A certain New Girl is about to become Steve’s dream girl, as Zooey Deschanel lends her voice and quirky sensibilities to this week’s installment of American Dad. In an episode that sends up a few indie film conventions, Steve and his pals take Snot on a cross-country road trip to attend the funeral of his father. Steve, however, gets sidetracked when he meets an indie-cool chick (Deschanel) who believes that mustaches are t-shirts for lips. Click on the video below to watch Steve try to cozy up to his wonder woman in a hot tub. READ FULL STORY

After the messy breakup between Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone), it was only a matter of time before one of them dipped a toe back into the dating pool. But who would have imagined Cece would be the first? (Especially considering she didn’t touch a comb for weeks after getting cheated on by the loft’s own douchebag supreme — and she’s a model!) More to the point, who would have guessed Cece’s return to the dating world would be with another loftmate?
Well, whether you hoped/guessed/nightmare-prophesied this possibility or not, Cece is indeed going out on a date with Coach in tonight’s New Girl. It’s worth pointing out, though, that the episode’s title, “Longest Night Ever,” doesn’t bode well for the pair — it also seems likely to be referring to Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) attempt to keep Schmidt occupied during the possible hook-up between her bestie and Coach.
As for the date itself, check out this exclusive First Look featurette about what goes down, with commentary from Simone, Wayans, Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris — whose Winston is also looking for love on this particular “Night” (you’ll have to watch the ep for more on that development). Click through to find out where Coach takes Cece for their romantic rendezvous… and how Schmidt reacts to the news that his ex might be moving on with his buddy.

Damon Wayans Jr. is going to keep coaching Fox’s New Girl gang.
The comic-actor will continue his role of “Coach” as a special guest star for the rest of the season.
Wayans was originally cast in the Fox comedy series’ pilot, but could not continue on the show due to his role on ABC’s Happy Endings. Once Happy Endings was axed, New Girl brought him back for a recurring guest arc for four episodes, which just started last night. Ratings were up 11 percent from the show’s last original episode a couple weeks ago. Now he’s made a deal to continue in his current role for the rest of season three. See EW’s recap of last night’s episode for more info about how he impacts the show.
The weeks since New Girl‘s Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) broke up have not been kind. When we pick back up in the Halloween-themed episode, “Keaton,” the former fat kid is mainlining mayonnaise, and the despondent model looks like Friends‘ Dirty Girl Cheryl has taken over her apartment.
Still basking in their coupled-up bliss, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) decide to cheer up their pals with a costume party and… Michael Keaton? So how exactly does the titular Batman star get roped into the loftmates’ shenanigans? And how will bitter exes Schmidt and Cece react when they see each other for the first time since their split? Find out the exclusive clip below. READ FULL STORY
Andy Samberg’s Fox comedy is getting a full season — and another big boost.
Fox has picked up another nine episodes of Tuesday comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Brooklyn has also scored TV’s biggest promotional opportunity: a post-Super Bowl slot.
Brooklyn will join New Girl in a one-hour special comedy block airing after the big game. (New Girl was previously announced, and is still currently expected to air first.) “It’s exciting to see that both critics and fans love Brooklyn Nine-Nine as much as we do,” said Fox entertainment chairman Reilly. “With Andy and Andre [Braugher] out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time.” READ FULL STORY
Jess and Nick may have driven to Mexico and back since season 3 began, but that doesn’t mean all the great times that brought them together should be left in the rearview. As New Girl: The Complete Second Season comes out on DVD and Blu-ray today, EW can exclusively offer up an outtake from “Cooler” that shows the whole gang rockin’ the game of True American that led to THAT KISS. Who knew the country’s favorite rule-free drinking game had a theme song? Ringtone, please!
After that, just for funsies, check out the official “Full of Schmidt” reel of Max Greenfield’s best moments as the loft’s favorite former heavyweight. From this one-minute supercut alone, there have to be enough Douchebag Jar contributions to buy a lifetime supply of shower gelato. Watch below. READ FULL STORY
Tonight’s New Girl is technically entitled “Nerd,” but Schmidt’s subplot should probably be called “Playa.” The show’s resident douchebag (Max Greenfield) has been juggling two ladies since the season 2 finale and, as we saw in last week’s premiere, he’s not ready to give either of them their walking papers. Of course, shenanigans ensue, including Schmidt getting roped into inviting both Cece (Hannah Simone) and Elizabeth (awesome-speech-giving Emmy winner Merritt Wever) to an upcoming office party — you know, because those things aren’t awkward enough.
Will Schmidt finally crack under the pressure, or will he keep his love triangle going yet another week? Watch the exclusive First Look below for clues…

New Girl returns with a new season tonight in which — oddly — everything and nothing has changed.
The big changes: Nick and Jess will be a couple this season, a move that’s met with mixed reactions from others in the loft. The big non-changes? We’re in for fun adventures, great guest stars and general hilarity. For the details, courtesy of star Zooey Deschanel and exec producer Liz Meriwether, read on…

As New Girl‘s third season kicks off, all the loftmates are involved in passionate affairs: Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) with each other, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) with both Cece (Hannah Simone) and Elizabeth (Merritt Wever), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) with… a puzzle.
A new behind-the-scenes video shows the whole gang picking up “exactly where [the finale] left off,” as Deschanel teases. Roomfriends Nick and Jess have driven into the night — and off to Mexico, where their budding courtship is, predictably, not all wine and roses. As resort-crashing and scavenged umbrella cocktails? New Girl‘s got you covered!
Meanwhile, Schmidt isn’t exactly happy about his roommates’ new relationship, but he’s got bigger fish to fry since he still can’t make a decision between his two big-love exes. Rounding things out, Winston has gotten really into jigsaw puzzles — like, composing-an-impromptu-puzzling-theme-song-into-them. Nice to know the blood loss from that badger bite isn’t affecting his mental acuity.
Check out the exclusive video below to hear Winston’s original composition, see several steamy Jess-Nick kisses, and get the inside scoop from the cast members themselves.
Tonight’s episode of Entertainment Weekly and Sundance Channel’s series The Writer’s Room sits down with New Girl creator Liz Meriwether, star Jake Johnson, and executive producers Brett Baer and Dave Finkel.
Talking about the first kiss between Nick (Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) in Jan. 29 episode, “Cooler,” Meriwether says, “We wanted it to be messy,” and Johnson himself admits that he was surprised the two characters’ showmance heated up as quickly as it did. But which of the loftmates was originally slated to kiss Jess at the end of a drunken night of True American? Find out in the video below! READ FULL STORY
