'The Leftovers': Walt Whitman's words fuel latest teaser -- VIDEO

The latest teaser for HBO’s upcoming series The Leftovers is here, and it took a page from Breaking Bad‘s book by using some of Walt Whitman’s poetry in its narration.

The Leftovers, a drama about 2 percent of the world’s population suddenly disappearing, is from Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof’s first foray back into television after the hit island-based series ended in 2010. Lindelof created the series, along with Tom Perrotta, who wrote the book — also called The Leftovers – the show is based off of. READ FULL STORY

Millions go missing in HBO's 'The Leftovers' teaser -- VIDEO

People mysteriously disappear in HBO’s upcoming series The Leftovers – a lot of people.

“Two percent doesn’t sound like much,” a narrator tells us as images of crowds around the world flash across the screen. “But two percent of the entire planet, of every person on it, that’s more than the world’s ten largest cities combined.” That’s the amount of the world’s population that suddenly disappears one day, setting the series into motion – including a really cute baby we see briefly in the trailer, only to find it missing seconds later.

'Mad Men' teaser: Time for a 'Breakdown'? -- VIDEO

Not everything about Mad Men is retro in the latest teaser for the first part of season 7. The clip shows the Mad crew slo-moing through an airport in an era where air-travel still represented a certain amount of luxury — but the accompanying song comes from British soul singer Alice Russell, who hadn’t even been born when Don and Roger were still ogling stewardesses flight attendants. The song, “Let Go (Breakdown),” is hardly a year old. (Will it irk Matthew Weiner that Russell’s tune was already co-opted by The Blacklist? Yes. Yes it will.)

Still, “Let Go” does capture a certain vibe that suits AMC’s drama, and its cryptic lyrics evoke possible themes as the show enters a crucial season of change: “I’m familiar Jenny / Missed them signs / I bare my positions / Flip over time.”

Watch it below, and make of it what you will. READ FULL STORY

'Late Night with Seth Meyers' promo: Guess who's not ready for airtime? VIDEO

SETH-MEYERS

@LateNight Seth hasn’t tweeted once yet. latenightseth.tumblr.com has been reserved, but bears no posts. Yet there is evidence online that Seth Meyers will, in fact, take over Late Night this February — thanks to a brand-new YouTube account, which recently posted its very first video: a bouncy promo for Meyers’ new show.

Turns out those empty social media accounts are thematically appropriate: The gist of Meyers’ first promo is that his show really isn’t ready for air. (That seems about right; Meyers said in the most recent issue of Time that he still doesn’t know if he’s going to feature a band or a DJ.) The clip shows Meyers leaving the set of SNL, then offering to take viewers on a tour of his new digs, which happen to be just “30 feet” away from his old studio. Once he arrives, though, Meyers finds a room filled with equipment — nowhere near in shape for a late night broadcast. It’s funny ’cause it’s true!

Get to know HBO's 'True Detectives,' a.k.a. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey -- VIDEO

Who, exactly, are the men at the center of HBO’s upcoming crime drama True Detective? That’d be Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Woody Harrelson), a pair of vets with opposing personalities.

See, Marty was once a good man, according to his wife Maggie (Michelle Monaghan) — but his “f—ing job, it confused him and it tested him… brought out the worst in him,” she explains over footage of Harrelson slowly lowering a gun and drinking heavily. “Marty’s single big problem is that he never really knew himself,” she continues.

Rust, on the other hand, has the opposite problem: “Rust knew exactly who he was, and there was no talking him out of it. Rust was maybe the least confused person I’ve ever met,” she says, as we watch McConaughey violently confront someone in an interrogation room. So… bad cop/worse cop, then?

Enigmatic new 'House of Cards' teaser means... something: VIDEO

Update: And now Netflix has added scene-by-scene audio commentary for every episode of season three, from directors David Fincher, James Foley, Joel Schumacher, Charles McDougall, Carl Franklin, and Allen Coulter. You can activate them the same way you’d turn on subtitles. Neat!

Was this new promo for season 2 of House of Cards created by whoever cuts together those infuriating “Next week on Mad Men” montages? Probably not — but you’ll certainly see a resemblance after watching the following clip. At least the Mad Men promos actually include some semblance of dialogue.

Presenting a teaser for the 'Girls' season 3 teaser -- VIDEO

Sorry, everybody — we’ve officially entered a world where teasers of teasers of trailers for actual works of entertainment are a thing. But hey, at least this one has a shot of Adam Driver shirtless.

Last night, Lena Dunham took to Instagram to post a shortened version of the teaser for Girls season 3. (The full-length preview of a preview debuts Sunday.) Though the whole thing is only 15 seconds long, it contains pretty much everything you’d expect from a full episode of Girls — namely, Hannah being self-absorbed, Marnie looking gorgeous but also like an asshole, Shoshanna making us wish she had more screen time, Jessa barely doing anything, catchy music, and, of course, nudity.

New 'Arrow' promo: 'With great power comes great abs' ... and a sweaty Olicity scene -- VIDEO

Attention, Olicity fans: This is the Arrow teaser you’ve been waiting for!

With just a week to go until Arrow‘s second season starts up, The CW has released another (sweatier than ever) promo. It appears that Laurel thinks she “made a mistake” when she slept with Oliver, which means good things for fans of Oliver’s hot body, because he’s working out his feelings by staying busy — and by busy, I mean shirtless. Hey, when duty calls, amirite?

Oh, and I almost forgot: Oliver’s busy work involves explosions and at least one instance of him lying on top of Felicity when she touches his bare back and (out of breath) says, “God, you’re really sweaty.”

'The Vampire Diaries' extended promo: 'The rules have changed' -- VIDEO

The newest promo for The Vampire Diaries season 5 gives us a glimpse into Elena’s college life — dorm rooms! bonfires! — and our first look at Silas pretending to be Stefan in front of Damon. Does anyone else think Damon looks a little scared? Perhaps he’s worried about how Stefan’s “return” will affect his relationship with Elena?

Speaking of Elena, she’s off “giving it the old college try,” while Damon is stuck in Mystic Falls assuring her that the distance won’t hurt their relationship, even though Katherine has made herself right at home — in his bathtub. However, he doesn’t seem to be taking the bait, which is more than can be said for Silas, who seems to be flirting with the now-human Katerina, though we’re sure he has an agenda. But most importantly, let’s all take a moment to appreciate that Katherine is shaving her legs with a straight razor. The woman’s classy.

Elsewhere, Jeremy’s getting in fights at school, and Elena has a “feeling like something bad is about to happen.” Well, if she’s involved in that car crash, she might have a point.
