Taylor Swift says 'I do' to 'New Girl' -- EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK

Who’s that girl? It’s Swift!

For New Girl‘s relationship-centric May 14 finale, who better to cameo as a wedding guest than Taylor Swift (right, with star Zooey Deschanel) — the music megastar who wrote the (song)book on love, break-ups, and everything in between? Swift cameos as a woman named Elaine. Though showrunner Liz Meriwether remains coy about what exactly brings Elaine to the nuptials of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), she admits the casting was no coincidence. “I’m a huge fan of hers,” she says. “I was fully geeking out about meeting [Taylor]. I didn’t go to meet her right away because I kind of had to compose myself — there’s a 14-year-old girl inside of me.” Apparently the feeling was mutual, Meriwether recalls: “She was quoting lines to us from the show. It was a really exciting night.” READ FULL STORY »

InsideTV Podcast: Michael from 'Survivor' compares Phillip to Kim Jong-il. Plus: 'Mad Men,' 'New Girl,' 'The Voice'

He was best known as “My Gay” or “The Gay” during his run on Survivor: Caramoan — Fans vs. Favorites, but the man actually does have a name, and the name is Michael Snow. Michael was voted out of the game last night after the Favorites got cold feet about their plan to take out Malcolm so targeted the New Yorker instead.

Now, Michael calls into the InsideTV Podcast to talk all about his time on the island. How does he feel about Corinne’s comments about him? What other moves did he try to make to stick around longer? Why was he the only person out there who did not trust Dawn? And what’s the one thing he would change about his game if he could go back and do it over again. Michael reveals all, while also naming Phillip as his least favorite Favorite and comparing the Specialist to another unpopular leader, Kim Jong-iL. To hear it all for yourself just click on the audio player below! (The Survivor discussion and interview begins at 16:25.)

But first, we check in on a trio of other shows. Jessica Shaw loved the Mad Men season premiere while I was a bit lukewarm on it. We discuss and debate what works best on the AMC drama and where this season may be headed. Then, we’ve always worried about anything involving Winston on New Girl, but now we’re concerned with the charade of a Cece wedding storyline currently taking place — especially when we both agree there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that she will end up actually getting married. Has New Girl hit a bit of a rocky patch, and what can the show do to get out of it? (The New Girl chat begins at 6:30.)

Finally, we weigh in on the new coaches on The Voice. Has the show traded up or down with the switch from Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green to Shakira and Usher? I have some definite opinions about this Aguilera-less season of the NBC hit. (The Voice talk starts at 11:00.) READ FULL STORY »

'New Girl': Hannah Simone on 'Bachelorette Party,' Cece's 'wild and crazy' season finale

Hannah-Simone.jpg

After two seasons playing sharp-tongued, side-eye-slinging model Cece on New Girl, Hannah Simone has been a snarky foil for best friend Jess (Zooey Deschanel). But as Jess got saucy planning Cece’s sudden bachelorette party last night, Cece softened up. Weeks away from an arranged marriage to her perfect-on-paper Indian fiancé Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), Cece copped to insecurities about her engagement that will impact the rest of the season — and maybe even gave shippers a glint of hope that the loft’s lovable douchebag Schmidt (Max Greenfield) still has a shot with his model love.

In a recent chat with EW, Simone broke down the cases for (and against) Shiv and Schmidt, shared her reaction to finally finding out Cece’s decision, and discussed a sexy new campaign she’s joined (Schmidt would definitely approve). READ FULL STORY »

'New Girl' throws Cece a bachelorette party: 'Oil up or get out, guys!' -- FIRST LOOK VIDEOS

Shippers may still be reeling over New Girl‘s Cece (Hannah Simone) forsaking Schmidt (Max Greenfield) to walk down the aisle with her Indian beau Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), but the model herself is ready to party in Tuesday night’s episode. In an exclusive preview clip, Simone spills the dirt on the surprise bachelorette party Jess (Zooey Deschanel) throws Cece — not to mention all the phallic decorations, revelations, and staged abductions that follow. Watch it after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

'New Girl': Meet Nick's family! Jess will certainly have to... -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

new-girl-jess

New Girl fans have relished putting together the puzzle that is Nick Miller, TV’s most lovable thirtysomething curmudgeon. Back in January, the episode ”A Father’s Love” introduced one piece in the form of Nick’s scamming dad Walt (Dennis Farina). This Tuesday, an unexpected trip to Chicago offers a few more: Nick’s mother Bonnie (Margo Martindale), brother Jamie (Nick Kroll), and cousin Bobby (Bill Burr). The reasons that force Nick and the roommates to visit the Windy City may be dramatic, but the results are nothing short of hilarious.

In an exclusive video, Martindale and Kroll join Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, to tease “Chicago.” As for how star Zooey Deschanel ends up in an Elvis jumpsuit — and what the meet-not-so-cute between Nick’s family and Jess (Deschanel) could mean for the roomfriends’ relationship… well you’ll just have to watch below to find out. Good day, Roomies!

Hope the world is treating you well. I certainly can’t complain. In the last week since we’ve touched base, I’m settled into my new L.A.-based digs, mourned the loss of my access to solid public transportation and purchased a car, and started a Fund the Veronica Mars movie piggy bank. Very busy, as you can see. But that brings me to the highlight of my week: Giving y’all scoop on the cool stuff coming up on your favorite shows.

Check out this week’s offerings below, and if you have a question, don’t hesitate to ask! SpoilerRoom@ew.com or on Twitter: @EWSandraG.

‘ARROW’ FINALE DISH

How great was Arrow’s Paley panel this weekend? (If you missed it, you suck. Kidding! You can watch it here.) But before the event, Spoiler Room hit the red carpet for some scoop on the finale that executive producer Marc Guggenheim says will find the conflict between Arrow/Oliver (Stephen Amell) and John Barrowman’s Merlyn coming to a big climax. 'New Girl': Dylan O'Brien of 'Teen Wolf' to guest as Jess' prom date

Dylan-O-Brien

New Girl fans will soon see Jess (Zooey Deschanel) go to prom, and she might be doing it with style. Or should we say, with Stiles. Dylan O’Brien, who stars as Stiles on MTV’s Teen Wolf, will guest-star in an upcoming episode of the Fox comedy, the network has confirmed. (TVGuide.com first reported the news.) In the installment, flashbacks will reveal how our main characters lost their virginity, and in Jess’ storyline, she attends prom with a sensitive, guitar-playing dreamboat (O’Brien) who aims to make her first time something to remember. PaleyFest 2013: 'New Girl' cast on alter-egos and the future of Nick and Jess

Nick and Jess kissed over a month ago, or, in television time, four episodes ago. But don’t worry… we found out Monday night at the New Girl PaleyFest panel that it’s still the thing that everyone wants to talk about. Both the discussion and the sneak peek of next week’s new episode, ”Quick Hardening Caulk,” proved that the kiss was anything but old news.

Even though conversation kept coming back to The Kiss — and what it meant, and what it will mean, and how long they were planning it — the cast and producers did touch on a few other subjects, including Cece’s sudden engagement, the group’s upcoming trip to Chicago, and the mystery behind Schmidt’s first name. The energy between the cast and producers was infectious, and you almost wished that the series creator Elizabeth Meriwether could give herself a role on the show too. Jake Johnson even sang the theme song for the audience, after Zooey Deschanel declined.

Click past the jump for the top five takeaways from the New Girl panel.

Fox moves 'New Girl' and 'The Mindy Project' to Thursday for one week

New-Girl

Come April 2, when a new episode of New Girl is M.I.A. on your TV, don’t start thinking you’re the victim of a cruel belated April Fools joke. For just that week, Fox will air the Zooey Deschanel-led comedy on Thursday instead of in its regular Tuesday time slot, the network announced today.

The Mindy Project will also air a new episode on Thursday, April 4, though its April 2 episode will also be new (what a great week for Mindy Kaling fans – two new episodes in one week!). A rerun of New Girl will air in the show’s typical Tuesday 9 p.m. slot that week. READ FULL STORY »
