Question: What’s going on with Katherine Heigl? Is she ever going to be returning to Grey’s Anatomy? —Hannah
Ausiello:
Last I heard, she’s due back on the Grey’s set at the end of the month, which means we probably won’t see Izzie again until late April. Coincidentally, that’s right around the time a very special patient will be checking into Seattle Grace: Alex’s brother! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Grey’s is currently casting the role of Karev’s estranged sibling. For those keeping score at home, this will be our first time meeting a member of Karev’s troubled clan. Look for bro to dredge up a lot of ugly family history, including that nasty business about daddy beating mommy.

Question: What’s up with the Mercy West residents on Grey’s Anatomy? Will they be sticking around next season? —PT
Ausiello:
I’m fairly certain one of them won’t be. A reliable source tells me that one of the four has received his/her walking papers and will exit the show before the end of the season. Guesses? Scroll down to the comments! READ FULL STORY

Question: You’re blaming the late arrival of Ask Ausiello on the blizzard? Lame. But I’ll forgive you if you give me a really juicy Lost spoiler. —Jesse
Ausiello:
Would you believe me if I told you my laptop got stuck in a 5-foot snowdrift? No? Okay, I’ll think of something else. In the meantime, here’s your juicy Lost spoiler: Someone has a kid in their flash-sideways. Guesses? Head to the comments!

Question: What can you tell me about Libby’s Lost return? —Joe
Ausiello:
I can’t tell you very much. Cynthia Watros, however, describes her onscreen reunion with Jorge Garcia as “so sweet and honest. And I think, hopefully, when people see our scenes that they’ll get that feeling, too. [Libby and Hurley] are so incredibly real with each other. I was really grateful that I got to play those scenes and Libby got to sort of express herself in ways that she hasn’t been able to.” READ FULL STORY

'Nip/Tuck' exclusive: The real story behind last night's big twist

In the final minutes of last night’s Nip/Tuck, Kimber took a suicidal dive into the ocean, leaving her fate uncertain. Will she be picked up by a fishing boat? Wake up and ask for a margarita? Or is our favorite dysfunctional bombshell really a goner? SPOILER ALERT: She’s dead. The first step in the grieving process is denial. The second is reading a Q&A with the dearly departed character’s portrayer — in this case, Kelly Carlson. The actress dished to EW.com’s Sandra Gonzalez exclusive deets about Kimber’s death, TV mom Melanie Griffith, and the end of Nip/Tuck. READ FULL STORY

Question: How about you try something new in Ask Ausiello this week and talk about Lost. Remember that show? —Eddie
Ausiello:
Hmmm… I think that’s the show I just got some exclusive casting news on. According to a well-placed insider, Fisher Stevens will resurface this season as the late George Minkowski. That’s the show you’re talking about, right?

Question: I’m literally dying for True Blood news. Please save me from dying a slow, painful death. —Demi
Ausiello:
Your life-saving scoop has arrived! It’ll take three villains to replace last season’s one Big Bad, Maryann. “We have a triumvirate of evil this season,” reveals exec producer Alan Ball. “I’m talking about Franklin Mott, Russell Edgington, and Debbie Pelt. They are all bad to the bone. They’re not just crazy, they’re evil.” Speaking of the yet-to-be-cast Debbie Pelt, Ball tells me that Alcide’s psycho ex will actually have a bigger role than first thought. “We actually beefed up Debbie,” he says. “She’s going to be in more episodes, so maybe that will have an impact on [what actress] we can get for her, which is a big question right now.” READ FULL STORY

Question: What’s coming up for Sam and Addison on Private Practice? —Lisa
Ausiello:
Things will heat up between those two crazy kids in February, but their guilty consciences will prove a major obstacle. There will also be an added complication involving (MAJOR SPOILER ALERT) another doctor who has long been waiting in the wings.

Question: I am drinking a Diet Raspberry Snapple and thinking of you (in a non-stalker sort of way) and am hoping you might give me some Grey’s Anatomy scoop! —Lesley
Ausiello:
Mexie is M’over. The lovers will break things off this week, but it doesn’t really become official until next week when word of their respective dalliances comes to light. Interestingly, someone’s not as pissed off as I would’ve thought. READ FULL STORY

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Ugly Betty,' 'House,' 'Scrubs,' 'CSI: Miami,' '24,' and more!

House-Ugly-Betty-Ausiello_l Question: Will Daniel Eric Gold, who plays Betty ex-BF/boss Matt, be returning to Ugly Betty next season? –Janeen
Ausiello:
Not only is he returning, but sources confirm to me
exclusively that he’s been promoted to a full-fledged series regular! But don’t take that to mean Matt and Betty will reunite and live happily ever after. In fact, I hear Betty producers are already cooking up a fresh obstacle for the pair, and rumor has it they want him to be lovable and blue collarish. (Think Seth Rogen, only much cheaper.)

Question: Doesn’t Scrubs‘ surprise renewal present a challenge for producers? I mean, last month’s finale already showed us what happens to J.D., Elliott, and Co. in the future! –Sydney
Ausiello:
I posed that exact question to Bill Lawrence last week. Here’s what he said: “[The flash-forward epilogue] just showed J.D. and Elliott together, and I’ll stay true to that. Those two will still be together. But [next season] won’t be about tracing that relationship… There’s no possible way the show will succeed if it’s just more trials and tribulations of J.D. Zach is basically doing [an arc] to help us transition to a new show. It’s like if Hawkeye had done AfterMASH.” (Click here to see what Scrubs will be about next season.)

Question: Thoughts on Lauren Graham possibly joining Scrubs? –Shelly
Ausiello:
Shhhh…you’re gonna jinx it!

Question: Any House scoop, other than the prolongation of Huddy after House leaves the loony bin? Translation: Why should non-Huddy fans tune in to House next season? –Luke
Ausiello:
Because the Princeton Plainsboro that House left in the season finale will not be the same one he returns to next fall. And admit it, you’re dying to know how it’ll be different. “How [the hospital] works when he comes back will be different,” teases exec producer Katie Jacobs. “A doctor can’t check into a mental institution and just walk back into his job like nothing happened. We will not start forsaking reality. This [story] will have consequences.”

Question: How much of Cameron and Chase’s home life will we see next season on House? –Diane
Ausiello:
Not much, according to Katie Jacobs. “I don’t know that we will show any more of their private lives than we have anyone else’s. The hospital stuff is first and foremost for us and everything we show furthers those story lines. I don’t think lovey-dovey, at-home relations is what people watch our show for.”

Question: As a huge Friday Night Lights fan, I absolutely loved your interview with Connie Britton. Is there any more news on who will be coming back next season? I live in Austin, and need to know who to be looking out for around town come September. –Amanda
Ausiello:
In addition to Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, full-time returnees include Jesse Plemons, Taylor Kitsch, Aimee Teegarden, and Jeremy Sumpter. Adrianne Palicki, Minka Kelly, and Zach Gilford will likely be back for short-term farewell arcs.

Question: You don’t talk much about Raising the Bar. –Ben
Ausiello:
I was waiting for someone to finally ask me about it! Producers are adding a young, idealistic female lawyer to the cast in a recurring capacity.

Question: Any idea who The Tudors will cast to play Henry’s final wife, Catherine Parr? –Chris
Ausiello:
I only know who was at the top of their wish list: Gillian freakin’ Anderson! Sadly, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Question: CSI: Miami scoop? Please tell me Delko survives. –Jennifer
Ausiello:
Sources confirm that Adam Rodriguez will be back next season, so, yeah, I think it’s safe to say Delko survives. Meanwhile, we caught up with Rodriguez’s former costar, Rory Cochrane, at the premiere of his new film, Public Enemies, and asked him whether another Speedle cameo was in his future. His answer was, um, interesting. “I can’t really talk about it,” he said. “They talked to me about something that I cannot get into details about… I did come back once as a figment of Delko’s imagination, but I am pretty sure that is it for me on that show. I told them not to kill me but they didn’t take my advice.”

Question: I’m not happy that Bryan Fuller has left Heroes again. Remind me again why I should even bother watching next season? –Tricia
Ausiello:
Because my good pal Greg Grunberg wouldn’t lie to you. Shortly after news of Fuller’s exit broke, Grunberg reassured fans via Twitter that the scribe is “leaving [Heroes] in great hands… the scripts for season 4 and the stories we’re about to tell will ROCK YOUR WORLD. BEST. SEASON. EVER.” Plus, if you quit watching now you won’t get to see a miniature version of Adrian Pasdar! My Heroes mole reports that the show is looking for a young actor to play an 11-year-old Nathan.

Question: Any goodies on the new season of Leverage for Parker and Eliot fans? –Kelly
Ausiello:
If by “goodies” you mean “romance,” the answer is no — at least not in the season 2 opener. That’s not to say the July 15 premiere is devoid of action, though. The hour includes a car explosion, multiple gunshots, and a bone-crushing fight scene. And it definitely ends with a bang, er, three. Expect one character to get shot with not one or two, but three, bullets lodged in their chest.

Question: Is Jennie Garth going to appear in any episodes of 90210 next season? –Emil
Ausiello:
There’s nothing on the books yet, but a rep for the show says “the intention is to have Jennie back next season.” In other 90210 news, former Law & Order ADA Elisabeth Rohm will guest-star as a robot bitchy socialite who locks horns with Naomi in at least one episode.

Question: I just read that Nip/Tuck wrapped production on its series finale on June 12. Got any spoilers on how it’ll end? –Bernd
Ausiello:
I’m hearing that someone will get left at the altar.

Question: Can we get an update on Noah Wyle’s negotiations to star in Steven Spielberg’s new alien invasion pilot for TNT? –Kelly
Ausiello:
Sure can: He’s definitely doing it!

Question: There’s a new season of Entourage right around the corner. Have you seen any of the new episodes? –Jonathan
Ausiello:
Just screened the July 12 season premiere last night and I’m pleased to report that it focuses almost entirely on my favorite couple: Ari and Lloyd. Basically, Lloyd wants a promotion and Ari is having none of it

Question: So does Ethan become the Vice President of 24 next season? Or maybe the new First Gentleman? –Chris
Ausiello:
You’re wrong on both counts. According to an aide close to President Taylor, who asked not to be identified because he/she could get fired for talking to me, Ethan will be appointed the new ********* ** *****.

Question: Here’s a question: What the heck has the awesome Melinda Clarke been up to? –Tammy
Ausiello:
Big scoop: She’s starring in a new TV series as a housewife by day and a spy by night. Unfortunately, the show isn’t real; it’s part of an upcoming Entourage subplot.

Breaking: Famke Janssen returning to 'Nip/Tuck'

Niptuckfamke_l
Nip/Tuck
‘s “Hope Diamond of transsexuals” is back!

Famke Janssen has cut a deal to reprise her role as gender-bending sociopath Ava Moore for the FX drama’s seventh and final season, series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed via the show’s online fan forum.

“Just finished the last [Nip/Tuck] script today — the 100th episode,” Murphy wrote. “The end. Very strange. But I thought I would confirm something here on the forum, since you’ve all been so great and loyal: Ava Moore (Famke!) returns for the final two episodes.”

Ava, arguably one of the show’s most memorable characters ever, was last seen jetting off to Paris shortly after completing her final gender reassignment surgery at the end of season 2.

FX has yet to set a date for Nip/Tuck‘s seventh season. Heck, they still haven’t announced when the sixth season will air! The upside? It leaves plenty of time for you guys to weigh in on Janssen’s comeback in the comments section!

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on 'Dollhouse,' '24,' 'Burn Notice,' 'True Blood,' 'Lost,' 'Eureka,' 'Bones,' and more!

Elizasummer_lQuestion: With Sarah Connor Chronicles canceled, please tell me there is a possibility of Summer Glau making an appearance on Dollhouse! –Jenn
Ausiello:
The noise you’re about to hear is the sound of the Whedonverse exploding. Joss confirms to me exclusively that, well, he’s one step ahead of you. "If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto Dollhouse] hasn’t occurred to me already then they have not met me," he says. "I mentioned it to her before [SCC] was canceled. I was like, ‘You know, we should get you in the ‘house.’ But first we have to come up with something that works." And casting her as a doll would not work, insists Whedon. "Summer would be perfect to play an active, but she’s done that [type of role] a lot," he says. "I’d rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who’s good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else. Summer said to me, ‘I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.’" Got any ideas? Head to the comments section!

Question: Since you’ve seen the first four True Blood episodes of season 2, is there anything you can share? –Sanna
Ausiello:
They’re bloody fangtastic! (Never. Gets. Old.) Seriously,
season 2 — premiering June 14 — gets off to a thrilling, gory, scary,
sexy, disgusting, funny, suspenseful start. Alan Ball would drive a
wooden stake through my heart if I spoiled any of the big twists (i.e. my lips are sealed about the fate of a certain flamboyant vampire blood
dealer), but here are a few juicy morsels to whet your appetite:

•    There are three orgies, all of them powered by Maryann’s (Michelle Forbes) aphrodisiac fairy dust.
•    Alexander Skarsgard’s Nordic vamp has an extremely homoerotic
encounter with a character who shall remain nameless. In related news,
there are about two dozen gratuitous shirtless shots in the first four episodes, all of them belonging to either Mechad Brooks (Tara’s new BF, Eggs) or Ryan Kwanten (Jason).
•    Sookie has a very revealing conversation with a new character in episode 4.
•    If you’re wondering what secret Merlotte’s newest waitress (played
by Ashley Jones) is harboring, a clue can be found on her skin.

Question: Got any Dexter casting scoop? Who will be this year’s Jimmy Smits? –Medve
Ausiello:
None other than John Lithgow!

Question: Got anything on 24? –Chris
Ausiello:
Big casting scoop: Freddie Prinze Jr. has been tapped to play CTU’s head of Field Ops. Thoughts?!

Question: Any scooplets on the end of Nip/Tuck? –Ellen
Ausiello:
Patience, Ellen. Patience. Oh, sorry, I meant patients. Among the last
clients looking to go under the knife will be an elderly Holocaust
survivor keeping a nasty secret from his wife and middle-aged daughter,
and a 60-something Asian porn star who wants his open-heart surgery
scar removed before trying to, er, score in the American market.

Question: Any chance Bill Lawrence will keep any of Scrubs‘ new interns around next season? –Joel
Ausiello:
I’m willing to bet he’ll keep at least one. "I really
responded to Eliza Coupe," he tells me. "But there’s nothing set in
stone."

Question: Are you going to post a summer premiere schedule? –Sara
Ausiello:
I have no plans to. Why, did someone tell you otherwise?

Question: In December, Lisa Edelstein was your best supporting actress
in a drama on your Best of ’08 list. So imagine my shock when she
didn’t even make the cut for your Dream Emmy Ballot.  What happened to
the love? –Megan
Ausiello:
Nothing happened to the love, but a lot happened to the
supporting actress category. First and foremost: Chloe Sevigny,
Ginnifer Goodwin, and Connie Britton all decided to enter the supporting
race instead of lead, creating the mother of all logjams. If it’s any
consolation, look at the amazing actresses joining Lisa on my standby
list: Callie Thorne, Amanda Seyfried, Michelle Hicks, Elizabeth
Mitchell, Cherry Jones, Chandra Wilson, and Sandra Oh.

Question: I just finished watching the pilot episode of Glee and it was
amazing! Do you have any info/spoilers about the show that can hold me
over until fall? –Heather
Ausiello:
The club’s token gay (a.k.a. Kurt) gets a love interest in the third episode, but not one he was expecting.

Question: What are the chances you could link to our Save Samantha Who? petition? –Michelle
Ausiello:
I’d say the chances are good.

Question: We’re so close to the new season of Burn Notice. Can we get some info on our favorite ex-spy? –Brad
Ausiello:
Next Thursday’s premiere picks up right where season 2 left off: with Michael up to his neck in the Atlantic Ocean. By the end of the episode, he’s back in hot water. Literally. (I’m talkin’ ’bout the water being on fire!)

Question: Any news on the CW drama Body Politic? Will it be picked up for mid-season? –Corinne
Ausiello:
It won’t. But I keep hearing rumors that one of the show’s
stars may find work on another high-profile CW drama. If it happens,
and all of my sources insist it probably won’t, it would create quite the
hubbubaloo.

Question: This is probably a long shot, but got any Lost scoop? –Jeff
Ausiello:
Yeah, having Lost scoop in late May is about as unlikely as me combing through my old
transcripts and finding an unused Damon Lindelof quote pertaining to
the show’s series finale. OMG, looky here: "We’ve been planning out the
final season for four years now. And of all the talks we have had about
the show, [reuniting all the castaways] is the subject that has come up
the most. The ending was almost where we began, and we had to figure
out how to get there. It’s like a wedding where the reception is the
part that requires the most planning and is the most fun to plan. We’ve
exchanged our vows and I am ready to go party."

Question: You single? You are cute as all get-out! –Bob
Ausiello:
No, but thanks for the perfect segue: Voting for PETA’s annual Sexiest Vegetarian contest ends in the next 24 hours and sources confirm to me
exclusively that I’m getting beat by Joaquin freakin’ Phoenix! What the
hell?! Luckily, there’s still time to prevent this travesty. All you have to do is
click on this link and vote for me. And when you’re done with that,
forward the link to 10 friends and have them vote for me. Then take a 10-minute break and start the process over again. You guys are always talking about wanting to do something positive with your lives. Well, here’s your chance!

Question: Why did The CW kill the Gossip Girl spin-off? –Tammy
Ausiello:
I’m told the higher-ups never embraced the whole ’80s
conceit. I’m also told the reason CW boss Dawn Ostroff stopped short of
declaring the project dead last week was because there’s a chance it could be
reconceived down the road.

Question: Realistically, how many episodes of Lost do you think Elizabeth Mitchell will be in next year? –Derek
Ausiello:
My gut is telling me we’ll see her in two episodes max. But
my gut has been wrong before. Oh, who am I kidding, no, it hasn’t.

Question: Any Eureka scoop? –Paige
Ausiello:
Three of the show’s stars — Joe Morton, Erica Cerra and
Niall Matter — have signed on to guest star on Sci Fi’s new paranormal
series, Warehouse 13, which debuts on July 7. Cerra and Matter will
play small-town thieves who hit the jackpot thanks to a luck-inducing
artifact, while Morton has been cast as a charismatic religious leader
doing time in a Florida prison. Eureka, meanwhile, returns with new episodes three days
later on July 10.

Question: Do you have any scoops on the new season of The Secret Life of The American Teenager? –Laura
Ausiello:
I have a scoop: Brando Eaton (Mental, Bones) has been cast as Ashley’s new gay sidekick, Griffin.

Question: Have you seen the Melrose Place pilot? Thoughts? –Doug
Ausiello:
I thought I would hate it, but I didn’t. It was 10 times
better than the 90210 pilot, that’s for sure. But I’m a sucker for
murder mysteries.

Question: Any more Bones scoop? Pretty please? –Charlee Ann
Ausiello:
Since it doesn’t look like Brennan and Booth will be having
real sex anytime soon, how about Brennan and her bisexual BFF Angela? "We’ve never discussed
that but I wouldn’t put it past [producers]," says Emily Deschanel with a
chuckle. "I feel like Brennan’s the type of character that if she had
feelings for a woman she wouldn’t question that and she’d go for it.
But it would be kind of complicated with her best friend."

Casting Scoops: 'Ugly Betty,' 'Big Love,' 'Nip/Tuck,' and more!

Whoopikaticrasche_l
What would a Monday Wednesday Thursday be without a fresh batch of exclusive casting scoops? A pretty dull Monday Wednesday Thursday.

THE CLEANER: Whoopi Goldberg is joining the A&E drama for a multi-episode arc as Banks’ (Benjamin Bratt) former sponsor. She’ll first appear in the show’s second season premiere this summer. The eppy also features a guest turn by Gary Cole as a national news anchor who falls off the wagon after two decades of sobriety.

UGLY BETTY: Who’s the daddy? In the case of Betty’s new boyfriend, Matt, it’s acting vet David Rasche. The alum of L.A. Law, Suddenly Susan, All My Children, etc. has been tapped to play the recurring role of Matt’s Richard Branson-esque pa, Cal Hartley. Now, head over to Ask Ausiello, scroll down to the Ugly Betty question/answer near the bottom, and try and guess the identity of Betty’s surprising new boss at Mode. It’s fun game time!

BIG LOVE: As I teased in this week’s AA, Branka Katic will reprise her
role as Bill’s former fourth wife, Ana, when TV’s best drama kicks off
its fourth season early next year. “I’ll be back to cause some
trouble,” teases Katic, who concedes that Ana disappeared rather
abruptly following her quickie marriage-divorce to Bill. “I think she’s
somewhere out there licking her wounds. I think she divorced out of
pure compassion because the damage she was causing the family was
something she certainly didn’t want to happen.”

NIP/TUCK: George Newbern (Providence, Reunion) will play Dr. Curtis
Ryerson, an old pre-med buddy of Sean’s, in at least two episodes of the
FX drama’s upcoming sixth season. A prominent doc on the verge of receiving a
prestigious award, Curtis has carved out the perfect life for himself
— both personally and professionally. In other words, he’s got the
life Sean always wanted. (It’s not too late – you’ve got one season
left!)

All the cool kids are doing it. Following me on Twitter, that is.

'Nip/Tuck' scoop: 'Lost' grad is Sean's MIA bro

Neilhopkins_lSean McNamara’s family tree is having a little work done.

Nip/Tuck has tapped Lost alum Neil Hopkins (he played Charlie’s heroin-addicted sibling, Liam) to join the cast as Sean’s long-lost brother, Brendan, sources confirm to me exclusively.

An FX rep wouldn’t confirm the hire, but a Nip/Tuck insider describes the character — who’ll be introduced at the tail end of the show’s upcoming sixth season — as a recovering meth addict (pigeonholed much, Neil?) who has been living on a nature preserve. “Sean thought his brother had died,” explains the source. “So he’s definitely surprised to see him.”

Nip/Tuck‘s fifth season concludes on March 3. FX has yet to announce a launch date for season 6, but Wikipedia puts it at early 2010, followed by the series-concluding seventh season in 2011. Take that with a grain of salt, though.

What do you think about Sean getting a brother? Intriguing development, or the latest in a long line of shark-jumping moments for the show? Sound off below!

Exclusive: Rose McGowan In, Katee Sackhoff Out on 'Nip/Tuck'

Rosekatee_l
Katee Sackhoff’s upcoming four-episode stint on Nip/Tuck is undergoing what you might call an extreme makeover.

Sources confirm to me exclusively Rose McGowan has replaced Sackhoff in the role of Theodora “Teddy” Lowe, a doctor and potential love interest for Sean (Dylan Walsh). The recast comes on the heels of news that Sackhoff has inked a deal to headline NBC’s Dick Wolf-produced cop pilot Lost and Found, so it’s probably safe to assume that a scheduling conflict led her to back out of the Nip/Tuck gig.

For McGowan, the Nip/Tuck arc marks her first major TV role since Charmed went poof in 2006.
