PaleyFest 2013: 'The Big Bang Theory' cast on the origins of 'bazinga' and more

Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, and Raj Koothrappali may not be doctors of the medical sort, but they still know how to serve up a heaping dosage of best medicine (a.k.a. laughs — lots of them) to a sold-out audience. At least, that’s what their real-life counterparts — along with other cast members and writer-producers of The Big Bang Theory — did Wednesday evening for the CBS comedy’s PaleyFest panel in Beverly Hills’ Saban Theatre.

The event, presented by the Paley Center for Media, was pretty short on spoilers. The production schedule is currently not that far ahead of viewers, who will get to see the 19th episode of season 6 tonight, but there were plenty of entertaining and funny behind-the-scenes stories and playful moments among the talent on the panel, which was moderated by NCIS actress Pauley Perrette.

Dish says CBS made Kaley Cuoco take down 'Hopper' tweet, CBS denies it

Kaley Cuoco has found herself in the middle of a big feud between The Dish Network and CBS, the network that airs her hit show The Big Bang Theory.

Dish accused CBS of telling Cuoco to take down a sponsored Twitter message on the actress’ feed that promoted the Hopper, a DVR device that allows customers to automatically skip commercials. She wrote, “Watching live TV anywhere on the #Hopper looks pretty awesome!” The tweet has since been deleted.

DISH, for its part, issued a press release yesterday saying, “It’s disappointing that CBS — once the exemplar of editorial independence and innovation — continues to use its heavy hand to hold back progress from consumers,” said Joe Clayton, Dish president and CEO. “Clearly, with this kind of response, consumers have a true interest in the types of innovations the DISH Hopper offers. It’s a shame that CBS, despite its legacy, feels it needs to thwart this kind of consumer demand.” READ FULL STORY

Kaley Cuoco is set to return as host of the 2013 People’s Choice Awards, CBS announced today.

Cuoco, who stars as Penny on CBS’ hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, first hosted the awards show in January, replacing five-year veteran Queen Latifah. Her lively, self-deprecating performance — along with cameos from Neil Patrick Harris, the cast of Parks & Recreation, and others — garnered significant praise. READ FULL STORY

'The Big Bang Theory' cast on last season's finale and their top moments of all time -- EXCLUSIVE

Spend five minutes talking to The Big Bang Theory‘s Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, and Johnny Galecki, and two things become clear: One, these castmates express their genuine warmth and affection for each other by a near-constant stream of good-natured teasing. And two, trying to steer their conversation is like attempting to corral Sheldon after he’s had coffee — it’s best just to enjoy the ride.

Case in point: When EW sat down with the Big Bang quintet after their photo shoot for this week’s cover story on the CBS hit, we asked each actor to share their personal favorite moment in the entire series for their respective characters. Things did not quite go as planned. Check out their answers, which stretched across all five seasons of the show, below: READ FULL STORY
