When Sam Anderson booked the recurring role of teacher Danny Pink on the long-running British time travel show Doctor Who, he couldn’t wait to spread the good news. “I got the call and was like, ‘Woah, man, I got Doctor Who!'” the actor says. “My agent rang again. ‘Don’t tell anyone!’ I was like, ‘I just told a roomful of people!’ But luckily it was a couple of actors and some jazz musicians, who really couldn’t care less. So I wasn’t too worried.”

It’s safe to assume that the characters of American Horror Story: Freak Show are…um…quirky. In this latest exclusive teaser, we meet a contortionist (Is it the same one seen in the trapeze teaser?) who’s not only quite flexible but also boasts an extra leg. Yep, a three-legged contortionist. Only in the weird world of AHS. Watch below.
American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres Oct. 8 on FX and features Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Michael Chiklis, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, and Denis O’Hare.
Yesterday, EW delivered one of the first teasers for this fall’s American Horror Story: Freak Show. Now, here’s a glimpse of possibly one of the attractions of the titular freak show in this latest exclusive new teaser. What in the hell is in that cage? Who is the other man keeping the thing in the cage? What’s up with his scary hands? Why can’t this show premiere now? READ FULL STORY
Ready for a look at American Horror Story‘s latest incarnation, Freak Show?
We already knew that this season, set at a 1950s Florida freak show, will feature a bearded lady and a scary clown. Over the past few weeks, more details have emerged: Sarah Paulson’s character has two heads. The smallest woman alive has been cast. The handsomest man alive has been cast. Now EW can exclusively reveal the latest teaser for the series, which takes viewers under Freak Show‘s big top. Needless to say, this ain’t the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Watch below. Lucy Lawless has gone from warrior princess to cylon to an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Marvel has released the first photo of the Battlestar Galactica and Xena alum, who will make her debut in the season-two premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Isabelle Hartley, a S.H.I.E.L.D. vet who helps Coulson and the team in rebuilding the organization. But can she be trusted?

Can you tease how Amelia will fit in on Grey’s Anatomy next season? — Carla
How she’ll fit into Grey Sloan will all depend on whether or not Derek takes the D.C. job, which causes some “frustrating complications,” executive producer Shonda Rhimes tells me. But Amelia will make a surprising connection at the hospital, just not with who you’d think. “There’s a moment early on when she finds herself the keeper of some secrets that Richard didn’t necessarily want her to know by being at an AA meeting that he didn’t know she was at,” Rhimes says. “It draws her into the world in a deeper way than she anticipated.” Hmm, I wonder what that secret could be.
They’re both the leads on political series. They both crave power. They’re both the focus of this week’s EW cover story on The 25 Best Characters on TV. But what would happen if House of Cards‘ Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) ever met Veep‘s Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus)?
“I’m not even sure she’d be alive,” laughs Spacey. “First of all, Frank would probably find a way to manipulate the little guy that carries her purse around. So I’d have a mole in her office. I do have this hilarious notion that at some point on either of our shows we should be walking down a hallway and having a discussion and pass each other, and just stop, and then keep going.” READ FULL STORY
On August 23, Peter Capaldi will begin his first season starring in Doctor Who when the long-running British science-fiction show returns to BBC America. But it wasn’t so long ago that the Scottish actor and lifelong Who fan was certain he would never get his hands on the controls of the Time Lord’s TARDIS. “I wouldn’t have thought I would be the guy,” Capaldi says. “I wouldn’t have thought it would be me.” Why not? “Because of my age. I would have thought they were automatically heading younger.”
Kiefer Sutherland joined executive producer Jon Cassar at San Diego Comic-Con to talk about the latest installment of 24, subtitled Live Another Day, and his parting thoughts on playing Jack Bauer again. Here are the highlights:
- While some expected the panel would elicit news of another installment, neither Cassar or Sutherland discussed another terrible day for Jack Bauer.
- Cassar did, however, admit that a 24 movie is still a possibility. “We’re still talking about the movie,” Cassar told the crowd in Ballroom 20. “It’s still potentially out there.” READ FULL STORY
Glee won’t be returning for its final run until 2015, but it will be a shorter season than previously expected. EW has confirmed that the Fox series’ last batch of episodes will be 13 instead of the previously announced 22.
Former Fox head Kevin Reilly told reporters in May that the order for the series could change. “We need to sit down with [creator] Ryan Murphy on how to end it,” Reilly said. “The advantage of airing it later in the season is that it doesn’t have to feel the pressure of delivering.”
Lifetime’s early-2015 biopic Whitney Houston (working title)—directed by the singer’s Waiting to Exhale costar Angela Bassett and starring former America’s Next Top Model contestant Yaya DaCosta—just began shooting. But DaCosta has already re-created the iconic cover of the pop diva’s 1987 Whitney album. And her modeling background came in handy for the quick shoot. Laughs the star, “I just looked at the picture and did the pose!” Somewhere Tyra is smizing proudly.
