Shippers of Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) know it’s only a matter of time until the exes fall back into each other’s arms. But Schmidt’s motives for planting a passionate kiss on his love in New Girl‘s next episode are unexpected, to say the least.

When Schmidt (Max Greenfield) schooling Jess (Zooey Deschanel) in the deceptive art of online dating is the second biggest takeaway of an episode of New Girl, you know things are going to to get legitimately crazy.
Indeed, this exclusive clip showing a stoned Nick (Jake Johnson) takes the cake—and probably eats it like Fat Schmidt in his heyday. Joined by Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) and Cece (Hannah Simone), Nick practically reverts back to his Baja jacket-wearing college self in the latest episode, “Dice.”
The ep’s title comes from the aforementioned, Tinder-like app. In a second clip, Schmidt teaches Jess to roll the Dice as she continues to move on from Nick. For his part, the Z Is for Zombie author isn’t doing much moving when the weed sends him into a spiral of circular logic and repetition not unlike a malfunctioning Fembot.
So just how do Winston and a party full of LAPD officers come into play? Find out below. READ FULL STORY
New Girl will be hitting the reset button on its fourth season, bringing the show back to basics without the messiness of Nick and Jess’ relationship bogging down the Fox comedy.
Instead, all six of the show’s main characters are now single, providing a new wealth of comedy as they attempt to get back out there with various incoming guest-stars. “If you’re an actor and you want to have sex with one of the New Girl cast members, call Liz Meriwether to figure it out,” the show’s creator jokes of the new season.
But does that mean Nick and Jess are done for good? And will Schmidt and Cece get back together? Below, Meriwether teases what’s in store for the ragtag sextet:
'New Girl' finale postmortem: Zooey Deschanel, Lamorne Morris talk Nick and Jess [SPOILER], a 'reset' in season 4
Fair warning, Roomfriends: If you haven’t seen New Girl‘s sea-legged finale, change course now to avoid the iceberg full of SPOILERS ahead. If you have seen the episode, click through while we ready the full recap (UPDATE: It’s live!) and see what Zooey Deschanel, Lamorne Morris, and executive producer Dave Finkel had to say about “Cruise.” (Secondary warning and deepest apologies to Schmidt: Prepare for lots of nautical puns.) Though New Girl‘s third season has reached its end, star Zooey Deschanel is embarking on her own new adventure as the finale, “Cruise,” shows off several looks from “To Tommy, From Zooey,” the capsule collection Deschanel co-designed with fashion titan Tommy Hilfiger.
Hilfiger notes that Deschanel’s “modical” (mod + nautical) looks — including the dress above — make for a “serendipitous” addition to Tuesday’s episode, which sees the loftmates roped into a high-seas farce after exes Jess (Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) realize the couples cruise they booked while drunk is non-refundable.
“I didn’t even tell Liz [Meriwether, New Girl‘s creator] I had a fashion line,” Deschanel says about her pieces’ appearance in the show. “I showed several samples to Deborah Maguire, who’s our costume designer…and put them in the mix for Liz and the powers that be to review.” She adds with a laugh: “When I walked [on set] in them, I got so many compliments. People had no idea.”
Below, see two more of Deschanel’s designs from tonight’s episode, plus a few teases about how the finale will play out for the exes and their reluctant shipmates. READ FULL STORY
This week on New Girl Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) attempt to show the world they know a thing or two about spitting verses. Check out what happens on the next episode when the boys’ pick-up rap group, The Dumbest Boys In School, perform at Coolidge Middle School.
Tuesday night’s episode of New Girl will find Winston (Lamorne Morris), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and Coach (Damon Wayans Jr.) at odds over how to put the moves on their new, very attractive female neighbors.
'New Girl' Super Bowl episode: Jake Johnson on supermodels, a baseball All-Star, and Prince! -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS
After the pigskin comes the purple velvet.
As we previously reported, Prince is hosting a shindig Sunday night, and the New Girl gang is (mostly) invited! Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, talked with EW about the Artist Once Again Known As Prince, promising he will play a central role in another step forward for live-in lovahs Nick and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) — and that’s before the guest headliner performs a new original song to close out the episode.
Meanwhile, L.A. Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and Victoria’s Secret models Alessandra Ambrosio and Ana Beatriz Barros also show up for a house party that leaves any bash from 1999 in its dust. Let’s go crazy, shall we? Click through for your exclusive First Look at the loftmates’ epic evening. READ FULL STORY
Jess and Nick may have driven to Mexico and back since season 3 began, but that doesn’t mean all the great times that brought them together should be left in the rearview. As New Girl: The Complete Second Season comes out on DVD and Blu-ray today, EW can exclusively offer up an outtake from “Cooler” that shows the whole gang rockin’ the game of True American that led to THAT KISS. Who knew the country’s favorite rule-free drinking game had a theme song? Ringtone, please!
After that, just for funsies, check out the official “Full of Schmidt” reel of Max Greenfield’s best moments as the loft’s favorite former heavyweight. From this one-minute supercut alone, there have to be enough Douchebag Jar contributions to buy a lifetime supply of shower gelato. Watch below. READ FULL STORY
As New Girl‘s third season kicks off, all the loftmates are involved in passionate affairs: Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) with each other, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) with both Cece (Hannah Simone) and Elizabeth (Merritt Wever), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) with… a puzzle.
A new behind-the-scenes video shows the whole gang picking up “exactly where [the finale] left off,” as Deschanel teases. Roomfriends Nick and Jess have driven into the night — and off to Mexico, where their budding courtship is, predictably, not all wine and roses. As resort-crashing and scavenged umbrella cocktails? New Girl‘s got you covered!
Meanwhile, Schmidt isn’t exactly happy about his roommates’ new relationship, but he’s got bigger fish to fry since he still can’t make a decision between his two big-love exes. Rounding things out, Winston has gotten really into jigsaw puzzles — like, composing-an-impromptu-puzzling-theme-song-into-them. Nice to know the blood loss from that badger bite isn’t affecting his mental acuity.
Check out the exclusive video below to hear Winston’s original composition, see several steamy Jess-Nick kisses, and get the inside scoop from the cast members themselves.
Oh, loftmates, we’ve missed you so! Fox rolls out its new key art for New Girl‘s third season tomorrow, and the bright-and-bubbly image is emblazoned with the cheeky slogan, “Friends don’t let friends do friends.” That would be in reference, of course, to the burgeoning romance between Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson). Perhaps the new couple’s friends are still adjusting, but we couldn’t be happier to find out where the “roomfriends”‘ relationship will lead.
The key art is fun, eye-popping, and chock full o’ personality (hey there, Nick’s turtle face!), hinting at the dynamics set to play out this fall. Winston (Lamorne Morris) looks particularly happy… perhaps he’s still loopy on meds after being mauled by Bucky the Badger? Cece (Hannah Simone) doesn’t seem too upset that Schmidt (Max Greenfield) literally ran away from her after she called off her wedding on his account — though they do appear to be keeping their distance.
That’s all speculation, of course. What we can tell you for sure, though, is what went down at the cast’s recent photo shoot. Scored to Cut One & Bamyasi’s “Always Looked So Blue,” this exclusive behind-the-scenes video is worth watching if only for a glimpse of Johnson leaning in to steal a kiss from his onscreen sweetie.
