Fans of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles can rejoice: Looks like Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles will be back for another summer. The juicy procedural that stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander consistently produced amazing numbers — it’s ranked #1 out of all summer’s basic cable television shows with an average of 8.4 million viewers.
TNT also renewed Major Crimes and Perception, along with the previously announced renewal of Falling Skies. Major Crimes averages more than 6.7 million viewers while Perception snags around 5.6 million viewers per episode.
Seems like there’s something golden in the water over at TNT.
Major Crimes is staging a major classic TV reunion.
EW has learned that TV (and all-around) stars Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show), Paul Dooley (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Ron Glass (Barney Miller), Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) and Marion Ross (Happy Days) are all set to appear in an episode of the crime drama, set to air in August.
Per the story line, the quintet will play a group of outspoken residents at an apartment complex, who all once worked together on a 1970s crime drama (called Prognosis: Homicide!). In the episode, the tenants help Major Crimes solve a case involving the death of a rather unpopular neighbor.

TNT announces summer premiere dates for new Dwayne Johnson series, 'Rizzoli & Isles,' 'Falling Skies,' more
The countdown to the final episodes of the 2012-2013 season for many broadcast network shows began last week, as ABC, Fox, NBC, CBS and the CW announced their season finale dates. But fans of TNT shows can now mark their calendars for the return of shows like Falling Skies and Rizzoli & Isles. The cable network announced their summer premiere dates today.
TNT has four new series lined up for this summer. The first to debut is The Hero, a reality competition series that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosts. TNT describes it as a show that “will bring nine ordinary people together and assign them various missions testing their brains, their brawn and even their morality.” The Hero will be the lead-in for another new competition series, the Survivor-esque 72 Hours, which drops three competing teams in the wilderness with only one bottle of water and a GPS. The contestants have three days to find a hidden briefcase full of cash.

The final six episodes of TNT’s The Closer will push Det. Brenda Leigh Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) to the limit professionally and personally. And when creator James Duff and star Sedgwick hopped on the phone for conversations with EW about the end of the series, neither could think of a better way to say farewell to a character whose strength has taken center stage for almost seven seasons.
As the final six episodes kick off tonight on TNT, we take a look at what’s in store and look ahead to the show’s spin-off, Major Crimes, which will follow Capt. Raydor (Mary McDonnell) and several members of Johnson’s existing team (who, Duff says, are “within blocks of each other, if not floors”). But the big question? Will Sedgwick ever make an appearance on Major Crimes? “There’s definitely a chance,” says the actress. “We’ll see.”
