HBO's Liberace biopic 'Behind the Candelabra' tunes up in new teaser -- VIDEO

There’ll be glitz, glamour, and Matt Damon butt shots galore in Behind the Candelabra, an HBO movie about Liberace that may or may not be Steven Soderbergh’s final film as director — but you’ll see none of that in this new teaser, which may more accurately be called Inside the Piano.

Even if the video doesn’t feature star Michael Douglas as Mr. Showmanship himself, it is a pretty nifty bit of animation… especially if it does turn out to be one of the last times Soderbergh’s name appears in a credits sequence. Watch below:

First promo for new Arsenio Hall show features nothing but the woof -- VIDEO

“Some say he’s only a legend,” a deep, Don LaFontaine-esque voice intones as sirens blare and a frightened woman hurries down a dark city street. “Some say he never existed at all. But others swear that when night grips the city, if you close your eyes and listen — really listen — you can still hear the pulse-pounding, hair-raising, spine-chilling sounds of… the Wolfman.”

Wait. Strike that. What the voice meant to say was “the Woofman,” as in Arsenio Hall — who’s returning to late night next fall with an all-new syndicated talk show. Can this new series survive in a TV landscape that barely resembles that of Hall’s early ’90s heyday? We won’t know for months — but this first promo for the show proves that there’s life in the old dog pound yet.

'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' promo: Ice, ice baby -- VIDEO

Last year, the profile of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was certainly raised by its spiraling characters — Taylor Armstrong, whose husband Russell committed suicide just before the show’s second season began, and former child star Kim Richards, who checked herself into rehab (for the second time) midway through the season. With the news of star Adrienne Maloof’s contentious divorce, season 3 seems primed to reach another fever pitch. Not that you’d know from the chilling promo for season 3.

Underscored by Alex Clare’s appropriately ominous and undulating “Whispering,” the teaser shows the ladies gliding through “sunny” Beverly Hills, transforming it into a veritable tundra with their ice-queen attitudes. “Who will care for the fallen?” beseeches Clare. If the upcoming season is half as tantalizing as this spot implies, probably a lot of people. Though the ladies would be well advised to balance out that ice with a little fire now and again. Watch below.

New 'Arrow' sneak peek: He shoots, he scores! -- VIDEO

Green Arrow or gritty, urban Robin Hood? The line looks a little blurry in the following sneak peek of The CW’s Arrow, the story of rich playboy turned crusading vigilante Oliver Queen. In this clip from the series’ pilot, Queen’s super alter ego heads to a dark parking garage, where he persuades a certain bad guy to help Starling City… or else. Hint: The henchmen don’t exactly make it out unscathed.

The video is a good indication of the show’s darker-than-Smallville tone, as well as its “rage of the 99 percent” ethos. As co-creator Marc Guggenheim told reporters at Comic-Con this year, Oliver is targeting “the wealthy and corrupt. There’s some echos of the 1 percent and Occupy Wall Street …  he’s a man of the people and taking it back for the little guy.” Give it a shot, won’t you?

'The X Factor': Check out Britney Spears' judging style in new promo video

The X Factor is nearing its return to Fox, and it’s marching in to the tune of “…Baby One More Time.” Hey, if you were promoting new judge Britney Spears, you’d take every opportunity to use her ’90s hits in ads, too, right?

In a new promo for the sophomore season of the music competition show, Spears says in voiceover, “It’s really kind of hard to tell some people ‘no.’” Well, she must have not had too much difficulty bashing contestants lacking in sufficient talent. A second later she says, “I wanna know who let you on stage.”

Check out the Spears-centric promo below, including a moment that Simon Cowell didn’t hesitate to proclaim “awkward!” READ FULL STORY »

New 'Fringe' promo features parental Peter and Olivia, a peek at Observaggedon

Comic-Con last month presented the first trailer for Fringe‘s final season. But that preview was created before production on season 5 began and primarily featured footage only from the Fox show’s time-jumping 19th episode of season 4, so fans have been eagerly anticipating the first real look at the fifth and final season, which starts airing Friday, Sept. 28. Now that wait is over: The promo for the season premiere has hit the web.

The video’s YouTube page declares the premiere title to be the name of Peter and Olivia’s child, “Etta,” which is a change from the much more of a mouthful, previously announced title, “Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11.” Take a look at the promo featuring what would be a nightmare for any Observer-fearing parent below: READ FULL STORY »

'Homeland' season 2 teaser goes inside Carrie's mind -- VIDEO

The first season of Showtime’s Emmy-nominated, hit drama Homeland was quite the trip into the mind of Claire Danes’ character Carrie Mathison. And season 2 looks to be much the same, as evidenced by the new teaser — it’s embedded below — the cable network just released.

It doesn’t feature any footage from the coming season, but the teaser — which shows the Emmy-nominated Danes as dialogue and imagery from the first season engulf her — points heavily toward Mathison’s mental health issues.

The second season is supposed to pick up after Mathison has been in the psych ward for about six months, after having gone through a series of shock treatments.

Homeland premieres on Showtime Sunday, Sept. 30, at 10 p.m.

'Awkward.' season 2 trailer: Things are about to get 'awkwarder'

Jenna doesn’t have to deal with the world’s most oddly angled cast on her arm in Awkward.’s second season, but that doesn’t mean the MTV show will cease to live up to its title. In fact, things are about to get “awkwarder,” as the exclusive promo below declares.

In the second season premiere of the show, set to air on June 28, Ashley Rickards returns as Jenna Hamilton, a teen navigating the ups and downs of high school that we all know are best described as, yes, awkward.

Dashboard hula doll Lolana has fulfilled her foreshadowing duties. 'Veep' trailer: Elaine Benes and Buster Bluth are feeling quasi-presidential

We’ve still got a bit of a wait before Arrested Development‘s back-from-the-dead fourth season premieres on Netflix. But in the meantime, HBO is making it a lot easier for you to get your Buster Bluth fix — via Veep, a new comedy that stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as dysfunctional vice president Selena Meyer, Anna Chlumsky (Vada!) as her chief of staff, and Tony Hale as her assistant and “Body Man.” Sounds like a position for a guy with two hands.

In this latest Veep trailer, we get a closer look at VP Meyer’s loony office. At just 46 seconds long, it manages to pack in several chuckle-worthy moments — especially the part when Buster Hale unnecessarily explains what NASA stands for. Between this series, Game of Thrones, Girls, and The Newsroom, it looks like HBO is in for an unusually great spring; let’s hope the new shows will live up to our admittedly high expectations. Check out the Veep trailer below. READ FULL STORY »

'Boss' promo: Is there anything more dangerous than a dying man? -- VIDEO

Thomas Kane (Kelsey Grammer) was left seizing on the floor at the end of the season finale of Boss, and while the new season presumably finds him surviving the stroke, it’s clear that his neurological disease is finally catching up to him. The result, according to this just-released teaser trailer for the forthcoming second season? A man who has nothing to lose — a.k.a.: the most dangerous man you’ve ever met.

Check out the video below. The new season of the Golden Globe-nominated series kicks off in August. READ FULL STORY »
