'Psych' renewed for shortened eighth season

Psych-os rejoice! Gus and Shawn will be back for an eight-episode season 8.

“Psych is one of those rarities – a show that continues to grow its fan base season after season, with exceptional storytelling, a consistently inspired cast and talented guest stars,” USA co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel said in a statement. “We thought Shawn Spencer would have seen this coming….”

Psych, which is USA’s longest running scripted series, will premiere it’s seventh season Feb. 27.

'Psych': 'Rocky Horror' actor joins musical episode -- EXCLUSIVE

We’re not sure what to expect from Psych‘s much-anticipated musical episode, but it looks like it will definitely have a Horror element.

Rocky Horror Picture Show actor Barry Bostwick has booked a guest appearance on the USA show’s two-hour musical episode, which was announced at Comic-Con this summer and is currently in production in Vancouver. He will play Armitage, a businessman and owner of a lavish theater in Santa Barbara.

Bostwick joins previously announced guest stars Brooke Lyons (2 Broke Girls) and Rent actor Anthony Rapp.

The episode will air during the show’s upcoming seventh season.

'Psych' Comic-Con Panel: Boss previews two-hour musical episode!

EW’s Comic-Con coverage continues! Next up, a peek inside Ballroom 20 as the cast of Psych hits the stage:

The Panel: Actors James Roday, Dule Hill, Corbin Bernsen, Kirsten Nelson, Maggie Lawson, and Tim Omundson, who doubled as moderator. Executive producers Steve Franks, Kelly Kutchak, and Chris Henze.

The Big Revelations: “The musical episode is half-way written,” revealed Franks, who also sang a piece of the music. The two-hour episode includes the line, “…soon to be unfurled, it’s the murder capital of the world.” Also, there’s a book on the way! Look out for Psych’s Guide to Crime Fighting for the Totally Unqualified.

Footage Screened: There was a short preview of the episodes to come, including the big Clue-themed 100th episode. Other highlights from the reel included a Big Foot-themed episode, which looks to have a Blair Witch touch to it, the arrival ER vet Parminder Nagra as Gus’ love interest, and the resolution to last year’s big cliffhanger involving Henry (Bernsen). Our peek at the latter was actually pretty powerful, and the end of the footage found Shawn pointing a gun at the man who shot Henry!

Spoiler Room Video Edition: Stars from 'Psych' and 'Happy Endings' take your TV questions -- WATCH

psyche-dule-hill

Full disclosure: I’m not a funny person — just awkward. And that becomes more evident when I’m in the company of REAL funny people, like the two guys featured in this week’s Spoiler Room: Video Edition.

But one of the best things about having handsome devils Dulé Hill and Adam Pally sit on my couch? They took some of your questions. (It’s two degrees of celebrity interaction! Woo!)

Anyway, if you will lend me your ears for three more sentences (crowd throws ears): Please keep submitting your questions to SpoilerRoom@ew.com or via Twitter @EWSandraG. Tomorrow I’m sitting down with Ioan Gruffudd from Ringer, so get ‘em in speedy quick. Enjoy, and I’ll see you Friday for your regular Spoiler Room column! READ FULL STORY

'Psych': Dule Hill on the end of season 6, and his hopes for a 'West Wing' episode!

The end of Psych‘s sixth season is upon us (only three episodes to go!), but what’s in store promises to be just as fun — if not more — than what fans have already been treated to this season, according to star Dulé Hill, who stopped by EW’s offices this week to chat.

The last stretch of fun kicks off tonight with an episode that features a guest spot from French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun) and cameo from Psych writer (and fan fave) Andy Berman. “What Andy Berman does is pure genius,” Hill says, adding in a strategically coy manner, “He plays…a lad from a different land.”

“Different” is something Psych certainly does well, and why shouldn’t it continue to do so? After six seasons, the show was renewed back in January and is set to begin filming its seventh in a few weeks. And Hill says that after fans check out the nail-biting cliffhanger at the end of the sixth season, they’ll be even more eager to see what’s in store for next season.  READ FULL STORY

Jason Priestley takes on Shawn Spencer on 'Psych' -- VIDEO

For the midseason finale of Psych — airing Wednesday, Dec. 14 —  Shawn (James Roday) and Juliet (Maggie Lawson) take a romantic getaway, where they befriend another couple played by guest stars Jason Priestley and Jennifer Finnigan. “James and Maggie may see their future a little bit, and I think maybe that intrigues them but terrifies them more than anything,” Priestley tells EW about the episode.

Things, of course, are not exactly as they seem. Priestley and Finnigan’s characters are actually con artists on a Bonnie-and-Clyde run from the law, he says. “[They] pull scams on people and take them for everything that they can and then move on to the next town.” Watch a clip from the episode below, which also features guest star Tony Hale. 'Psych' montage invites us to 'suck it' -- VIDEO

James Roday and Dule Hill are already well into season 6 on Psych, which so far has featured many classic shenanigans between psychic detective Shawn Spencer and his partner Chest Rockwell. Oh wait, I meant Sh’Dynasty, spelled with a coma-to-the-top (that’s God’s comma). Actually it’s both, and neither.

Over the course of six years on the beloved USA buddy-cop show, the crime fighting duo have burned through a host of fake names and catch phrases. And, if this exclusive clip is any indication, that’s not about to change any time soon.  READ FULL STORY

'Bones,' 'Chuck,' 'Gossip Girl,' 'The Walking Dead': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

We’re a few weeks into the new season and the greatness just keeps on coming. No, I’m not talking about me, but I’m flattered.

I’m talking about TV, silly. And judging by the volume of your tweets and e-mails, you’re enjoying it as much as I am.

Special thanks to everyone who has been sending me tweets and e-mailing questions as you tune into new episodes of your favorite shows. They keep me entertained when I’m bored and give me something to read when I’m trying to ignore someone on the elevator. Keep it up!

Send queries to spoilerroom@ew.com and @EWSandraG. I will try to comb through comment questions, but I don’t always have a chance. So the first two methods are preferred, if possible. Thanks, guys!

'Psych' stars come out for Fan Appreciation Day, prepare for show's first fall premiere

If you weren’t wearing green or at least sporting a pineapple logo at yesterday’s Psych Fan Appreciation Day, you were probably the odd man out.

Psych fans from all over descended upon the Ziegfeld Theater yesterday as the cast appeared for a screening of their premiere episode and a Q&A session that rivaled Comic-Con-level madness. Much like the show, the event was a blend of quirky and fun. Among the highlights? The on-stage competitions held that pitted Psych fans against each other in challenges and the musical stylings of Dule Hill and James Roday. READ FULL STORY

'Supernatural,' 'Fringe,' 'House,' 'Gossip Girl': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

Happy Friday, friends!

I’ve had a long and exhausting week trolling the sets of your favorite shows in rainy (but completely lovely) Vancouver, and it’s paid off. Not only have I walked away from my travels with a new love for all things (and people) Canadian, but I come back to my motherland with plenty of TV bounty.

And before you dig in, remember to send me your questions about everything you’re watching. From the highly acclaimed (Good Wife?) to the pleasantly culty (Vampire Diaries?), I want to hear what’s on your brains. Send all queries to spoilerroom@ew.com and remember, as always, to follow me on Twitter (@EWSandraG) for the latest.

'Psych' stars and New Kids on the Block's Joey McIntyre show off their dance moves -- EXCLUSIVE VIDEO

The season premiere of Psych is a little more than a week away (Oct. 12), and if you’re not already excited, allow me to push you over the edge with this exclusive Psych-out from an upcoming episode featuring New Kids on the Block member Joey McIntyre.

In this behind the scenes clip from the Nov. 2 episode (10 p.m. ET), the new kid does a dance duet with Dulé Hill as James Roday watches on. I honestly can’t tell if they’re in character or not (the hijinks start after someone calls “cut,” but Roday then calls Hill “Gus” shortly after), but that doesn’t really matter. Sit back and enjoy this epic clash:  READ FULL STORY

'Glee,' 'How I Met Your Mother,' '90210,' 'Vampire Diaries': Find out what's next in the Spoiler Room

It’s about that time again.

And I’m particularly excited going into this weekend because I’m days away from making my maiden voyage to Canada. (No, not to track the history of Robin Sparkles.)
