'New Girl': Adam Brody on playing one of Jess' 'Exes' -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

Fresh off the steam of New Girl‘s most-watched ever post-Super Bowl episode featuring Prince, the show is back with another high-profile guest star. In addition to the always welcome return of Nick’s former live-in love Caroline (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), “Exes” also introduces Jess’ old beau Berkley (Adam Brody).

In an exclusive First Look at tonight’s installment, the O.G. O.C. geek crush talks about his hippie-dippie stay-at-home dad character, who at first appears to have remained besties with Jess (watch out for granolicious inside jokes!). But, as much as Brody himself had an easy time filming with stars Zooey Deschanel and Jake Johnson, the end of the clip shows a touch of friction that implies things don’t quite go according to the adorkable plan. Check it out below, then begin your rampant speculation! READ FULL STORY

'New Girl' Super Bowl episode: Jake Johnson on supermodels, a baseball All-Star, and Prince! -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

After the pigskin comes the purple velvet.

As we previously reported, Prince is hosting a shindig Sunday night, and the New Girl gang is (mostly) invited! Jake Johnson, who plays Nick, talked with EW about the Artist Once Again Known As Prince, promising he will play a central role in another step forward for live-in lovahs Nick and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) — and that’s before the guest headliner performs a new original song to close out the episode.

Meanwhile, L.A. Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw and Victoria’s Secret models Alessandra Ambrosio and Ana Beatriz Barros also show up for a house party that leaves any bash from 1999 in its dust. Let’s go crazy, shall we? Click through for your exclusive First Look at the loftmates’ epic evening. READ FULL STORY

'New Girl' sued for copyright infringement

Fox’s New Girl is being accused of plagiarism, EW has confirmed.

According to court papers filed Jan. 16, Stephanie Counts and Shari Gold are suing New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Peter Chernin, Jacob Kasdan, and Twenty-First Century Fox for copyright infringement.

In the lawsuit, which EW has obtained, Counts and Gold allege that prior to New Girl, they had a script for a pilot for their show hopeful Square One, which was met with favorable interest in the industry, but they weren’t able to make a deal. They worked on this from 2006-2011. Once New Girl aired, Counts and Gold hired a lawyer. Fox allegedly made the writers a $10,000 settlement offer, but they refused the money. (UPDATE: A rep for New Girl tells EW the network and studio have no comment.) READ FULL STORY

'New Girl': Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris talk Prince's guest spot, Winston's new job -- VIDEO

There’s a lot of fun on the horizon for the gang on New Girl, and EW has the scoop from stars Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris.

In the video below, the duo teases an “awesome” guest spot from musical icon Prince, which will take place in the episode that airs after the Super Bowl, and talk about what’s coming up in the professional lives of their characters. As you’ll recall, Cece recently took up a job at Nick’s bar and if she’s half as good at that as Simone is at bouncing a balloon — which both actors did as part of EW’s Ultimate Balloon Challenge — she’s in good shape. (Spoiler Alert: Simone reveals Cece will likely continue to underwhelm at the bar.) Meanwhile, Morris teases a new career path for Winston that he detects we’re going to enjoy.

'New Girl': Linda Cardellini to guest as Jess' sister

'New Girl': Coach and Cece, it's a date! -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

After the messy breakup between Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone), it was only a matter of time before one of them dipped a toe back into the dating pool. But who would have imagined Cece would be the first? (Especially considering she didn’t touch a comb for weeks after getting cheated on by the loft’s own douchebag supreme — and she’s a model!) More to the point, who would have guessed Cece’s return to the dating world would be with another loftmate?

Well, whether you hoped/guessed/nightmare-prophesied this possibility or not, Cece is indeed going out on a date with Coach in tonight’s New Girl. It’s worth pointing out, though, that the episode’s title, “Longest Night Ever,” doesn’t bode well for the pair — it also seems likely to be referring to Jess’ (Zooey Deschanel) attempt to keep Schmidt occupied during the possible hook-up between her bestie and Coach.

As for the date itself, check out this exclusive First Look featurette about what goes down, with commentary from Simone, Wayans, Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris — whose Winston is also looking for love on this particular “Night” (you’ll have to watch the ep for more on that development). Click through to find out where Coach takes Cece for their romantic rendezvous… and how Schmidt reacts to the news that his ex might be moving on with his buddy.

'New Girl' scoop: Damon Wayans Jr. commits to whole season

Damon-Wayans-New-Girl.jpg

Damon Wayans Jr. is going to keep coaching Fox’s New Girl gang.

The comic-actor will continue his role of “Coach” as a special guest star for the rest of the season.

Wayans was originally cast in the Fox comedy series’ pilot, but could not continue on the show due to his role on ABC’s Happy Endings. Once Happy Endings was axed, New Girl brought him back for a recurring guest arc for four episodes, which just started last night. Ratings were up 11 percent from the show’s last original episode a couple weeks ago. Now he’s made a deal to continue in his current role for the rest of season three. See EW’s recap of last night’s episode for more info about how he impacts the show.

'New Girl': Schmidt and Cece reunite(!)... just not on purpose -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

The weeks since New Girl‘s Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) broke up have not been kind. When we pick back up in the Halloween-themed episode, “Keaton,” the former fat kid is mainlining mayonnaise, and the despondent model looks like Friends‘ Dirty Girl Cheryl has taken over her apartment.

Still basking in their coupled-up bliss, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) decide to cheer up their pals with a costume party and… Michael Keaton? So how exactly does the titular Batman star get roped into the loftmates’ shenanigans? And how will bitter exes Schmidt and Cece react when they see each other for the first time since their split? Find out the exclusive clip below. READ FULL STORY

A Salt & Bat-ery: 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and 'New Girl' do Halloween -- EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK

Fox is serving up ghoulish giggles Tuesday night with an hour of Halloween-themed episodes. Starting at 8:30 p.m. ET, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is first up to bat — just not in the same way as New Girl‘s Jess (Zooey Deschanel, as seen above right) — following Brooklyn‘s police patrolmen and -women as they risk life, limb, and every shred of dignity in donning costumes for an undercover assignment.

After that, New Girl‘s loftmates try to cheer up Schmidt (Max Greenfield), who’s still contending with the guilt and consequences of his cheating streak from earlier this season, while Jess throws a party to reconnect with BFF/spurned Schmidt ex Cece (Hannah Simone). Given Schmidt’s dogged attempts to break up Jess and Nick (Jake Johnson) two weeks ago, you’d think a snake would be a fitting costume… but it seems the (sometimes) loveable douchebag has opted for a different kind of reptile. Also: Who is surprised that slacker soul mates Nick and Brooklyn‘s Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) have opted for similar-looking costumes? Answer: No one.
