The CW renews 'Supernatural,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Gossip Girl' and two more!

The CW just announced early renewals of five shows for next season. Ready?

Gossip Girl, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and 90210 are all coming back, along with a first-ever all-star edition of America’s Next Top Model.

All will return next fall. None are huge surprises — Vampire Diaries is the network’s biggest hit, Gossip and 90210 are solid-ish and Friday’s Supernatural has helped keep the network strong on TV’s toughest night. Doing an all-star edition of veteran Top Model also makes sense as a way to potentially boost its numbers after 16 cycles. As for the shows that were not renewed… READ FULL STORY

Happy Tuesday, all! I come with freshly picked intel, completely pesticide free.

BIG CHANGES COMING TO ‘BEING HUMAN’
Holy cow, Humans! Last night’s penultimate episode of Being Human on Syfy not only included a few nail-biting cliffhangers (Please don’t die, Aidan!), but it also left us on a great note going into the season 1 finale. Lucky for you, Sam Witwer spilled many a secrets about next week’s wicked finale to help ease the pain of the wait.

“There are actually a few cliffhangers, and there are a few provocative questions, primarily with Josh and Aidan,” Witwer says. And some of those new questions are likely to be raised in the flashback scene to two years ago that “explains something that Josh did earlier this season,” Witwer teases. “There’s a vengeful move that Josh does at the urging of [Josh’s jerk were-buddy] Ray. We learn a little bit more about why he did that. And we’re also catching Aidan right as he’s about to pull away from the vampires; he’s already starting to feel quite alone and isolated. So that, more than anything, allows him to identify Josh as someone else who has the same problem.” READ FULL STORY

FRINGE: EPS TEASE TRIPPIEST EPISODE SINCE ‘BROWN BETTY’
Full disclosure: I was originally going to preview tonight’s episode of Fringe for you, but honestly, I’m in such a pleasant mood over the renewal that I say we move on to bigger matters, like episode 19, airing April 15.

Before the big news, Jeff Pinkner and Joel H. Wyman hopped on the phone with me to tease an episode I’ve been dying to know more about ever since I heard a rumor that it would be Astrid-centered, which, it turns out, isn’t entirely the case. Oh, I’ll just let them explain. READ FULL STORY

'Nikita' co-star Melinda Clarke: Impact of tonight's 'Inception'-esque episode 'might even be bigger than Thom dying'

Melinda-ClarkeImage Credit: Jan Thijs/The CWIf you’ve seen the previews for tonight’s episode of The CW’s Nikita, you know that Division’s resident master manipulator Amanda (Melinda Clarke) is once again getting her torture on. Only this time, she’s playing mind games.

At the end of last week’s episode, we saw Alex being taken to Division HQ for what Clarke calls “[Amanda's] version of rehab” (a.k.a.: complete horror).

“Amanda puts her under her own kind of truth serum, and it’s a drug called Ibogaine, and I’ve been told that it’s a real drug; that it’s a hallucinogen,” Clarke tells EW. “People experience a sort of waking dream state, so it’s our version of Inception, I guess. At this point, Alex is in danger of revealing her secret, because the audience knows ow that she’s a Russian princess and that could be very damaging. If Amanda ever knew anything about that, she’d be dead on the spot, of course. So in this situation she’s pretty obsessed with getting what she needs to know out of Alex’s brain.” READ FULL STORY

'Nikita' co-star on second season chances: 'We have pretty intense and loyal fans'

NikitaImage Credit: Ben Mark Holzberg/The CWMost TV actors try to remain optimistic if and when the subject turns to the return of their shows. But in the case of Melinda Clarke — who plays Amanda on the CW’s freshman series Nikita – we’re going to hope she’s speaking with authority when saying the future looks good for the Maggie Q actioner.

“From what I hear, the buzz is that we’ll be fortunate enough to have another season,” Clarke tells EW. “I think we’ve got some great fans out there, a good fan base. I know internationally people are really excited about it. We’re on the CW, and of course, that’s a smaller network as far as how many viewers. But we have some pretty intense and loyal fans. So, I think it’s very likely that we’ll be picked up. I mean, anything can happen in this industry, but I think fans will get another season out of it.”

For what its worth, there haven’t been early pickups for any of the CW shows. Do you think Nikita deserves another year to kick ass? – With additional reporting from Sandra Gonzalez

'Gossip Girl,' 'Good Wife,' 'Supernatural': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Spoiler-RoomImage Credit: John Paul Filo/CBS; Giovanni Rufino/The CW; Jordan Nuttal/The CW; Adam Taylor/CBSWhat is it about Leighton Meester that makes her so incredibly pair-able with others? Whether she’s standing beside Chuck or Dan (or Minka Kelly, for that matter), she simply oozes chemistry. Well, whatever “it” is, it makes for great TV (and perhaps also movies that you really want to see despite a fear of losing self respect). This week, I talked chemistry and more with Blair Waldorf’s amazing puppetmasters, Stephanie Savage and Josh Safran, who dish about what we can expect next from our favorite schemer and the rest of the gang. I also spoke with Matt Czuchry (insert tiny cartoon hearts here) about The Good Wife, dug up some dirt on Supernatural‘s (now postponed) return, spoke with Rachelle Lefevre about Off the Map, and much more.
