Gone but not forgotten, Lee Thompson Young and his character will receive a proper sendoff in the fifth season of Rizzoli & Isles. The actor, who played detective Barry Frost on the TNT drama, committed suicide last August. On Wednesday, series star Angie Harmon tweeted that he will be honored in the first two episodes of season 5:

Fans of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles can rejoice: Looks like Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles will be back for another summer. The juicy procedural that stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander consistently produced amazing numbers — it’s ranked #1 out of all summer’s basic cable television shows with an average of 8.4 million viewers.
TNT also renewed Major Crimes and Perception, along with the previously announced renewal of Falling Skies. Major Crimes averages more than 6.7 million viewers while Perception snags around 5.6 million viewers per episode.
Seems like there’s something golden in the water over at TNT.
Tom Scavo is coming to Rizzoli & Isles! Well, sort of.
Desperate Housewives alum Doug Savant is set to guest star on the upcoming fourth season of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles, which stars Angie Harmon as Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as medical examiner Maura Isles.
Savant, best-known for his work on the ABC soap and Melrose Place, will play Roger Thorson, a mock trial adviser whose colleague dies suddenly during a competition. His episode is tentatively set to air in early September.
The new season of Rizzoli & Isles begins June 25 at 9 p.m.
TNT announces summer premiere dates for new Dwayne Johnson series, 'Rizzoli & Isles,' 'Falling Skies,' more
The countdown to the final episodes of the 2012-2013 season for many broadcast network shows began last week, as ABC, Fox, NBC, CBS and the CW announced their season finale dates. But fans of TNT shows can now mark their calendars for the return of shows like Falling Skies and Rizzoli & Isles. The cable network announced their summer premiere dates today.
TNT has four new series lined up for this summer. The first to debut is The Hero, a reality competition series that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hosts. TNT describes it as a show that “will bring nine ordinary people together and assign them various missions testing their brains, their brawn and even their morality.” The Hero will be the lead-in for another new competition series, the Survivor-esque 72 Hours, which drops three competing teams in the wilderness with only one bottle of water and a GPS. The contestants have three days to find a hidden briefcase full of cash.

The third season of TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles picks up right where we left off — the aftermath of Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) shooting medical examiner Maura Isles’ (Sasha Alexander) Mob-boss father. While Maura’s anger is directed at Jane, so is an internal affairs investigation questioning whether, as the best friend of Paddy Doyle’s daughter, she’s a dirty cop. Will their friendship recover? “We don’t hug and go get our nails done at the end of the episode,” Alexander says, with a laugh.
They’ll need something equally as dramatic to bring the two back together, and in episode 2, the duo gets trapped in a car with water rising around them. “Maura is very, very hurt, so Jane has to do surgery on her in order to help her not lose her leg. It’s pretty intense,” Alexander says. “They really earn their way back.”
Here are five more things fans have to look forward to this season, which premieres June 5 in a new Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET time slot: READ FULL STORY
