'NCIS': Cote de Pablo on Ziva's boyfriend and season-ending serial killer arc -- EXCLUSIVE

The April 5 episode of CBS’ NCIS has been a long time coming for “Tiva” fans. We’ll finally meet Ziva’s CIA boyfriend Ray, played by Without a Trace‘s Enrique Murciano. “You never know if you’re gonna have chemistry, and since I had no say in the casting, I was sort of waiting to meet this famous Enrique Murciano,” Cote de Pablo says. “I had actually researched him. I looked him up on Google. I got as much information as I could. And then when I met him, it was kind of instant. We hit it off. He’s from Miami, I’m from Miami. He had me laughing immediately, and I’m a sucker for laughter, so that was it.” Wait. Back up. She really Googled him? “Ohmygod, I so Googled him,” she laughs.

'NCIS' scoop: Scott Grimes to play Anthony DiNozzo's old partner

Some juicy details have emerged about the much-anticipated Anthony DiNozzo origin episode that will air May 3 on NCIS: EW has learned exclusively that Scott Grimes (ER) will play Det. Danny Price, an ex-partner of Michael Weatherly’s character. The two worked together 10 years ago while serving as cops in Baltimore.

Grimes, who already announced his gig via Twitter, will appear in one episode.

Back in November, NCIS flashed back 20 years to finally reveal what happened in Amsterdam to shape Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll), and what led him to become the director (a question fans had been asking themselves for more than two seasons). To prepare for the episode, Carroll spent lots of time in the makeup trailer to shave the years off (for more on his transformation, click here).

Will Weatherly go through the same process? Is it even possible to make the guy hotter than he already is?

Steven Tyler and J. Lo don’t necessarily appeal to everybody who watches TV.

American Idol may be the most popular show in all of TV – the Wednesday editions have averaged 25.8 million viewers while the ones on Thursday pull in 24.2 million. But the singing competition doesn’t hog all the glory in the house of Nielsen – especially when it comes to specific demographics like kids, young men, and adults over 50.

UPDATE: 'NCIS' ties 'Glee' in ratings

NCISImage Credit: Patrick Wymore/CBSUPDATE: In the national Nielsen ratings update released Thursday morning, the race had tightened and Glee and NCIS are now tied.

PREVIOUS: The NCIS team tackled Fox’s Glee in the ratings Tuesday night, the ultra-veteran CBS crime procedural beating the musical comedy phenomena for the first time in the 18-49 adult demo.

NCIS delivered 21.3 million viewers and a 4.4 preliminary adult demo rating, just barely squeezing out Glee with 10.5 million viewers and a 4.3 rating. (NCIS typically wins Tuesday in total audience, but it’s the adult demo that advertisers covet and broadcasters primarily use to make their programming decisions.)

Still, Fox should have no complaints: Glee was up from last week, with Raising Hope (6.2 million, 2.5) and struggling newbie Traffic Light (4.1 million, 1.7) climbing slightly too. READ FULL STORY »

Midseason ratings: The top 50 shows so far!

The news isn’t that great for the Big Four: From the Sept. 20 start of the season through Feb. 13, every net except the CW is down among adults 18-49, the most important demographic to advertisers. CBS is posting the biggest drop at 12 percent, followed by ABC (11 percent), Fox (8 percent) and NBC (4 percent). The CW, in comparison, is up 11 percent (though that’s not exactly the sand box that the teen-loving network likes to play in). If it’s any consolation, the collective adult 18-49 rating for all of TV — and we mean every last network — is down 2 percent versus a year ago, so its not just the broadcast nets that may be taking a hit.  READ FULL STORY »

Security guard killed in van accident on 'NCIS' set

A security guard was killed on the set of NCIS Wednesday afternoon, when he was struck by a passenger van that veered into the show’s production camp in Santa Clarita, Calif. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he died soon after arrival. The show’s production has been suspended.

“Everyone at the network, the studio and NCIS is devastated by the news,” CBS said in a statement. “Our hearts grieve for his family and friends for this tragic loss.”

NCIS‘ producers, cast, and crew offered this statement: “With profound sympathy we mourn the tragic passing of our co-worker and friend. NCIS is a family. And, as with any family, we are deeply saddened by this unexpected loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.”

Who likes 'NCIS'? Close to 23 million of you.

NCISImage Credit: Monty Brinton/CBSFor the love of Mark Harmon, would you look at those ratings for NCIS!  The veteran CBS drama posted a series record in viewers on Tuesday – a whopping 22.7 million – and also earned its best adult 18-49 rating (4.6/12) since October of 2009, according to preliminary ratings. As a result, CBS slaughtered the competition in viewers (17.5 million) and 18-49 (3.5/9) for the night. Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million viewers.

Then again, CBS didn’t have a helluva lot of competition in the 8 p.m. time slot. Fox aired a repeat of Glee and ABC went with an oldie of No Ordinary Family, so Harmon and Co. only had to do battle with The Biggest Loser, which also posted a tidy gain over the previous week by earning a 3.3/8 — up 3% — and 9.1 million.

The rest of CBS’s schedule rocked, too. NCIS: LA earned a 3.8/9 —  up 15% — and 17.7 million, while  The Good Wife grabbed a 2.2/6 – up 5% — and 12.1 million. READ FULL STORY »

Ratings: 'NCIS' socks it to 'The Biggest Loser, 'V,' 'Parenthood'

Parenthood-castImage Credit: Art Streiber/NBCMan, originals of The Biggest Loser, No Ordinary Family, V, and Parenthood were no match for the NCIS franchise: CBS won Tuesday in adults 18-49 (3.2 rating/9 share) and viewers (16.5 million), thanks to those men and women from NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. Granted, both dramas were down (NCIS earned a  4.1/11, down 9 percent, while LA earned a 3.3/9, down 11 percent), but the network still ruled in most key demos for the night. Each 18-49 ratings point equals 1.3 million.

The Good Wife only did so-so ratings, earning a 2.1/6 in the demo — which ties it with its season low. READ FULL STORY »

'Modern Family' tops 'Glee' in viewers 18-49 after DVR ratings added in week 9

Modern Family has something to be very gleeful about in week 9 of the television season. After DVR ratings were factored in, the ABC comedy surpassed Glee‘s ratings among viewers 18-49 during the week ending Nov. 21, making it the No. 1 scripted show in that demographic with 6.3 million. Glee, meanwhile, stood strong with 6.2 million viewers in the demo, and Grey’s Anatomy rounded out the top three with 5.8 million.

Here’s a look at the top ten in overall DVR viewers:

1) Hawaii Five-0 (CBS): 3.21 million gained from DVRs*
2) Modern Family (ABC): 3.14 million
3) Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): 2.94 million
4) The Mentalist (CBS): 2.83 million
5) Glee (FOX): 2.68 million
6) NCIS (CBS): 2.54 million
7) Castle (ABC): 2.51 million
8 ) Criminal Minds (CBS): 2.44 million
9) The Good Wife (CBS): 2.37 million
10) House (FOX): 2.35 million

* DVR playback is measured by the number of viewers who watch their recordings within seven days of the show’s airing
