Austin Butler won’t be off The CW for long. The Life Unexpected and Carrie Diaries alum has landed a recurring role on Arrow’s upcoming third season, EW has learned.

Alloy adds 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Parks and Recreation,' and 'Pretty Little Liars' alums to cast of web series 'Dating Rules'
Alloy Entertainment — the minds behind teen series Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Circle, and many more — is currently producing a new web series, Dating Rules From My Future Self, which is adding several new cast members. EW has exclusively learned that Taylor Kinney (The Vampire Diaries), Alison Becker (Parks and Recreation), Mircea Monroe (Episodes), and Bryce Johnson (Pretty Little Liars) have joined the cast alongside the sole star so far, Life Unexpected‘s Shiri Appleby (pictured here), who is also producing with Alloy’s Josh Bank, Bob Levy, and Tripp Reed.
The nine-episode series — which will premiere in January — is being directed by Elizabeth Allen (90210, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl) and is an original concept from Alloy that follows a 29-year-old woman (Appleby) who gets text messages from herself 10 years in the future that serve as warnings that she has to change her dating tactics or she’ll end up alone and unhappy. Dating Rules is Alloy’s sixth web series, and the company is currently webcasting First Day 2: First Dance and Wendy.

Sources confirm that Life Unexpected has received an order for two additional scripts. The second-year CW drama—which received an initial order of 13 episodes—hit a season high in total viewers (1.7 million) this week. ABC, meanwhile, has ordered four more No Ordinary Family scripts. Brothers & Sisters also received a four script pickup.
And for once, I’m not exaggerating. Someone over at The CW’s PG-rated Life Unexpected has a decidedly R-rated sense of humor, as evidenced by the following (presumably unauthorized) behind-the-scenes video. If this doesn’t chase those Monday blues away, nothing will.

Question: Where is the Hugh Laurie interview you promised us from the Emmys?! House fans are an impatient lot! —Gillian
Ausiello: First off, simmer yourself. I’ve had a lot on my plate the past few days, if you hadn’t noticed. Second, the interview is RIGHT. HERE.
So they’re finally going there with Huddy.
HUGH LAURIE: It seems that way.
LAURIE: I’m scared for him. Terrified. But so far so good. Baby steps.
Are you happy they finally took the plunge?
LAURIE: I care less about what happens than how it happens. And if you do it right, it will work. And if we don’t do it right, nothing works. But I think we’ve danced around the idea long enough; it was time to take some action.
Is it safe to say that if it doesn’t work with Huddy it won’t work with anyone?
LAURIE: That’s a possibility. He might be fatally flawed.
Question: Please give me some scoop about Jenny’s return to Gossip Girl! —Giovanni
Ausiello: I was right. Jenny’s reappearance is directly connected to Tim Gunn’s upcoming cameo. Turns out Blair permits her nemesis to return to the scene of her last crime (i.e., Manhattan) just long enough for her to interview for a job with Gunn at Parsons. Without giving too much away, Raccoon Eyes inadvertently gets caught up in Chuck and Blair’s latest drama, and the whole mess comes to a head at (natch) a big fancy party. READ FULL STORY
Two One Tree Hill characters are about to pay an unexpected visit to Portland.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that new Tuesday companions One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected will stage a crossover this fall when OTH songbirds Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) and Mia (Kate Voegele) guest-star on the Oct. 12 episode of LUX.
From a creative standpoint, the stunt actually makes sense. READ FULL STORY
Question: As of today, I have officially seen every single episode of Grey’s Anatomy, and now I don’t know what to do with myself! Grey’s scoop, please! —Bea
Ausiello: Even though nearly two months will have passed since the shooting rampage, Derek will still be in pretty bad shape when the season starts. And I’m not talking physically.
Question: What can you tell us about the Grey’s Anatomy premiere? —Claudia
Ausiello: A major character will be sent directly to jail by the end of the episode. Hint: This person has already been name-checked in this week’s AA.
Question: Do you know if NCIS will deal more with what happened to Ziva in Somalia? —Carlee
Ausiello: Funny you should ask. Exec producer Shane Brennan just told me the following: “In November sweeps, we dip again into a story that perhaps everyone thought was played out. It involves Ziva.” READ FULL STORY
