'Big Brother' host Julie Chen on 'shocked, embarrassed, confused' Caleb

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Well, a very different exit this time around as opposed to the one the night before with Frankie. What did you sense with Caleb when he walked out —  just utter shock?
I think he was shocked and embarrassed and confused. But I think the thunderous applause took over and he was enjoying the attention. Good for him. I am sure he was hurt and felt played.  READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother' host Julie Chen on Frankie's exit and Derrick's biggest competition

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You called Frankie’s reaction after being voted out, “the happiest eviction I’ve ever seen.” Did all that enthusiasm and flying glitter take you back a bit?
Not at all. I expected no less from a showman like Frankie. He was consistent this summer — always interesting to watch. This guy was born to be in front of an audience. READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother' host Julie Chen on who was helped and hurt by the Rewind button

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Julie, did you think there was any possible chance whatsoever that one of these people was not going to press the BB Rewind button?
JULIE CHEN: There was no chance in “you know where” that these houseguests were NOT pressing the button. These are hard core die hard fans! If they didn’t press the button, they wouldn’t deserve to be there.  READ FULL STORY

Julie Chen on 'Big Brother' boos: 'No one likes to see a woman making a fool of her husband'

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, Julie, that BB Rewind explanation was pretty quick last night. Give us a refresher on exactly how this will work and your thoughts on what it could do to the game.
JULIE CHEN: Basically if the rewind button gets pushed, the two nominees next week come off the block and we immediately rewind the game one week. That means all house guests play for HOH all over again…. So there could likely be a new HOH, two new nominees, a new POV winner and then who knows who gets bounced from the house next.  [UPDATE: Julie sent the following update for clarification on this point: "To clarify: All the Houseguests, who competed last night, will play for HOH all over again.  Sorry for any confusion. Chenbot malfunction.  What the bleep #%€?¥!?”] READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother' host Julie Chen says 'Christine's husband has every right to be upset'

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I was positively riveted watching Christine’s husband and family talk about how uncomfortable they were watching her cuddle and flirt with Cody. What do you make of the whole Christine-Cody situation, and does her husband have a right to be upset?
JULIE CHEN: Christine’s husband has every right to be upset. In fact, he wasn’t upset enough. All I know is if I ever did what Christine did then I would be coming home to no husband at all!!! Then again Christine is a free spirit and he knew who he married in the first place.   READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother:' Julie Chen on her live ice bucket challenge and the death of Zankie

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, obviously we need to start with the Ice Bucket Challenge. How nervous were you about doing that on live television and how did it feel when Will Arnett dumped that water on you?
JULIE CHEN: I was sooooo excited to do this on live television. It’s the only way you can’t back out or run away….you must commit. I was adamant that the bucket had to be equal parts ice and water and to be very full. Unfortunately, most of the ice melted by the time the bucket was poured and that made the water temperature beyond cold. I also asked that the bucket really go straight over my head for full effect. It felt great and fun and funny for about the first 3 seconds and then it was like…am I going to catch pneumonia?!?!?  This is NOT fun anymore…it’s freezing and I am shaking. But well worth it for a great cause. READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother': Julie Chen says 'I am surprised the women didn't put up more of a fight this year'

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was Nicole’s biggest mistake in this game?
JULIE CHEN: Unfortunately, her biggest mistake was trusting Christine too much and realizing she couldn’t, too late. She was also too honest, but it made her beloved by fans. She got TWO rounds of applause upon her eviction by the live audience, which has never happened this season and the other houseguests inside noticed. Take that! READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother': Julie Chen defends Donny's big Team America decision

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: We had another unanimous vote this week as Amber was evicted. There have been a lot of unanimous or near unanimous votes this season. What is it about the house dynamic this year that has led to so much consensus?
JULIE CHEN: The house is being run by men who intimidate the women and those that are not in their alliance. No one is willing to put a target on their back and no one is strong enough to start forming an alliance against the Detonators. It’s pure intimidation. It started out as brawn that intimidated everyone — i.e. Devin and Caleb — and it morphed into the other men in the Bomb Squad running the house now:  Derrick, Zach, Frankie, and Cody.

Julie Chen on 'Big Brother's Zach-Frankie showmance, Cody's 'wrong move'

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few of EW’s burning questions about the latest episode of Big Brother.

Between Cody’s will-he-or-won’t-he nomination, Frankie’s tragic news, Brittany’s hanging toenails, Donny’s gentle eyes, Jocasta’s dumb bowties, Hayden and Nicole’s hook-up (finally), and Derrick’s heroic—and perhaps very savvy—throwing of the HoH competition, there was a lot going on this week in the world of Big Brother. Thankfully, Julie Chen is here to help take some of the mystery away.  READ FULL STORY

'Big Brother': Julie Chen on first evictions of the season and game changes

Each week after every eviction, host Julie Chen will answer a few questions about the latest episode of ‘Big Brother’.

EW: Two evictions in, do you think the game changes have been effective?
JULIE CHEN: I absolutely think the game changes are effective. With two less people, it’s only going to get tougher to decide who the two HOHs nominate. It almost forces people to play hard or be eliminated. Plus you are going to have a lot of upset people every week with 4 nominees. Even if you win battle of the block, you are going to be mad you were nominated and then you’re going to want payback! This game just gets more intense. READ FULL STORY
