with commercial, people. Not HBO or Showtime). Check out the charts below which take into account the top 10 new and returning shows on ad-supported cable among viewers through Aug. 21. (Note to tweeners: Kiddie nets were excluded). And one other thing: Who knew there was a show called Mounted in Alaska? READ FULL STORY »

'Jersey Shore' Italy ratings are immenso!

jersey-shore

Are you really surprised?

MTV’s Italy edition of Jersey Shore debuted to the show’s largest premiere audience ever — 8.8 million viewers. That’s down just a hair from the reality mega-hit’s previous all-time best of 8.9 million viewers last January.

Shore also easily beat everything on broadcast last night, including CBS’ Big Brother (7.3 million viewers). If the season follows the same pattern as season 3, the next two weeks will see additional gains as more fans catch up. What did you think of the return of Shore? Of Situation telling Ronnie millions of viewers he hooked up with Snooks? Of JWoww’s boobs getting bigger while the rest of her gets smaller? Of the fact that Florence seemingly has better nightclubs than Miami?
