'Veronica Mars' movie: Max Greenfield confirms Deputy Leo's return -- VIDEO

Rejoice, Marshmallows: Deputy Leo is back!

Emmy-nominated New Girl star Max Greenfield revealed during a Google Hangout with Gold Derby on Tuesday that he plans to reprise his old Veronica Mars role for Rob Thomas’ upcoming crowd-funded movie. Greenfield played Leo, a sheriff’s deputy and a onetime love interest for Kristen Bell’s Veronica, in 11 episodes of the original series, appearing infrequently throughout all three seasons.

“I will be there — so will Deputy Leo,” Greenfield said with a grin. “It’s gonna be like a fun reunion. You wanna go in there and do some really solid work because obviously, people put up their own money to see this. I think everybody who’s playing a part in this thing has a responsibility, which is fun and exciting.”

After two seasons playing sharp-tongued, side-eye-slinging model Cece on New Girl, Hannah Simone has been a snarky foil for best friend Jess (Zooey Deschanel). But as Jess got saucy planning Cece’s sudden bachelorette party last night, Cece softened up. Weeks away from an arranged marriage to her perfect-on-paper Indian fiancé Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), Cece copped to insecurities about her engagement that will impact the rest of the season — and maybe even gave shippers a glint of hope that the loft’s lovable douchebag Schmidt (Max Greenfield) still has a shot with his model love.

In a recent chat with EW, Simone broke down the cases for (and against) Shiv and Schmidt, shared her reaction to finally finding out Cece’s decision, and discussed a sexy new campaign she’s joined (Schmidt would definitely approve). READ FULL STORY »

New Girl fans have relished putting together the puzzle that is Nick Miller, TV’s most lovable thirtysomething curmudgeon. Back in January, the episode ”A Father’s Love” introduced one piece in the form of Nick’s scamming dad Walt (Dennis Farina). This Tuesday, an unexpected trip to Chicago offers a few more: Nick’s mother Bonnie (Margo Martindale), brother Jamie (Nick Kroll), and cousin Bobby (Bill Burr). The reasons that force Nick and the roommates to visit the Windy City may be dramatic, but the results are nothing short of hilarious.

In an exclusive video, Martindale and Kroll join Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, to tease “Chicago.” As for how star Zooey Deschanel ends up in an Elvis jumpsuit — and what the meet-not-so-cute between Nick’s family and Jess (Deschanel) could mean for the roomfriends’ relationship… well you’ll just have to watch below to find out. Nick and Jess kissed over a month ago, or, in television time, four episodes ago. But don’t worry… we found out Monday night at the New Girl PaleyFest panel that it’s still the thing that everyone wants to talk about. Both the discussion and the sneak peek of next week’s new episode, ”Quick Hardening Caulk,” proved that the kiss was anything but old news.

Even though conversation kept coming back to The Kiss — and what it meant, and what it will mean, and how long they were planning it — the cast and producers did touch on a few other subjects, including Cece’s sudden engagement, the group’s upcoming trip to Chicago, and the mystery behind Schmidt’s first name. The energy between the cast and producers was infectious, and you almost wished that the series creator Elizabeth Meriwether could give herself a role on the show too. Jake Johnson even sang the theme song for the audience, after Zooey Deschanel declined.

Click past the jump for the top five takeaways from the New Girl panel.
